He was still confused. “What do you mean?”

I believe in one thing. “Don't be with someone who makes you happy. Be the one who makes you happy.”

He shrugged. She sighed. “I meant to say that you don't need to find happiness in others. It is inside you.”

“Happiness? Inside?”

“Like you buy a new shirt and wear it for the first time. Look into the mirror and compliment yourself. Don't wait for someone to compliment. Never think that a person who is single is sad. Never think that people who are together are happy.”

He gave a thoughtful nod. “Is this the reason why you hated my books?”

She replied, “There are plenty. One of them being what you think about relationships.”

“What is that?’

“You believe that everybody is born perfect. Like perfect height, weight, colour and other things. You're wrong.”
