The road seemed to be endless and they were getting tired of walking but kept pushing forward anyway.

Amethyst had asked Pearl how long they'd been walking and she had said it had been roughly two hours.

Hour or not, it looks like nothing changed and it felt like if they looked back they'd still be by the highway.

Peridot's POV

It's been an hour or two since the incident and Lapis hasn't said a word since then.

I keep telling myself she just needs more time to process it, her and Jasper's relationship wasn't perfect.

It had its ups and down like all do but they'd been together since middle school, when they'd let me join their friend group.

Not gonna lie, I was starting to miss those two buff clods already.

I thought I'd be fine with it but though Jasper was a jerk to me, she was still my friend though I'd hate to admit.

I sighed and looked back a Garnet who held Lapis and then turned to face forward again.

The group was so quiet now that they were gone, they lightened the mood. More Bismuth than Jasper but she had her moments.

Whether it was Jasper bitching about another crashed truck or Bismuth making puns and jokes a random.

I miss it, I'm sure we all do.

No one's POV (I know it's called like third person)

The walk continued for what felt like two hours before the group actually began to see a car blockade.

Lapis was still distant but she was walking now "watch your feet, zombies could be under any car" was all she said as they moved.

They all shared a look before continuing to approach the blockade, the closer we got started to see a cardboard sign on one of the cars.

Everyone got closer and a loud bang rung out, we all dropped and scrambled towards the cars for cover.

Looking around check on each other, Opal's scream got their attention "GARNET NO", fear filled their hearts.

Opal pulled Garnet's limp body behind the cars, she held her close a sobbed "what the fuck what the fuck" Peridot mumbled.

Lapis glanced over the sign we'd seen originally and it said: "Trespassers shot on sight"

Lapis scoffed, "well that was some fucking warning" she hissed "the fuck do we do" Lapis said loud enough to hear over Opal's cries.

Pearl tried comforting Opal but it was no use, Amethyst's faced twisted in confusion once again.

Why would someone shoot Garnet?

Why are people hurting other people?

Shouldn't they all be on the same side?

Cause those guys that took us from the others were bad and these people killed Garnet.

Amethyst was coming to a conclusion, everyone outside of this group is bad.

They all should just die.

The ground began to rumble.

It wasn't fair, Garnet didn't do anything wrong.

The wind started to pick up.

Where these the people who ran us into that ditch?

They got Bismuth and Jasper killed.

That's not fair, her eyes glowed a bright purple.

Peridot glanced over "um guys, she's doing a thing" she said nervously "Amy calm down it's-" "NO IT'S NOT" Amethyst snapped.

"People keep dying and it's not FAIR" she stood up and walked out into the open, a loud bang rang out but instead of having another lifeless friends she turned into a mist.

They stared in shock and suddenly heard a string of gunfire and screams, after some point it got quiet.

They all exchanged a look and by now Opal's cries a stopped and she tightly gripped Garnet's corpse.

Amethyst suddenly came around the car "they're gone" she said blankly as the others all stood up.

Amethyst shifted her gaze to Garnet "can we bury her" she asked, they all looked to Opal who sat quietly for a moment before nodding.

We found a dirt spot in the field nearby, Amethyst blasted a hole in the ground and the others placed her body in hole.

Amethyst found a stone and carved Garnet's name into it and placed it near the hole.

The others began burying Garnet, Amethyst closed her eyes and then found another rock and carved Bismuth and Jasper's name into it.

She walked over to the others who finish burying Garnet, "can we put this there too" she asked.

They all have her a soft smile "yeah, that'd be really nice" Lapis said placing it next to Garnet's Grave stone.

They all stood around for a moment before Peridot suggested they'd get a move on because it's a bad idea to be out in the opened and the horde has caught up to them twice already and let's not make this a third time.

Agreeing they all headed towards the city were the sniper was, the closer we got the more corpses they saw.

All fresh.

"I left one" Amethyst said getting all of their attention "what do you mean" Opal asked, "the sniper" she said kicking a man who groaned in pain.

The man's legs were bent backwards like two boomerangs.

Everyone in the group gave him a dirty look, Lapis looked around and grabbed an empty rifle off the ground.

She stared down at him and Peridot was the next to catch on and found a plank, Pearl and Opal caught on last.

They shared a look and Opal pick up a metal pipe while Pearl simply found a dirty rag and began to gag the man.

Before he could process why he was being gagged the butt of the rifle was being brought down on his back.

His screams were muffled as the three girls beat the sniper to death Opal finishing him off my breaking the metal pipe over his head.

They all stood there, three of them with blood soaked hands and out of breath.

Sharing a look, the group quickly searched the bodies and traveled deeper into the city.
