Beating Heart- Spock

-MichelleKirk Here ya go! Sorry it took a while, silly laptop deleted it TWICE...I have learned my lesson to save my drafts on another document haha oops ENJOY

You stood off to the side eyeing the alarmingly handsome Khan as he stood brooding in his glass prison. Spock had his back to you but having him there made you feel a bit better about the situation. You were starting to understand Spock's hesitancy to let you go through with being a red shirt security officer. Perhaps you should have gone into ship detailing like you first planned.

Spock's shoulders tensed as the superhuman stalked around the cell, telling them of who he was and how he came here. He also didn't like the fact that Khan would turn and look behind him at you every once and a while. Spock was about to ask for you to leave but something Khan said made Spock's thoughts stop and his blood boil.

"But it would seem as though my race is not as extinct as I was lead to believe." Khan's voice was smooth and deep, almost drawing you toward him. "Now tell me; have you experienced times of sudden strength, endurance far greater than your fellow crewmates, days without rest yet you feel rested, nights where you are sure you can hear every living being breath?"

You stood in awe at him, having unconsciously come to stand next to Spock. Spock looked down at you not liking the look of rapture on your face. He tentatively reached down and grabbed your hand, stroking the back of your hand with this thumb, slowly bringing you back to the present.

Khan watched your face. "I take your silence as a yes. You are what we were before we were enhanced." He then let his eyes flit to your intertwined fingers, his lips pulling into a knowing sneer but he kept his thoughts to himself. He will find time to search your heart later.

You didn't like the look this dark man gave you and how he was able to see right through you. It's scared you but at the same time, it was exciting. What more did this man know about who you were and what you could do?

Soon Kirk and Spock were called to the Bridge, leaving you to guard Khan in the medical bay with five other red shirts. But before you and Spock went your separate ways, Spock pulled you out of sight from Khan, pressing you up aginst a wall gently. His eyes searched yours as he hesitantly reached up to stroke your cheek.

"Please be careful. I am not fond of the way he was looking at you and his apparent keen insight into your life." His voice was low and you couldn't help but smile at the apparent concern in his voice.

You leaned forward and up on your tiptoes, pressing a kiss to his ear, then his nose before leaning your forehead against his. "I love it when you worry. I trust Kirk as do you so I am sure we will both be alright."

Spock gave you a small nod then closed the distance between you, pressing his lips against yours. You were almost scared by the intensity of his embrace like he was never going to kiss you or hold you again. Still, you kissed him back, matching his urgency. But it was over as soon as it started, you standing there holding him as he placed light kisses on your shoulder and up your neck, leaving one last strong kiss on your lips. You kept your eyes closed as you tried to fix your breathing but Spock's hands on your waist, his thumbs making circles, didn't help. You almost pulled him in for another kiss when he suddenly pulled away.

"I love you."

It was quiet but the energy and the love in his voice was unmistakable. Your eyes snapped open but you were alone. He said it. He said it first. His words lingered in the air, making your heart beat faster. This wasn't like him but at the same time, it really was. You were startled out of your thoughts by the sound of Khan laughing.

Right. You need to watch over him. Great.

You kept your eyes away from him as you took the lead in escorting him with five other security persons to the med bay. The whole time you could feel the tall man stare you down. You hated that he made you feel...excited, almost alive when he was around. You shook your head and stood by the med bay doors, keeping it open and making sure they all stepped in.

Carol Marcus smiled at you as she stood by Bones, the brooding doctor staring Khan down like a wolf hunting prey. Except Khan was a mutant and could kill all of you in a matter of minutes. A shiver ran through your body. Best not think that way.

Khan took a seat on a biobed, sitting like he owned the place. You made the mistake of looking at him, confirming what you already knew. He was looking at you, almost like one would look at a meal. You shivered again. He gave you a small smile.

"What if I told you that I could become powerful?"

You ignored him, not wanting to feed his ego or make him think that you were interested. It scared you but you were interested. Very much so. But you weren't going to be selfish and let him talk you into possibly killing ever more people. He just needed to be put back in one of those tubes.

You let out a breath once you felt the ship hum back to life. Bones let out a gruff sound as he started to scan Khan. "Well, at least we're moving again."

Khan looked at you as he spoke. "Do you really think you are safe at warp?"

You and Carol locked eyes as you both get the same idea. You race after her as she runs to the Bridge. Khan's words buzzed in your mind making you wish you were never born like this. Born like him.

The ship shook as it took hit after hit from the looming ship before them. You step onto the Bridge, breathing hard and looking up at Carol talking to her father. You thought things would be fine but your stomach dropped as you watched her be beamed out, Kirk running after her as she disappeared. You covered your mouth to quiet a gasp. Now everyone will die.

