Michelle opened the door for Kendall, having to break free of her hand since she had to use both hands to hold the door. Look, she has noodle arms and it's windy, let her live. Besides that, they entered the dance with shockingly not the response Kendall was expecting.

Everyone was hanging out and dancing like it was no big deal, aka not Kendall's expectation. She had been so conditioned to what people think of trans people that she thought people would look at her and Michelle weird when they entered the dance, but that wasn't the case and Kendall couldn't be more happier about it.

The two girls were greeted by their decathlon teammates minus Peter and Liz, and they were all excited to see them together. Kendall noticed how Ned wasn't with Peter like he always is, but she assumed it was because Peter has Liz as his date, although they had yet to arrive.

"You guys look so good!" Betty complimented them, and all the other girls agreed.

"Love the matching outfits. Are you two, like, together?" Cindy asked.

"We came together." Michelle replied, trying to yell over the blaring music.

"Cute!" She giggled, then went back to mingling with all the other decathlon teammates.

Despite barely being five minutes in, this was shockingly not bad. Kendall had no complaints to far and neither did Michelle. They were glad to have support from their teammates, even if they were secretly questioning the whole "are they or aren't they" thing. Even Kendall didn't really know herself, but she'll just act like she knows exactly what's up.

A few minutes later, the group found Liz coming towards them alone, which caused from confusion from Kendall. Shouldn't she be with Peter right now? Did he mysteriously leave or something?

"Liz!" Everyone greeted her. "Where's Peter?"

"Oh, you know those dad pep talks." Liz laughed. "My dad is giving Peter one of those in the car right now."

"Yikes." Betty cringed. "I'm sure he's scared out of his mind right now."

"Don't say that! He'll be fine." She playfully rolled her eyes.

"Well, I see him coming now." Cindy pointed, and everyone turned to see Peter walk in with an odd look on his face. Liz ran up to him to see what was up, and it wasn't going to end good at all.

"Hey." Liz grinned at him, noticing the anxious look on Peter's face, but she played it off without any growing concern. "Aw, come on, what did he say to you?"

"Gotta go." Peter said, and Liz's smile immediately disappeared. "I'm... I'm sorry. You don't deserve this."

Peter ran off, much to everyone's surprise, leaving Liz speechless. Michelle turned her head to see where Peter was going, but immediately turned back to Kendall and shrugged it off. Sure, she had her suspicions, but tonight was about her and Kendall.

"That was interesting." Michelle joked, tugging at the neckline of her dress.

"Yeah." Kendall replied. "Don't you think it, um..."

"Weird?" She questioned, and Kendall nodded. "Well, yeah, but-"

"But don't you think there's some sort of reason?" Kendall asked. "I mean, you're observant of him, what do you think?"

"Well, I, uh, I don't know how to tell you what I think." Michelle frowned. She really didn't want to sound like a lunatic in front of her date, but little did she know what Kendall has gone through just to get to this point. The girl can handle a little more craziness.

"God, what am I thinking?" Kendall questioned herself even though Michelle was right in front of me. "I don't know why I'm so fixated on this. I guess you could say I've had my suspicions."

"Wait, me too." She replied, her eyes almost lighting up. "You think he's spi-"

"You think he's a drug dealer? Cause same." Kendall interrupted, which was not what Michelle expected to come out of her mouth.

"No..." Michelle said.

"You're telling me he doesn't sell drugs?" She whispered, and Michelle nodded. "What do you think then?"

"I think he's Spider-Man." Michelle whispered.

Kendall looked at Michelle with a confused face, seeing that there's absolutely no way that's the case. "No way!"

"I'll explain later. Let's just have fun tonight." Michelle insisted.

"Fine by me." Kendall shrugged. Her theory did get Kendall thinking, even if it was a little bit crazy, but she'd much rather spend her night having fun with Michelle and everybody else. Despite the weird parts, the night was going so well already.

"You guys!" Their teammates called for them. "They're playing the Cupid Shuffle! Let's go!"

"You know how to dance?" She asked Michelle.

"No way." Michelle shook her head.

"Well then I guess I'm gonna have to make you dance with me." Kendall grinned then took Michelle's hand and dragged her to the dance floor.

2 hours later

"So I put my hands up, they're playing my song, and the butterflies fly away!" Everyone yelled at the top of their lungs. "Nodding my head like, yeah. Moving my hips like, yeah."

The night had gone by far more perfect than Kendall imagined. Everyone was truly having a blast together, and most importantly, Kendall was having the time of her life with Michelle. If only there were some sort of cherry on top to end the night, but they would have to see what happens next.

"I got my hands up, they're playin' my song! You know I'm gonna be okay!" They continued. "Yeah, it's a party in the USA. Yeah it's a party in the USA."

The song ended, and the DJ began playing a familiar slow song to end the night off. Kendall anticipated there would be slow dancing involved, but she assumed that she was off the hook, well, until now. "Alright, y'all, we're gonna slow things down with this last song of the night. Take a deep breath, grab a partner, and enjoy the song."

"Lying in my bed, I hear the clock tick and think of you. Caught up in circles, confusion is nothing new."

