27- The Rebellion (E)
The group split up once they all suited up. Clint and Wanda went up to the parking deck while Sam and Bucky went off to search for the correct terminal. Thea decided her best choice was to be with Steve and Scott. Scott was already small; staying secure on Steve's shield.
Thea noticed an immediate change in his demeanor as soon as he put on his suit. His serious tone grew as he slowly walked to the landing strip of the airport. Thea walked beside him, her long strides almost overtaking his slow ones.
Clearing her throat, Thea asked "Hey why do we have to walk so slowly? Is this just a you thing or do all superheroes do this when they are about to fight?" She paused, "Cause I sure as hell haven't done this." She pointed to his feet as she emphasized it. Thea stifled a smile, trying to keep the mood light, "This is apart of the superhero package too right? Acting all silent and serious." Thea sighed out. "I don't think I can be a superhero if this is all it is." Thea clicked her tongue, the sound echoing off the parking structures walls.
All Steve said in response to all her questions was a simple sentence. "Come on." His pace began to pick up as he took larger strides.
Thea squinted at the distance. She began sprinting alongside Steve as they ran from under the cover to an empty helicopter. Thea flinched suddenly when a large electromagnetic pulse shook the helicopter. Steve and her back off from the helicopter, avoiding the incoming suits.
"Wow, it's so weird how you run into people at the airport. Don't you think that's weird?" Tony's mask retracted back to reveal his bruised face.
"Definitely weird," Rhodey said through his suit.
Tony stopped, his attention now focused on Thea, who had her gaze set to him calmly.
"Thea... I really thought you would've known better."
"Oh me?" Thea pointed at herself and shrugged her shoulders. "This is all part of the rebellious teenager phase, right? You should know all about that Tony."
Tony held back a smirk.
"Hear me out, Tony. That doctor, the psychiatrist, he's behind all of this." Steve tried to level with Tony but he wasn't listening.
From behind Thea and Steve jumped out a person, clad in a cat-like suit. Behind the mask, a thick accent came through. "Captain."
"Your highness," Steve said in reply.
"Wait he's? Who?" Thea questioned.
"Anyway. Ross gave me 36 hours to bring your in. That was 24 hours ago. Can you help a brother out?" Tony walked in useless circles to try to calm his nerves.
"You're after the wrong guy."
"Your judgment is askew. Your old war buddy killed innocent people yesterday." Tony fumed.
"But there is still other out in the world. Probably world's worse than Bucky!" Thea retorted.
Tony's eyes softened slightly at her but hardened once again when Natasha butted into the conversation. She walked in from behind Steve and Thea. "You know what's about to happen... Do you really want to punch your way out of this one?"
Thea opened her mouth to reply to Natasha's statement when suddenly Tony called out, "All right, I've run out of patience. Underoos!" He cupped his hands around his mouth, shouting out into the air.
Thea gasped as a single web shot from above of her. The web took Steve's shield right from his grasp and webbing up his hands in one go. She looked up at the figure she had come to know closely, but it was in an unfamiliar suit.
So... Peter's here, Thea thought.
Clad in a brand new suit, Spider-Man landed on his knees.
Steve sighed out, "Nice job, kid."
Spider-Man spoke out in a high voice, "Thanks!" He looked down at his suit and continued. "Well, I could've stuck the landing a bit better. It's just the new suit— Well it's nothing Mr. Stark. It's-it's perfect. Thank you." Peter raised his arm out to Tony.
Thea snorted to herself at his response.
"Yeah, we really don't need to start a conversation," Tony said quickly, trying to stop it at the start.
"Okay. Cap- Captain. Big fan, Spider-Man," Peter pointed at himself while stuttering this out.
"Yeah, we'll talk about this later. Just-"
"Hey everyone," Spider-Man interrupted Tony and waved a single hand across them all. His hand stopped as soon as his eyes landed on Thea.
Thea pretended not to notice him, instead, her eyes looking at Steve who was talking.
"You've been busy."
