POV STAR
As you may have expected, Marco's parents had mixed feelings about seeing us. We were showered with hugs and kisses and questions. Lots and lots of questions.
I was proud of Marco, he actually told them the truth. The whole truth. Starting from meeting Red and ending with him NOT killing her. He made that second part very clear. I interjected sometimes and showed them my magic to put evidence behind his story.
When he finished, his parents didn't exactly have much to say. They first called the police and said that they had found the lost kids. Next they called the school. Then they called some people that helped look for us. Then they called some other family friends and stuff.
Then they stared at us for a while, comprehending what we just said.
"Please believe us." I say. I twiddle my thumbs and I exchange worried glances with Marco.
"So you lied to us?" Mrs. Diaz snaps with a frown. "At the beginning of the year, I mean."
"I guess so..." Marco mumbles. "But we did save a planet from total destruction!" He and I spread a cheesy across my face.
"Well you will be grounded." Mr. Diaz states.
"Aw." Marco groans and looks at his feet.
"But only for a month." Mrs. Diaz adds. I look at Marco and smile.
"Really?" I gasp.
"Thank you!" Marco cheers.
"Yes and I don't want ANY dimensional travel. You have no excuse." Mrs. Diaz shouts strictly.
"Aye, Madam!" I joke with a solute.
However, I knew that could be bent if bad stuff was going to happen. They weren't going to be like 'The multiverse is out of balance? Nope sorry you can't help, you are grounded.'
"You guys are awesome!" Marco cheers.
"Well you did save a planet." Mr. Diaz smiles.
"But Marco I want no more witch hunting!" Mrs. Diaz looks into Marco's eyes and points.
"Of course! Those days are behind me anyways." Marco admits.
"And Star," Mrs. Diaz points to me. You see, I fought monsters and a powerful witch and NOW I feel fear. "No practicing magic inside the house. We don't need another fire."
"Of course. No problem." I smile and rub the back of my head. Did they think I caused the fire?
"Now," Mr. Diaz stands up, "come here my two heroes!" Mr. and Mrs. Diaz grabs us and squeezes us in a hug. Marco and I catch eyes and laugh.
"C'mon," Mrs. Diaz let's go and we follow we into the kitchen. "Let's get those nasty bruises and cuts mended."
"That sounds good." I rub my arm which stings like crazy.
Although all these cuts, that would definitely leave a scar, made me feel calm and happy.
Because we won.
And nothing could change that.

POV MARCO
It was rough going to sleep that night. I was so tired but I couldn't get comfortable. Images of what happened throughout this year flooded through my head. Man, it sure sucked. Star and my messes seem to intertwine whether or not we wanted it to. I mean, this all happened because of Star but it was my mind that was hacked like an old video game.
So... Sigh.
"Hey Marco?" I hear a tiny voice call. I sit up and go to the wall.
"Yeah?" I respond.
"Are you asleep?" Star answers.
"Star I responded what do you think!?" I say in a harsh whisper. Wow, Jason has rubbed off on me.
"Sorry!"
"So what's up? Can't sleep either?"
"That's as stupid of a question as mine!"
"Oh right." I slide my back down the wall and sit against it. I hear Star do the same through the thin wall.
Silence.
"So we... We kinda dated... Huh?" Star finally says.
"Uh... Well I mean..." I was at a lost for words. My face felt hot. I felt so stupid.
"Don't worry Marco. I-I don't like you like that." Star mumbles.
"Oh..."
"So I was... You know... Just wondering what we did."
"We... I mean Red and I... We kissed. And hugged. Normal dating stuff."
"I see,"
Silence.
"What was this about a tree?"
"Huh?"
"Red told you to remember a tree. That was it."
"It was just..." I sigh. Man did I screw up. Like Star would ever like me that way. She probably only thinks of me as a brother or a friend.
Or a stranger.
"What?" She says softly.
"A Cherry blossom tree. On the light Planet. It was really beautiful. Maybe next month I'll show you."
"It sounds beautiful." Star admits.
Silence.
"Hey Marco?"
"Yeah?"
"Does it all feel like a dream to you? Like you will wake up tomorrow and it would all be a dream. We will still be in our rooms, it would be a month away from Christmas, I would have my wand, you would be in your karate classes and just... Normal life."
Silence.
"Hey Star?"
"Yeah?"
"I hope that isn't true. I feel like our life has just started a new chapter. I feel like we have both grown a lot throughout this and seen so many new worlds."
"Yeah."
"If this was all a dream... I don't know what my life would be like."
Silence.
"It's Saturday." Star observes.
"Yeah." I respond.
"I wonder what people will be like on Monday."
"Probably shocked."
"I guess."
"They'll probably ask about Lily."
"Yeah," I almost laugh.
"What are you going to tell them?"
"That Lily was an evil witch from another dimension that possessed me and tried to kill you and take over Mewni."
"So... The truth?"
"Yup. My lying days are over."
"Good for you."
Silence.
"So how do you think your mom's doing?"
"Civ? She's fine."
"Aren't you concerned about her?"
"Nah." I hear Star was bang against the wall like he's shaking it. "I talked to her. My mom is really, really cool about not being an evil person."
"How so?"
"She's just stopped caring about the world."
"Ah."
"I think she's gonna stay in that cave forever."
"Wow. That's a change. From conquering the world to barely being a part of it." I almost laugh.
"Not everyone can change. Good thing my mom was one of the few that could."
"Yeah I guess we are lucky." I sigh. Civ obviously changed tremendously. Would Red without her powers be the same?
Silence.
"Hey Marco?"
"Yeah Star?"
"The world is gonna change, isn't it."
"Yeah I guess it will."
"When we go our separate ways... Will you forget me?"
"I never want to Star. You were my first dance, my first adventure, my first real friend. You are the reason my life isn't boring anymore. You may have gotten stuck on Earth and I may have gotten stuck with you, but I couldn't think of anything better!"
"Wow thanks Marco." She yawns. I can tell she's getting tired but I'm still wide awake.
"Don't worry Star." I look into the darkness of my room and smile my best smile ever. "You'll always be my new girl!"

NOTE: If you are a cool person you would have noticed that the first chapter in the whole series is also the name of the final chapter in the whole series! COOL RIGHT!? I'm awesome!