Kendall and Michelle looked at each other as everyone was already coupled up, not sure how this was exactly supposed to go. Nobody hesitated when they got into the slow dancing position, but the two girls were far too nervous to know what to do.

"I guess we-" Kendall began.

"Dance?" Michelle interrupted.

"Yeah." She nodded.

The two attempted to get into position, moving their arms back and forth, struggling to figure this the hell out. "Should I-"

"I'm taller, so-"

"Okay, um-"

They went back and forth until they finally got it right, Kendall placing one hand on Michelle's waist and Michelle placing one over her shoulder, using their free hands to interlock fingers. "Perfect."

"Sometimes you picture me, I'm walking too far ahead. You're calling to me, I can't hear what you've said. Then you say, "go slow", and I fall behind. The second hand unwinds."

Kendall smiled as Michelle looked at her, a smile growing on her face as well. The two girls swayed to the music despite their hearts beating rapidly, but they ignored it as they let the music drown their thoughts completely.

"If you're lost you can look and you will find me time after time. If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting time after time. Time after time."

It almost felt like the world was theirs and there was no one there to stare. In fact, no one stare at all. It was like it was all normal, which it is. Nothing else mattered more then this moment right here, right now.

"Time after time..."

As the song ended, Kendall and Michelle snapped back to reality. Students started exiting the gym once the music stopped playing completely and the principal announced the dance was over, so the two girls decided to get prepared before they headed back home.

"Let's go grab our stuff and pray nobody stole anything." Kendall giggled, and Michelle immediately agreed and went out to check out where their stuff. After successfully grabbing everything with none of it being stolen, they slowly exited the school as the swarm of kids were all squished together with one goal in mind; leave.

Once managing to get out of the building and also the crowd, the two girls headed over to the parking lot, managing to find Michelle's car with barely any struggle. You couldn't miss that busted up car anywhere since the parking lot was full of newer cars in way better condition.

Michelle did the same thing as earlier, aka opening the door for Kendall. Never did Kendall ever feel so much like a lady in her entire life, and she loved every single bit of it. She gladly got in the car with a smile on her face, and Michelle did the same.

"Safety first." Michelle said as she put on her seat.

"Right, right." Kendall replied, doing the same as well. "We never saw Peter again, huh?"

"We'll see him Monday. Don't worry about it." She shrugged it off, turning on the ignition. Michelle actually didn't want to think about Peter for once. Why, you're wondering? Because Kendall was right next to her.

"No complaints there." Kendall lightly laughed, then they drove out of the parking lot, even though they were going to have to wait an eternity to actually get out of there.

•••

About a half hour later, they made it back to Kendall's house to drop Kendall off, even though neither of them wanted this night to end at all. They felt like they could spend time together for an eternity, but unfortunately they didn't have that kind of time.

Michelle went up to Kendall's front porch with her, insisting that she makes sure she gets in safe, but Kendall wasn't complaining whatsoever. Plus, it was good to know that she could feel so safe with her.

"So, end of the line." Kendall blushed.

"Yeah." Michelle said. "Um..."

"Um?" She raised an eyebrow.

Michelle, out of nowhere, quickly kisses Kendall on the cheek, blushing super hard right after she did that. Kendall's cheeks immediately turned red, and she pursed her lips in an attempt to keep her cool.

"Wow, um-" Kendall paused. "G-goodnight, Michelle."

"MJ. My friends call me MJ." She said, much to Kendall's shock. This whole time she had been calling her Michelle when really she should've been calling her MJ, but she had no idea. But also, friends? Maybe she was in the friend zone, even after that cheek kiss.

"Friends?" Kendall questioned.

"And someone who may be more than a friend." Michelle, ahem, MJ smirked. Okay, that was the validation Kendall needed. Consider it the cherry on top of the night.

"Well, goodnight, MJ." She blushed then went to unlock her door. After unlocking it, she stepped inside, waving at MJ before she headed down to her car. MJ got into the driver's seat, waving from the window, receiving a wave back from Kendall. After that she turned on the ignition once more, driving away to go back to her house.

Kendall shut the front door and locked it then looked out to see that MJ was gone, which meant that she could do this:

"Yes!" She squealed. "Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!"

"Had fun?" Her mom asked from the living room, receiving a chuckle from her dad who was with her too.

"I think she had fun." Her dad joked.

"I definitely had fun." Kendall grinned. "I'll be up in my room. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, honey." Her mom cooed as Kendall went up the stairs, and she actually was repulsed by the pet name for once.

Kendall kicked off her shoes as she entered her room, shutting the door behind her. She didn't even bother to take off her dress and her jewelry, that's how excited she was. MJ considered her as more than a friend, and it was no doubt the best news in the world for her. If she could fuck up and still be liked by her, then she's doing just fine.

Oh, man. She just had to write in her journal right now. No need for praying anymore.

oh AND friendly reminder that (as of june 2020, there might be a different link in the future) there's a link in my bio full of resources regarding petitions, places to donate, etc for the black lives matter movement. if you're gonna sign petitions on change.org (which you should), DON'T donate money to them! donate to more credible places (like a gofundme) that will actually use the money for their cause. change.org is for profit and will only use the money for themselves.

lemme stop rambling and let's get to the final entry!
