Chapter 2

*??? P.O.V*

I'm sitting at my desk, on high alert of my phone as I am expecting a very important phone call from a very important person. My twin daughters are playing in their room and I can't stand the thought of having to explain to them one day why one of their parents isn't in their lives.

I could barely explain it to myself, I could barely accept it, I've no idea how to present the girls with such information.

I was given instructions a number of days ago and I will follow through with them, altough I am tempted to break them, I'm not going to. I was always strong willed and I will continue on being so, it helps in keeping my promises. I made a promise years ago and I will stick to my strong will not to break it.

"Heya!" I heard Olive call to me from her doorway.

"What is it honey?" I responded, looking at her instead of the blasted phone.

"Olivia fell from the bed, she's crying..." Olive explained, she spoke well for a 7 year old girl. I stood quickly and walked into their room to check on Olivia. She was sitting on the floor, tears spilling from her eyes.

"Hey love, don't worry, it's all okay, it's all good baby. It will get better." I spoke, kneeling down next to her, embracing her in a hug.

After a few minutes, Olivia calmed down and she stood, asking me: "Where is the other one?" I frowned, swallowing the growing lump in my throat and replied quietly: "On a business trip dear, one day they'll come back, don't worry. Now go play with your sister." I shooed her off  and watchd her run off to play with Olive again, seemingly satisfied with my answer. I smiled after her and for a brief moment wondered if my mother felt the same when I was 7 years old as I do now. My poor, lonely mother. I ought to visit her sometimes after I fulfill my duty and my instructions.

As I said, this was incredibly important to my significant other and I can not let them down on this. I can't let down Olivia and Olive. Heh, Olive, what a strange name to give to a female child, but my significant other's favourite color is olive green and we liked the ring of it for one of our twins, and Olive she stayed, and Olive she will be until the end of her days.

Heh, talk about how to get your kid bullied in school by naming them after a vegetable.

I bring myself out of their room and back to my desk, where I hopefully check the phone for any missed calls, or messages, anything. A sigh escapes me as nothing shows up on the screen, aside from the picture of us.

Me and the love of my life.

I smile as I remember the day this picture was taken. We were both so young and crazy back then. It was our 1 year anniversary and I remember they took me to the strangest place possible for celebrating an anniversary:

'It was a warm day and my soulmate took me to an interesting place to celebrate our one year anniversary. It was the roof of their house. They set up a picnic there, on the roof, can you believe it?

Haha, it was actually very romantic and memorable despite it's oddity. The Moon and the stars looked beautiful from where we lay on the thick woolen blanket  at night, having spent the entire day up there, just enjoying each other. They begged me to make a promise to them, right then and there, under the stars and the Moon.

"Promise me, that when that day comes, you will do as I say, and follow my instructions, please."

I was puzzled:

"Why?"

"Because I don't want to leave anything to chance. Please, promise me that."

I nodded in understanding and took a hold of their warm hands:

"I promise."

Their smile lit up the entire sky better than the Moon and stars ever could and the sweet taste of their lips lingered on mine long after that kiss of gratitude, that night, under the Moon and under the stars.'

The memory faded into the deep corners of my mind again, as I sighed loudly. I miss them, I do. It's not easy raising 2 kids alone. I didn't realise then how heavy of a promise I had made, I suppose because I was young and reckless, I never even thought it would come to this, and yet now it did, and now my promise lays heavy upon my shoulders, but I must keep it.

It is one of my significant other's greatest wishes after all.