Tony tried to keep his anger under control, "Any you've been a complete idiot." Tony paused, "Dragging in Clint. 'Rescuing' Wanda from a safe place she doesn't even want to leave, a safe place. And worst of all," Tony looked to Thea's direction. "You brought her into this." He nodded his head in Thea's direction. Tony's voice rose, "I'm trying to keep... " He paused and sighed out, relaxing his voice. "I'm trying to keep you from tearing the Avengers apart."
"You did that when you signed," Steve retorted.
In a low voice, Tony said, "Alright, we're done." He breathed in through his mouth and pushed out a forced argument. "You're gonna turn Barnes over, you're gonna come with us. Now! Because it's us! Or a squad of J-SOC guys with no compunction about being impolite."
In front of Thea, Steve turned his head to the side to look at where Sam was. Right on queue, Sam spoke over the earpiece. "We found it. Their Quinjet's in hangar five, north runway."
Thea took a few steps back, standing behind Steve.
Suddenly, Steve lifted his webbed hands to the empty air and a blazing fast arrow shot straight through the sticky bindings.
"Alright, Lang." Was all that Steve said to get Scott's attention.
Through the air, Thea could hear Peter speak out, "Hey, guys, something-"
Thea gasped as she watched Scott grow on Steve's shield that Peter held. Scott knocked him over, causing Peter to grunt while hitting the ground.
Thea smirked under her mask and it never faltered as Scott spoke to Steve, "I believe this is yours, Captain America." Scott handed Steve his shield back, causing the group on the ground to shift their attention to the others.
Thea furrowed her eyes as Tony lifted off the ground alongside Rhodey. Tony flew off after the outline of Clint and Wanda. Rhodey was about to go after Sam and Bucky when T'challa beat him to it.
Steve quickly ran after the armor-clad man, leaving Thea on the landing strip. She didn't have time to think when she heard the familiar sound of webs shooting out. She immediately looked to see Spider-Man swinging off of the ground and into the air.
She whipped her head back to the terminal where Sam and Bucky were at, and where Peter was swinging toward. Thea took one look around to find herself almost alone on the tarmac. Her eyes rested on the only other person left to fight, Rhodey.
Sighing out, Thea began to slowly walk toward Rhodey, who was still getting up after being shaken by Steve's shield. Her hands tightened at her sides. Her fingers clenching and unclenching as sparks of purple smoke appeared from them like a faulty wire.
Rhodey quickly took notice of her approaching figure and stood up to face her. He lifted the mask on his suit, letting his face show in the light.
"Thea... you don't need to do this," Rhodey spoke quietly. He raised his hands out in defense.
Thea smiled under her mask and breathed out, "Why not? It'll be fun." She clenched her hands at her sides one last time, causing a fury of smoke to pour out of her hands.
Rhodey took this as a chance to overtake her. He shut his mask over his face and shot out a pulse of electricity at her.
Thea immediately countered it by shooting out her hands in front of her. Her powers flowed out of her hands at a rapid speed, forming a shield in front of her. The smoke absorbed the current of electricity and concentrated it into one single point along with the shield. Thea's hands worked fast, shaping the shield into a condensed ball of electricity and smoke. This all happened in a matter of moments as she threw the ball back at Rhodey. As soon as it made contact with Rhodey, the same current of energy that he shot at her as now doubled back at him. Rhodey groaned in pain as a wave of shock washed over him, leaving him on his knees.
Thea winced while placing her hands to her sides, her powers lifting her off the ground.
"Sorry, Rhodey! But I really just needed that," Thea shout out to Rhodey, who was still groaning on the floor.
Taking no chances for Rhodey to get back up, Thea blasted off in the same direction that Sam, Bucky, and Peter were. Her powers trailed behind her, leaving a streak of purple in the sky. Her eyes wavered down to the ground to see Scott battling Natasha and Steve battling T'challa. Gazing back up, Thea noticed through the glass of the terminal that peter was already fighting against Sam and Bucky.
