Chapter Seven

Next week! My wedding was next week. I had fought with my dad about it for an hour but he stood his ground. Mother just stood there and silently agreed. Maids came in to size and sew a new dress for the arrival ball. After awhile they came back and put me into a dark blue dress, with no straps and a purple ribbon around my waist. Grey jewels faded up the dress. This dress was more fancy than the one I was wearing earlier, with the big skirt. My makeup and hair was fantastic, with silver eye shadow and light blush. I was a little uncomfortable with the eyeliner and mascara, but when I saw what I looked like in it, I instantly loved it with my curly hair.

"The ball is in one hour. Please be careful not to mess up your makeup and hair," Hope begged.

"I promise." I assured her.

All of the maids left and alone, I got bored. I went out onto the balcony and sighed. I loved living here, but I didn't want to get married at sixteen. Despite that, I decided to respect my parents wishes. They just wanted me to be happy. I smiled to myself a little - maybe I'd find a guy that I really liked. I clung onto that one piece of hope and waited until the ball started.

*************************

Trumpets and lights. Millions of voices.

I stood in front of the ball room doors, awaiting my entrance. Then I heard it - the long note of the trumpet. Guards slowly opened the doors and millions of hands were cheering, just for me. I smiled from ear to ear as the clapping died down. The head servant of the castle read a speech and the ball began.

Music started up and people started dancing or eating all the appetizers. Slowly I walked around the walls of people. Multiple men of all age, bowed to me and said how happy they were to see me. I kindly thanked them and continued towards the center of the ballroom where my father was dancing with my mother. I approached my father and he turned into me. "Oops! Sorry my dear."

"It's okay, father," I said, a small laugh leaving me. He laughed too.

"Now, try to find a prince to dance with," he instructed.

"Ok," I said, giggling. I walked away as my mother was giving me a thumbs up.

********************* All night I was searching for the right guy.

About to give up, I saw him. Walking towards me was a handsome young man with ink black hair and light blue eyes. Freckles sprinkled his tan face. I blushed as he smiled at me. "Would you care to dance, Princess Skyler?"

"Of course," I responded back in a way that sounded cooler than I felt.

The rest of the night we danced and laughed. I got so comfortable around him that when I accidentally tripped over my gown, I didn't feel embarrassed at all. On the last dance he was spinning me around, then he let go of my hand and dropped to his knees. Once I got my balance back, I gasped. In his hands was a black box and in the black box was a gold ring, with a sapphire in the middle and tiny diamonds surrounding it. It was the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. Then he spoke, taking my attention off the ring, "Princess Skyler, would you do me the honor of marrying me?"

Everybody stopped what they were doing and stared at us, including my parents. I knew that he was the one. If I had to get married this soon and this young, he was the one. Sure of myself I gladly said, "I would be honored to marry you."

Everybody clapped and suddenly I realized something - I didn't know his name. "Prince Justin." He said, reading my mind. I laughed and the ball continued, much longer than it was scheduled. Justin and I danced even more. I still couldn't believe I was getting married this young. But I knew my partners

would have everything figured out. To end the night, Justin dipped me down and gave a long, sweet kiss, before bidding me farewell.
