Chapter 4
"Let's go children, quickly now!" Fairy God mother exclaimed as the kids were all saying goodbye to their parents. "Promise that you will all be safe?" Belle asked, earning a chorus of yes and nods. The group climbed into the limo that would bring them to the isle. From there they would have to find Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos, defeat Maleficent and fix everything. Easy. Ben looked at the other side of the bridge apprehensively. None of the kids had ever left Auradon before and were all terrified. "Now remember to stay with me at all times!" Fairy Godmother said, the kids nod their heads absently. The car stopped in front of Maleficent's 'castle' if you could even call it that. "Eww, what is that smell?" Audrey questioned as they all stepped out of the limo. Ben hushed her as he looked around, a small figure caught his eye, standing in the window of the third floor of the building in front of them. If it wasn't for her bright purple hair he wouldn't have been able to recognize her. "Mal," he whisper. The others all turned around to look at him. Ben pointed up to the window as they caught a glance of her purple hair before she disappeared. A girl with turquoise hair, of whom he assumed was Uma, walked over the castle, waiting for something. Soon the purple haired fairy emerged from the building followed by Jay and Carlos. Ben wanted to run over and hug her, assure her that everything would be alright; but, Mal didn't even glance in their direction. As the two girls walked away Jay and Carlos noticed the group and immediately an over to them.
"You guys should not be here!" Jay started "Its dangerous and you guys don't know how this place works!" Carlos added "There is nothing you can do to help us because of the stupid barrier" Jay started but was cut off by Carlos, "Fairy Godmother's wand works here remember?" Carlos questioned looking up at the older boy, a disapproving look on his face, "Oh. They still shouldn't be here it's not like they can do anything without being able to get to Evi- shoot, I'm going to shut up now." Jay stated. The group exchanged worried glances as Jay and Carlos began to sneak away.
"What do you mean we can't get to Evie?" Doug asked, his face red from anger. "You see, well she and um, well Mal and Evie um," Jay started, unable to find the correct words, "The Evil Queen invited everyone but Mal to Evie's sixth birthday party. Maleficent decided to banish them for excluding her daughter. No ones seen them since." Carlos explained slowly, so everyone understood. "Although some of the stupid kids who go near their lives place say they can hear her screams from inside of the castle!" Jay said as Carlos slapped him. "Not funny Jay!" He stated. "Mal is so upset she's completely shut us out and is always with Uma." Carlos explained sadly. He wished they could save Evie, they had already tried but they couldn't get into her place no matter how hard they tried. "Well, why don't we see if she's really there?" Fairy Godmother asked, "I can use my magic." She explained after receiving numerous confused looks. The children all nodded, "Not here though, let's go to my place, Dad's not home." Jay suggested.
Soon they arrived at Jay's small home and went inside, making sure to lock the door and close the curtains. "Okay, let's see." Fairy Godmother stated before opening a one way window type thing.
"Leave me alone!" Evie sobbed, trying not to scream as the men in front of her kicked her in the stomach, causing her to fall to the floor. The girl knew what had happened, she over heard her mother talking to someone, who she could only assume was Maleficent, about their plan to take over Auradon. That was the day her mother disappeared. Now she was here, alone, being abused and tortured by some random men. She tried to get away but they just grabbed her and threw her against a wall, "where do you think you're going?" One asked. Evie was terrified, all she wanted was to be able to see her friends. The blue haired girl knew they wouldn't come to her rescue, they had no clue what was happening to her. Soon the men left, leaving Evie to tend to her wounds. She cried softly as she hummed a certain tune,
'You can find me in the space between, where two worlds come to meet. I'll never be out of reach. Cause you're a part of me so you can find me in the space between. You'll never be alone, no matter where you go cause we can meet in the space between.'
Evie screamed as something shattered behind her. She turned around to the taller, older looking man and broken plates surrounding him. She looked into his empty, soulless, eyes. He stared blankly at her, "you missed a spot." He said. The man then walked away. She didn't know their names, all Evie knew was that they weren't going to let her out alive.
"Hey, she could be getting worse?" Jay said trying to sound confident, breaking the awkward silence that had fallen between the group. "Do you mean to say that it is normal for an adult to treat a child like that?" Jane questioned. The two boys looked down at their feet, suddenly finding the floor very interesting. "Yeah..." Carlos whispered hoping they didn't hear him. Fairy Godmother ushered the kids along, suggesting they look around the isle, hoping to run into Mal.