Using a powered hand, Thea shot it out, causing a blast of purple to smash through the window. The gaping hole in the glass gave Thea a chance to enter the building without injuring herself. She landed on the ground of the terminal silently, the glass from the broken window rained over her.
"You have a metal arm?" Thea could overhear the sound of Peter's voice. "That is awesome dude!" Peter said in amazement.
Thea peered down the large hall of the terminal and saw Bucky's metal arm in the grasp of Peters. A gust of wind blew by Thea's face, causing her hair to blow around her. She watched as Falcon flew into Peter and took him into the air.
Thea ran past Bucky and toward the flying fight. Using her powers, Thea lifted her hand and burst out a trail of purple. Her powers quickly latched onto Peter's body, growing around his chest. Thea kept running along with the fight, making sure they were never out of her sight.
Peter quickly took notice of the sudden weight covering his body. While struggling to get out of Sam's grip, Peter glanced down to see the purple smoke enclosed over his body. "Get it off, get it off!" He shrieked out.
Thea grinned under her mask and flung her hands to the side, Spider-Man going with them. She let go of her hold on Spider-Man as soon as she saw he was off of Sam.
But this didn't last long, because soon after Peter shot out another web at Sam, who barely managed to dodge.
"I swear to god, Parker," Thea muttered under her breath as she ran towards them.
Spider-Man was swinging all over the place trying to stop Sam. He was dodging attacks from left and right while swinging from the rafters.
Thea turned around when she heard a grunt from behind her. A rush of wind blew over her as she saw a large metal sign fly over and at Peter on the rafters. Bucky was hiding behind an information column and looked over it, only to get the same sign thrown back at him.
"Hey buddy, I think you lost this!" Peter screamed as threw the sign back over to Bucky. The sign just barely missing his head.
Sam kicked Spider-Man in the back, but he quickly shot out a web and swung behind Sam shooting out another web to his pack on his back. This rendered his flying useless and sent him hurtling to the ground. Sam tried to get up as fast as he could, but it was in vain because Spider-Man just shot out two more webs, which connected Sam's hands to the railing nearby, leaving him stuck.
Spider-Man then landed on a pillar and said, "Those wings carbon fiber?"
To which Sam asked, "Is this stuff coming out of you?"
Spider-Man completely ignored the question and went on, "That would explain the rigidity-flexibility ratio, which, gotta say, that's awesome, man."
Thea rolled her eyes as she ran toward Peter, Bucky following close behind.
"I don't know if you've been in a fight before but there's usually not this much talking," Sam retorted.
"Alright, sorry, my bad," Spider-Man said in reply and proceeded to jump off of the pillar and kick out, straight towards Sam. Bucky ran in front of Thea, right in front of Sam as Spider-Man kicked them both off the railing.
Thea cursed out and threw her hands down, her powers flowing out, making her lift off of the ground. With rapid speed, she flew to the group. She watched in vain as Peter shot out more webs toward Sam and Bucky.
"Guys, look, I'd love to keep this up but I've only got one job here today and I gotta impress Mr. Stark, so, I'm really sorry," Peter stuck his gloved hand out to the pair laying on the ground but while still flying, Thea quickly thrust out her own hand and her powers wrapped around his wrist. She then pushed her hand out, taking Peter out the window and crashing on the ground below him.
Thea stayed flying for a moment, looking out at the hole he had made in the window. She released her powers on herself and landed to the ground next to Sam and Bucky with a thud. She looked down at them both with a smile, even though they couldn't see it.
"What? You couldn't have done that earlier?" Bucky said in a monotone voice.
"Just be lucky I even helped you sorry sacks."
"Whatever, just...get us out of this," Sam sighed while struggling under the webs.
"You know what? Maybe I should just leave you two there to think about what you have done." Thea chuckled through her mask.
"You wouldn't," Bucky challenged.
Thea rested her hands on her hips and pretended to contemplate for a minute. "Hmm, nope you're wrong." She lifted off the ground and flew out the same hole that Peter created when he was thrown out.
