Twenty Two

We rushed to return home when we learned about Olivia's kids and I couldn't resist scolding her in frustration.

"Hindi ko talaga maintindihan kung bakit nilihim mo yon sa amin, babae ka!" Amanda kept quiet as I scolded Olivia when we were on the van on our way home.

We decided to go home when her nanny called her saying that her twins are being sent to the hospital because of high fever that won't go away.

"Mauunawaan ka naman namin kung hindi ka sumama kasi may mga anak kang inaalagaan. Hay, sumasakit bangs ko sayo!" I groaned and almost slapped Olivia who was crying nonstop because of worry. "Kumalma ka nga!"

"Wag mo kasi sigawan, 'di ba!" Amanda exclaimed slapping my thigh.

Olivia was seated between us and Amanda could only hug her for comfort.

"Wala na ba tayong mas ibibilis pa, hon?" Leni asked her boyfriend.

"We can't do that. Baka mauna pa tayo sa ambulansya pag ginawa ko yun." Stuart said in his British accent. "Just comfort her while I drive us there."

"Tahan na, friend. Hindi ko pa man nakikita ang kambal, feel ko na strong sila. Kaya chill ka lang ha." Leni said, turning to face them and touched her leg in assurance.

Leni asked impatiently.

"An hour if there is no traffic." Stuart answered.

"Can we go at any drive thru place? Hindi mabuting walang laman mga tiyan natin pag punta doon." Amanda suggested.

"There's a McDonald's place kilometers away from here. I'll drive there to get us food." Stuart said and looked at her in his rear view mirror.

"Thanks, guys. Sorry." Olivia said in a small voice and wiped her tears.

Amanda kept silent and continued comforting her. After letting out my thoughts, I chose to stay quiet because I could only say words of discouragement.

That has become my attitude whenever a crisis comes to me. I tend to be pessimistic and a cussing machine.

I started learning their behaviors only recently. And now that Olivia is in a fragile state, I can't help not to observe once again her friends' reactions and advices.

After about twenty minutes, they were munching on burgers, fries and coke float as Stuart continued driving to the hospital.

Leni, as a loving and caring girlfriend, fed her boyfie as he maneuvered the car to their destination.

"Thank you sa food, Jessica." Leni smiled turning to look at me.

"Pasalamat kayo, ganito ako pag na-iistress ang ganda ko." I glared and continued eating.

"To naman. Pasmado ka na naman." Amanda joked and punched her on her arm careful not to touch Olivia's skin. Olivia tends to be sensitive thess days. She wouldn't want to provoke any emotion from her as of the moment. She didn't even bothered to ask what's going on between her and Mr. Jin. She decided there's another time for that. Right now, Olivia's kids are more important.

I could hear Stuart talking into the phone with some guy named David probably asking for shortcuts and directions.

It was only ten minutes before Stuart parked his car in the hospital's garage and we stormed out to the emergency door.

Quickly, Amanda closed the door and followed them.

"Antonio siblings is at room 612, Ma'am." She heard the nurse assigned said to Leni.

The group immediately went to the elevator and waited til it reached the desired floor.

As we headed to the kids' room, I noticed the couple older than my late parents standing and talking to a man in his thirties outside Olivia children's room.

"Oli, anak." The older woman hugged Olivia as soon as she came to them. "The kids are in their room, sleeping. They were calling for you but we told them that you'll be coming soon so they fall asleep."

"Kamusta na po sila?" Olivia asked and looked at her parents with teary eyes.

"The doctors said that it's probable dengue since on and off daw ang lagnat nila according to Yaya Lani." Olivia's mother said and comforted her daughter. She noticed Olivia's friends and smiled at them.
"You must be Olivia's friends. Come inside. I'll send you dinner."

"Mga kaibigan ko po pala, Ma. Sila Stuart, boyfriend po ni Leni. Leni, Jessica and Amanda." Olivia introduced us one by one and we all went inside.

Olivia's parents got their grandchildren a private room which was bigger than I expected.

There was even a small couch and a small table for visitors to put their foods and/or well wishes to the patient.

There were two hospital beds for the twins to rest comfortably as they recover.

Both the twins have fair complexion and cute pointed nose. There eyes seem to be a little slanted, which possibly inherited from their father.

Olivia touched the girl's cheek and kissed it. She did the same to the boy.

The kids seem to notice it and they instantly woke up.

"Mommy!" the twins said in unison as they both started to sit.

"Careful!" Olivia said in her mommy tone as she helped the girl sat up. Their nanny, must be Yaya Lani, helped the boy sat up. "Kamusta ang babies ko? Where does it hurt?"

The girl pointed her chest while the boy placed a hand over his forehead.
They pouted almost at the same time.

"Ang cuuuuteeeee!!!" I exclaimed when I realized how adorable they are and the twins look at me in surprise.

The twins looked at each other and started crying.

"Ano ka ba, bakla!" Leni slapped me while Stuart laughed hilariously on the chair. Amanda laughed and wiped her tears at the corner of her eyes.

"Natatakot sila sa 'yo!" Amanda chuckled and simply checked her phone inside her bag.

"Hush, Olga and Oliver. They are mommy's friends." Olivia said and wiped her kid's tears.

Olivia introduced them and I smiled sheepishly, my face red with embarrassment.

Leni giggled with Stuart hugging her from behind as they were seated. Amanda sat on a separate chair with me.
