Chpater 5
"Socks broke out!!!" Oof announced, running passed Blaza and Tbh, presumably to tell everyone else.
"How? What? When?" Tbh stammered, failing to get answers from Oof.
Blaza just stood, stunned. Socks had broken out? Why did a small part of him feel happy about it?
It wasn't long before everyone had heard the news and gathered to discuss what they'd do about it.
"I say we track him, he must've left some hints around the cell."
"Socks is too smart to leave anything behind, no, we have to find a way to bait him."
Nadwe tried to get a word in.
"Guys, there's-"
"We can't just sit around and wait! He's probably long gone by now."
Slightly fuming, Nadwe tried again.
"There's-"
"That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."
"Better then your idea!"
"GUYS! THERES FOOTPRINTS LEADING INTO THE WOODS!" Nadwe screamed, pointing.
Finally, he'd gotten everyone's attention. A collective "oh." Echoed throughout the group as the shouting died down.
"The trail ends pretty soon in, but if we split up and search we can probably find him." Said Tbh after bolting after the trail.
"I'll go this way, you guys do whatever." He added, walking off before anyone could protest.
(—— POV Switch ——)
Socks had been running through the trees for awhile, Wiktoria a few feet behind him. Once he was sure he was far enough to not be found, he stopped and sat on a small pile of fallen leaves.
"Guess I should make a shelter, huh?" He said as Wiktoria plopped down next to him. She just mooed.
With a sigh, he got up and started to gather wood.
(Time skip because I'm lazy)
He placed down the last log, and at last, he'd finally had a decent hut set up.
Wiktoria mooed, looking up at the hut like a proud mom.
"You should probably go back home." Socks admitted. "I'm not the person you'd want to be associated with right now."
She looked up at him, at first seeming confused, but then realization flooded over her. He was right.
She trotted off, throwing one last glance back at Socks before turning and cantering out of sight.
(—— POV switch again ;-; ——)
It had only taken Tbh a few hours to get lost.
He probably should've had a plan when he stomped off into the woods, but, of course, he didn't give any thought to the fact that he had no idea where he was going, forget any idea how to get back.
At last, he slumped down by a nearby tree in defeat. How was he supposed to find Socks if he couldn't even find himself?
He wasn't sure when he had dozed off, but when he awoke the moon was high in the sky.
Tbh sighed, staring intensely at the trees as if he could make them give him directions.
The woods seemed so infinite, ready to suck him up in its many trunks and keep him forever.
How far had he even gone? He'd let his feet carry him for hours, never even thinking of how far he might go. He could be on the other side of the world, for all he knew!
A flutter of wings to his left sucked him out of his thoughts and back to reality. He turned to see a small bat, its small black eyes examining him curiously.
"Hey little guy." He added softly, "Are you lost too?"
At the sound of the word 'lost', the tiny creatures ears pricked, and it's gaze shifted straight to Tbhs face.
He was a bit taken aback by the sudden stare from the creature. he'd never made eye contact with a bat before, and it was creepier then he would've thought. It's small eyes stared at him as if he were it's food.
Wait, what if he was it's food?
Tbh slid away from the creature, the thought causing him to tense. As soon as he moved, the bat spread its wings and lept at him, landing on the back of his neck.
Tbh shrieked as it's fangs buried themselves into his spine, sending a shiver of pain through his head. Strangely enough, the bite had only given him a headache. It was as if the bite itself didn't exist!
The world started spinning, sending the crab into complete darkness.