Thea flew out to only see a giant gasoline truck get thrown into the air and explode once it hit the ground, almost taking Rhodey with it. She could see Steve running starting to run with Lang, so Thea flew down to them and joined them silently. Clint and Wanda quickly joined them, trailing behind Steve and Thea.
"Come on!" Steve yelled over to the side where Sam and Bucky were.
Thea snickered at them while running. She could tell they now held a little resentment towards her for leaving them. The group ran together toward the tarmac. Thea was sprinting alongside Wanda by the back of the group. But the group stopped short when the heat and light of Visions stone blasted along the ground. Thea squinted up at Vision, who was floating in the air.
"Captain Rogers," Vision announced. "I know you believe what you're doing is right. But for the collective good, you must surrender now." His face held no emotion while he said this.
Thea gulped as the rest of the other team joined Vision. They all came in, one by one until they stood strong against Steve.
Sam asked, "What do we do, Cap?"
Steve had a simple answer to this question. "We fight."
Thea stared at the opposing side, her eyes wandering to Tony and then landing on Peter. She sighed out when both sides began to walk closer to each other. Gradually, the walk became a sprint, leading Thea and Wanda to the skies. The red and purple glow mixing together to create a deeper shade of purple in the skies.
Thea blasted through the skies, her eyes set on Peter's swinging body. She knew that he would be the only one to give her a fair fight, and not treat her as a kid. Landing harshly, Thea took strides to close the gap between Peter and her. Peter immediately shot out a flurry of webs at Thea, who shot out defensive hands to stop them from hitting her. She gasped as she saw a haywire arrow, that was meant for Wanda, come flying her way. Thea somersaulted to her side in order to evade the arrow.
Peter took this as his chance to attack. Using his webs, Peter shot out multiple waves in order to restrain her. Webs shot out to restrain Thea's wrists and ankles like handcuffs.
Thea gasped at the sudden impact and fell over from the force. She landed on the ground roughly and looked up to see Peter swinging his way over to her in worry. His shadow loomed over her face as his masked face overlooked hers as he knelt down.
Thea smirked and said teasingly, "So, into the kinky stuff I see."
Peter took a couple of steps back quickly and stuttered out an incoherent sentence, "I-uh-you-wha-"
Thea took this chance and sat up, her hands and feet still bound. Purple mist seeped out of her hands and feet, consuming the webs and expanding until the webs broke. She quickly stood up to Peter trying to shoot another web at her. Thea raised a hand and pushed forward a large ball of energy to Peter. Thea smirked as Peter's eyes widened in shock at the incoming ball of energy.
The purple mist hit Peter square in the chest before he had a chance to move. He groaned in pain as he was flung backward into a plane resting behind him. Thea nodded her head at Steve, who nodded back. Steve took over Peter, fighting him harshly.
Thea looked around at the airport. Her eyes wandered, Tony was flying after Sam, Clint and Natasha were fighting each other, and Bucky and T'challa were battling. "This really turned to shit," she said while rushing over to Bucky.
Thea landed a few feet from Bucky's battle with T'challa. She winced as Bucky got kicked away from the T'challa. Bucky was thrown into a crate and hit the floor. T'challa produced claws from his gloves and aimed them for Bucky's vulnerable neck. Thea wrapped her powers around T'challa's sharp hand, the mist quickly overtaking his entire arm. She groaned as she threw him far away from Bucky.
Thea ran over to Bucky and held out a gloved hand to him on the ground. "You okay?" She asked.
"Never better," Bucky groaned as he gripped her forearm, helping himself up. "Come on we gotta meet up with Steve," Bucky said and started to run over where Steve was standing. Thea followed suit and hid behind Bucky once they met with Steve.
"We gotta go. That guy's probably in Siberia by now," Bucky said, out of breath.
"We gotta draw out the flyers. I'll take Vision. You get to the jet," Steve said.
Thea raised her hand to the air. Only Steve saw it initially. He nodded to her direction, which let Bucky know and turn around at her.
