"Gorgeous, noo! Just stay home with me," Tae whines as he cuddles closer keeping me trapped in his arms.
"Tae, I can't bail again it's been weeks," I protest wiggling my way out of the bed.
He sits up and nibbles on his bottom lip clearly debating telling me something. I sigh and hover over him pressing a kiss to his forehead and his brows scrunch together cutely. I then press a kiss to the tip of his nose and he reaches up cupping my face just to connect our lips.
"I'll be back this afternoon don't miss me too much," I laugh before pulling away and grabbing clothes to shower.
"Who's going to be there?" he asks as he leans against the sink brushing his teeth.
"Just me and Kookie. He's got big news," I say excitedly.
I've missed him and this will be the first time we are actually going to see each other in person since his birthday. Every time we planned to hang out as a group or just with each other something's come up, but today we scheduled a breakfast date at the spot between both our places and I'm so excited.
Jimin won't be able to make it but I'll be meeting up with him for lunch, I feel terrible he's really wanted to talk to me about something personal but I just haven't been able to part from Tae. He's been trying so hard to make amends for the past few months.
He's really been an angel, showing up at work for mini lunch dates, picking me up, and even a small weekend getaway last week. He's been great at home helping with the chores and even stocking up on things he noticed I needed. The time apart during Christmas really did wonders and we have fallen back into our honeymoon stage. I haven't been willing to put the distance between us and jinx things.
"No Jimin?" he asks curiously.
"Nah, not this morning, but I'll be meeting him for lunch," I say nervously not wanting to upset him.
"What about our lunch date," his voice sounds tense, and my pulse quickens.
"We can miss one day, baby. He really needs to chat with me," I shut off the water and dry myself off as Tae quietly watches me.
He follows me into the bedroom, sitting on the edge of the bed with his hands picking the lint on his pajama pants. I can feel his eyes on me as I slip on my underwear and search for an outfit. When my eyes finally meet his in the mirror, I can see he's upset.
"I don't want you to see Jimin," he says all of a sudden, and I turn around to face him confused.
"What?! Why?"
"I just don't feel comfortable with it," he says with a shrug of his shoulders.
"You're being ridiculous," I laugh a little thinking he's just joking, but his face stays stern and serious. "You know Jimin, he's your friend."
"Thats why I'm not comfortable because I KNOW him. It's not a good idea for you to keep hanging out with him"
"I've known him since we were kids, Tae. He was the closest person to me for years. I can't just abandon him," I say placing my hands on my hips annoyed that he's trying to dictate who I can be friends with.
"Like he abandoned to you?" he says with a raised eyebrow and I feel my heart clench. That was a low blow and he knows it.
I turn around from him and tug on my jeans and look for one of Kookie's hoodies I've stolen. I hear the sheets shuffle and Tae's arms wrap around my chest as he holds me to him.
"I didn't mean how it's come out, Gorgeous. It's just you knew him as a kid and I've known him as a man," his grip tightens around me as I try to get out of his arms.
"If you knew him at all, you would know he's a sweet, funny, and caring friend," I pull away finally and scowl at Tae, but he looks hurt.
"I didn't want to tell you this and make you scared of him, but he's obsessed with you, Aviva," his hands drop to his sides and he looks utterly defeated.
"What are you even talking about? No, he isn't."
"You're all he ever talked about, Aviva. He never said your name, just said best friend, and I don't know how I've never ever put it together hearing your stories about him, but when you blocked him years ago he went kinda psycho. He made fake accounts to follow your activities, he was so sure you guys would end up together. I remember one time our senior year he was talking about how his best friend was going to Canada with her other friend to see her real father and he was so upset because it should be him going," Tae pleads his case and inches closer to me.
I freeze, panicking a little because how would Tae even know about me going to Canada? We don't ever talk about my father and how would Jimin have known? Kookie would never have told another soul about that trip...
"He has only come home because his ex couldn't stand being the second woman in his life. She left him and he decided to come home to find you, Gorgeous. I'm so scared for you knowing now that it's been you the whole time. I love you so much, I don't want anything to happen to you," he wraps his arms around me and pulls me close pressing my face to his chest.
I allow him to hold my tense body as I try to make sense of his words.
Not Jimin. My sweet, caring, wouldn't-hurt-a-fly Jimin. Not the Jimin who cries anytime he sees a wounded animal or who always puts others before himself.
"I need to go, Tae," I croak out and push away from him tugging on Kookie's hoodie.
Tae grasps my wrist and his eyes bore into mine, pleading with me to listen to his words. "Just ask Kookie, okay? He knows Jimin's in love with you too, everyone can see it but you, Aviva."
I nod my head and grab my purse and keys as I quickly exit the apartment and jump into my car. I connect my phone to the speakers and dial Kookie as I start making my down the road.
"What's up, Chicken Butt?" he answers cheerfully.
"Change of plans I'm coming to yours," I say tightening my hands around the wheel, trying to keep my thoughts from taking over.
"What happened?" I can hear the worry in his voice.
"I just need to talk some things through and a public place won't do," I answer truthfully.
"What we talking? Like Mickey D's Door Dash or like Pancakes and Jack?"
"Rum and fruits."
"Shit, okay. I'll leave the door unlocked and pull down our blanket," I can already hear him opening the fridge.
"Thanks, Kookie. See you soon."
"Drive safe, see you soon, ugly."
I continue down the road in complete silence not wanting to believe Tae, but why would he lie to me? He loves me and he did look scared. My phone dings scaring the shit out of me. I swerve a little as the stereo tells me I have a new message from Jiminie 🐣💙.
I open it and my stomach feels like my intestines are tying themselves together.
Jiminie 🐣💙:
I can't wait to see you at lunch.
I have something VERY important to tell you.
Love you, have a good day.
