×Sunghoon's pov×
As the day faded into dusk, casting long shadows across the city, Sunghoon, Jake, and Jungwon emerged from the rooms, their spirits lifted after a peaceful night's rest despite the power outage.
Jake was wearing the clothes he was wearing the other day, while Jungwon was wearing Jay's clothes. But Sunghoon's clothes were something completely different.
A stunning, ebony and ivory ice skating ensemble tailored to fit Sunghoon's slender frame like a glove, accentuating his graceful lines and movements.
The sleek, form-fitting fabric hugged his body in all the right places, highlighting his elegant physique as he effortlessly glides across the rink.
The contrasting black and white tones not only showcase his impeccable style but also enhance the fluidity and precision of his every performance, making him a vision of artistry and skill on the ice.
It was something that Jake and Jungwon only saw a few times on Sunghoon, in ice skating competitions. He usually wore very casual clothes.
"Let's get going."
Sunghoon announced, his voice carrying a mix of excitement and determination.
Sunghoon took his car keys and led the way downstairs to the garage. Jungwon and Jake settled into the back seat, their anticipation palpable.
As Sunghoon slid behind the wheel, the sound of the engine roared to life, filling the air with a mix of power and promise, and soon they were winding through the moonlit streets towards the ice rink.
As they approached their destination, Sunghoon's coach emerged from the shadows, his eyes widening in surprise.
"Sunghoon, my boy! It's wonderful to see you. Hey, who are these young gentlemen?"
Sunghoon turned to his friends, smiling proudly, and introducing them to the coach.
"These are my friends, mister Cha. Jake and Jungwon. They're just here to observe. Like Jay always does."
The coach hesitated momentarily, his eyes scanning Jake and Jungwon with a critical gaze.
"Very well. As long as they remain on the sidelines and do not interfere with your practice."
Sunghoon led them to the edge of the rink, telling them to stay there and not move further.
He sat on a bench, quickly changing from his sneakers to his skates, admiring the perfectly sharpened blades.
Sunghoon took a deep breath and stepped onto the ice. He began slowly, gliding across the surface with effortless grace, warming up his muscles.
As he gained momentum, he skated to the center of the rink and came to a stop, his skates scraping against the ice.
Jake and Jungwon watched with bated breath as the music, 'You Are The Reason', by Calum Scott, began to play. Sunghoon's body came to life, an extension of the melody, his movements smooth, fluid and expressive.
He executed spins with breathtaking precision, the ice crystals flying beneath his blades. His jumps were soaring and graceful, as if he were defying gravity itself.
Sunghoon's steps transitioned seamlessly between waltz, foxtrot, and tango. His spins and twirls were executed with flawless technique. His entire performance was a testament to his fourteen years of dedication and passion for ice skating.
Jake and Jungwon were mesmerized by the spectacle unfolding before their eyes. They had never seen anything like it.
As the music reached its crescendo, Sunghoon landed his final jump, a quadruple Axel, coming to a graceful stop in the center of the rink.
He bowed low, his body still buzzing with the energy of the performance. As he made his way off the ice, Jungwon and Jake rushed to him.
"Is this what you're doing for the competition?! Man, you're not just winning this year's competition, but the next three as well!"
"You are overreacting. There can be someone better than me."
"Impossible! Wait, is practice over?"
Sunghoon shook his head no, as he opened his bag and grabbed a bottle of water.
As Jake and Jungwon basked in the afterglow of Sunghoon's extraordinary performance, coach Cha approached him with a knowing smile.
"I have something for you, Sunghoon."
"Me? Hm? What is it?"
"Finally, after three long years, your new ice skating uniform is ready. It's a testament to your tireless dedication and unwavering spirit."
A surge of excitement coursed through Sunghoon's veins. For years, he had worn the same old uniform, its fabric faded and its seams fraying. Now, finally, he would have something new to wear.
"Really?! When will it be here?"
"Oh, it's already here. Follow me."
With Jake and Jungwon trailing behind, Sunghoon followed his coach into the fitting room.
His eyes were immediately drawn to a garment bag hanging on a rack. Slowly, he reached out and unzipped it.
Inside, folded neatly, was a stunning red and white ice skating uniform. The rich crimson of the velvet sleeves contrasted beautifully with the pristine white of the rest of the ensemble. Gold embroidery adorned the edges, adding a touch of elegance and luxury.
"It's... beautiful."
Sunghoon whispered, his fingers running over the soft fabric. It was better than any other uniform he had ever worn.
"It's designed specifically for you, and you only. You will not find even a similar one anywhere. Every detail has been crafted to complement your unique style and abilities."
A sense of pride washed over Sunghoon as he put on the new uniform. It fit like a second skin, giving him a newfound confidence.
"Thank you, mister Cha. It's... It's perfect."
"I knew you would love it."
"Hyung, you look like a prince!"
"Jungwon's right. You seriously look like the ice prince now."
Sunghoon smiled slightly, looking down at his feet, blushing a little over the compliments.
"Let's go check how comfortable it is, what do you think?"
Sunghoon nodded excitedly, as they walked back to the ice rink. He couldn't wait to try his new uniform.
But then, a twinge of pain shot through his injured knee. His leg buckled beneath him for a split second, causing him to slip and fall hard on the ice.
His two friends gasped in unison, but they were too scared to step on the ice to go and check up on him.
His coach, alarmed, rushed to his side, kneeling next to him, reaching out for the younger's knee, but Sunghoon got up already.
"I'm fine. My knee just gave out for a second."
Sunghoon said, trying to reassure them. He winced as he put weight on his knee. But he couldn't give up just yet.
Jake and Jungwon exchanged worried glances, but they knew better than to argue with Sunghoon's stubbornness.
However, coach Cha was not so easily convinced. He had seen Sunghoon's knee buckle, and he knew that a fall on an injured joint could have serious consequences.
"Sunghoon, let me take a look."
Sunghoon reluctantly allowed coach Cha to examine his knee. The coach gently prodded and pressed, but Sunghoon insisted that he was fine.
"It's just a little weak from the fall. I'll be okay."
Coach Cha sighed. He knew that Sunghoon was downplaying the pain, but he couldn't force him to rest.
"Fine, but be careful. If it starts hurting more, let me know immediately."
Sunghoon nodded, and returned to skating. He moved cautiously at first, testing the limits of his knee. But as he regained confidence, he began to push himself harder.
He knew when to go easy, and when to give his all. It was not that he was ignoring his pain. He knew when to stop. And it wasn't the time to stop.