"Hi, um, you both need to go. I'll take care of Vision while you guys go to the Quinjet," Thea said to them both.
Over the comm, Thea heard Clint say, "She's right. You both need to go and get out of here as soon as possible. As much as I hate to admit it, if we're gonna win this once, some of us might have to lose it."
Sam came over the comm too and said, "This isn't the real fight, Steve."
Steve sighed and looked over at Thea and said, "Alright, Sam, what's the play?"
"We need a diversion, something big," Sam answered.
"I got something kind of big, but I can't hold it very long. On my signal, run like hell. And if I tear myself in half...don't come back for me," Lang said over the comm.
Thea looked over to Steve with confusion written all over.
"He's gonna tear himself in half?" Bucky asked. He looked over at Steve and then back at Thea, who shrugged her shoulders in response.
"You're sure about this, Scott?" Steve asked into the earpiece.
"I do it all the time. I mean once...in a lab. Then I passed out," he replied.
"This guy is crazy," Thea shook her head in disbelief.
Over the comm, Thea heard Scott say to himself, "I'm the boss" over and over again until she saw a giant version of him looming over everyone and grabbing Rhodey in the process.
"You really are the boss," Thea said to Scott, a smile forming on her face.
Steve and Bucky quickly ran off to the terminal where the Quinjet was being held. Thea looked over at their fading figures and then back at the main fight. She saw Spider-Man desperately trying to subdue the gigantic monster that is now Scott Lang and Vision joining in by hitting him right in the chest. Thea could see Vision faltering for a moment, looking at something in the distance, Bucky and Steve.
"Shit, shit, shit," Thea said to herself. She pushed herself from the ground and floated up towards Vision, who was now floating through Scott. Thea flew as fast as she could to Vision but wasn't able to make it in time to stop him from blasting down the control tower. Grunting out, she shot out a gigantic ball of mist to Vision and it latched to every part of his body. She groaned as she used all her force to subdue him from doing more damage. Vision was fighting back as much as he could, which was taking its toll on Thea. But eventually, her powers took over him slowly and she forced him down to the ground. Once he reached the ground Thea used even more power to lower him into it. Purple mist flowing out of her hands like a fountain and into the ground where Vision was. The continuous flow of power to him felt like a piece of herself was slowly dying. But she needed to do this.
With one last final push, Thea hurled Vision through the cement ground and covered the hole that he left with the rubble that lay by.
Thea then fell to the ground below her and hit it with a harsh thud. She stayed there, only watching the scene unfold as Wanda was desperately trying to hold up to broken control tower for Steve and Bucky to escape, only for Rhodey to come by and blast her with a sonic disruptor, causing her to lose her grip on the tower. The tower crumbled to the ground, but Steve and Bucky barely made it. Wanda however as holding her head as Rhodey was still subduing her. She was screaming out in pain and Thea couldn't stand it.
With a weak hand, Thea shot out one last and final wave of mist to grab onto Rhodey and throw him away from her, towards the main fight with Scott.
Her arm finally collapsed in on itself as her eyes blinked in and out of consciousness.
Thea felt the earth rumble beneath her body and the rubble to her side, where Vision was, burst open-showering the air with rubble parts, big and small. Vision came out of the hole where Thea put him, only five minutes ago. But one of the parts, the same size as her hand, came flying in her direction. She was too tired to do anything, she couldn't even lift a hand as the rubble came and hit her right on her temple, effectively knocking Thea out.
~ Author's Note ~
All rights to Spider-Man and original plot goes to the Marvel franchise and their fantastic movies and comics. I own new story lines and new characters, like Thea Quinton.
Sooooooo..... it's been a while, hasn't it? Sorry for not posting in almost 2 weeks. I just got done with finals and school so I kinda wanted a little time to relax. But now that summer is here I'll most likely be posting a lot more.
On another note, the highly waited for chapter is finally here. This chapter is probably in every Spider-Man story so I wanted mine to be memorable.
How are you liking the story so far? What are your theories? I would like to know.