You felt a hand take yours pulling you to a warm body. You looked up, tears threatening to fall as Spock gazed at you. You leaned into him as you listened to Kirk beg for his crew's freedom. But it was all for not. He turned and apologized.

Spock held you to him as you buried your face in his shoulder. You closed your eyes as Spock made small circles on your back and you snaked an arm around his middle. You opened your mouth to declare your feelings to your strong Vulcan but the words died on your tongue as Kirk let out a whoop and Scotty's voice came over the comms.

Mayhem erupted as the crew members got to work trying to salvage what was left of the ship. Spock took your hand and had you stay close to him. You wordlessly complied, not wanting to be separated again.

Spock was at first worried he would never be able to hold you again but was thankful you came to the Bridge, and even more thankful he had said how he had felt earlier. Now it took everything in him not to steal you way in a pod in order to protect you. But he knew better. He took what moments he could to brush against you, hold your hand, or press a soft kiss on your head.

You were in a daze. You heard something about Kirk and Khan going to the other ship and taking it over but you didn't trust Khan. You volunteered to go along much to Spock's displeasure. You didn't give him time to fight you on this. You just wanted to make sure your captain would be safe.

So before you were sent out to the vacuum of space you kissed Spock thoroughly, making the tips of his ears and cheeks turn a light shade of green. Khan looked on with disgust, sneering. You ignored him as you stood next to Kirk, ready to help save your crew.

Spock watched with fear but showed none of it as he called for Scotty to open the hatch door. You were holding onto Kirk as his mask continued to spiderweb from hitting a rock. You closed your eyes as you entered the large ship, letting out a cry alongside the men as you slid across the floor. Spock let out a breath, not liking the feeling he had of watching you almost die.

You hurried along with the men as you took down guard after guard, rushing to the main deck. Blasts went off in ever direction, making your ears ring. You let out a cry as a bold hit your shoulder causing you to drop your weapon and fall to the ground. You gasped in pain as you watched everyone got taken out by Kirk, Scotty, and Khan. But what you didn't expect was Scotty to shoot Khan and to see the man wink at you as he fell to the ground.

The pain grew and it became hard to focus. Your head hurt and your body ached but you stayed awake. You blinked back tears as Khan suddenly stood attacking your Starfleet friends. You heard Carol scream off to the side and you flinched as the sound of bone breaking followed. You tried to stand as you blinked away the pain that blurred tour vision. But when you could finally see you didn't like stood before you. Your three friends were down and glowing with that of being transported. You were about to stand again but Khan pointed to you.

"Not so fast. You belong with me."

Spock saw that the torpedoes were on the ship and that Kirk and the others were back but not you. He dared not detonate them with you onboard. But you had other plans. You had stumbled your way to the front controls while Khan spoke harshly with Spock. You popped your head in, smiling at the crew one last time.

"what do you think you are doing?" Khan hissed as he tried to push you away, but you punched him in the face. Hard.

"Saving my friends." You shook your hurting hand as you looked Spock in the eyes, wishing you could kiss him one last time. "Now Spock, now." You turned away not wanting to see his face before you said your last words.

"I love  you."

Spock leaned gainst the wall of the infirmary as he left Jim to rest. He had to find something to busy his mind so he didn't think of...

Had Uhura not beamed down on that trash carrier Spock would have killed Khan right then and there. The love of his life and his best friend were dead because of him. That is until Bones was able to use Khan's blood to bring Kirk back.

But you. You were still in critical condition. You were maimed. You were in and out of consciousness. Spock had yet to bring himself to see you. He hated seeing you in pain. But Jim was furious with Spock for not seeing you so Spock made a promise to see you.

He entered your room slowly, keeping his eyes on the window behind you. You were resting, awake, but resting. He didn't want to disturb you but that was hard to do when you knew when he was close by. He sat on a chair next to your bed, not yet looking at you. You peeked an eye open, rolling it as you saw your boyfriend act like you were dying.

You lifted your hand and gave him a light smack on the arm. "And here I thought you wanted to break up with me. I lost my leg, not my life."  Your voice was weak but your small smile showed you were stronger than you looked.

Spock turned to you, his face turning slightly green. All he could do was stare at you, drink in your bright eyes and sweet smile. Not caring about anything but you, Spock leaned over and kissed you, making you giggle in surprise. The both of you held onto the other for dear life. Spock didn't leave that room until you threatened to never see him again unless he went to go bathe. But you were both happy the other was saved.

You were happy you didn't decide to help Khan when you survived the shipwreck.

You were happy Spock still loved you.

Holy snot...you try writing 45 minutes worth of a movie in 2000 characters or less hahaha SOOO sorry if that seemed rushed...there was a lot of detail and so little time/room.
