Spring - Antonio Vivaldi
A/N I play the shortened version which is in my book. I want to get a book of just "The Four Seasons" though.
"Charlie, come down for dinner please!" I heard my mum yell from downstairs. I ignored her and continued to practice the piece for my upcoming concert. It was in less than a week and my teacher told me yesterday that I had to play "Spring" from "The Four Seasons" by Antonio Vivaldi.
Just great. I wanted to play something easy like "Raiders of the lost ark" by John Williams. So far I had only played "Spring" in the lesson for 20 minutes but I was determined to do well. I would stay awake all night if I had to!
After another 10 minutes of my mum's nagging and dad's yelling I finally decided to go downstairs. I placed my violin in its case and jogged downstairs.

"Charlie, slow down, you'll choke!" My mum warned me. I turned to her to speak.
"Would you rather me talk about BTS, K-Pop and K-Dramas then?" I asked innocently.
"No." My mum and dad both replied flatly.
"Well then." I said and continued eating. "Besides, I really need to practice if I don't want to make a complete fool out of myself in front of an entire hall of people." My mum sighed and looked down at her plate.
"You're a very good violinist, you'll be fine!" She said.
"No, do you remember that guy last year we saw at the concert? He was so much better than me!" I argued.
"What guy?" My dad asked.
"That was last year. You've gone up a grade since then." I gave up. There was no point in arguing any longer.
"What guy?!" My dad raised his voice.
"Okay, I'm done, see you." I said as I got up ignoring my dad's question.
"Wait, when are you doing the dishwasher?" My mum asked.
"When Dean goes to bed." I replied.
Dean is my little brother. He annoys me 23/7 what about that other 1/7? He's asleep or out of the house. I love him though because we're family and I feel obliged to.
I quickly ran out the room and raced back upstairs. The second I was back in my bedroom I picked up my violin and started to practice again.
I tried to remember all of the articulation and accidentals. Every slur, dynamic, shift and staccato. I put the CD on and listened to the example violinist and accompaniment playing.
I sighed. 'this is gonna take me forever' I thought. I tried the piece again while playing with the CD piano only accompaniment. I finally managed it but I had messed up on the middle section. I heard Dean walking upstairs for bed so I reluctantly put my violin back in its case and went down stairs.
Loading the dishwasher took 15 minutes. I know because it took roughly 5 badly sung (by me) BTS songs to get through it. The second the last plate was in the dishwasher I went back upstairs.
I got out my electric violin and swapped the shoulder rest over. I then plugged in the headphones and continued practicing.

"Charlie, go to bed now." My mum said. I hadn't noticed her come into my room as I was so concentrated in the music.
"But Mum, I'm practicing! Rose told me to play this only YESTERDAY." I said.
"Whatever, Charlie. Sleep. Otherwise I'll confiscate your violins. It's midnight for crying out loud!" My mum spat.
"No it's not!" I argued while looking at the clock. "It's only 11:45pm!" My mum rolled her eyes and shut the door. I growled in frustration and turned off my CD player and put both of my violins away. I got undressed, brushed my teeth and went to bed.

The rest of that week was the same. I would practice every opportunity I got. As it got closer too the concert, I was getting more and more anxious. It was two days away and I still kept tripping over the middle section.
"Charlie, bedtime now." My mum said as she came in.
"You didn't knock." I stated. My mum knocked on the door.
"Well it's pointless now!" I sighed. My mum chuckled.
"What's up?" She asked.
"I hate how Rose gave me such a hard piece!" I said. "I can't do it! I'm going to ask her again on Saturday if I can change pieces."
"I'm going to email her to tell her you find it hard okay. Get some rest night night." She kissed my head and left the room. I blew four kisses through the door as she closed it.

"Charlie, Nan's here!" Dean shouted from outside my door. I was reading the score for "Spring" I had finally managed to get the whole piece right, including the middle section. I was so proud of my self. But I still messed the middle section up sometimes.
"Sure." I said. I got off of my bed, opened my door and walked downstairs while still reading.
My Nan only lived across the road, literally, but it was still always really nice to see her. "Nan guess what!" I said.
"What?" She asked.
"My violin teacher told me to play 'Spring' in the concert!" I chirped. I was a lot happier knowing I had some chance of being able to not mess up.
"Wow, poppet! Well done!" She smiled as she hugged me. I embraced her back. I inhaled the sweet smell or her perfume and fell into the soft touch of her warm, smooth skin.
"I'll show you!" I said as I bounced upstairs to grab my violin, music and the CD. When I got back downstairs I placed the CD into the CD player and put it on the right track. As I heard the metronome count me in I got ready to play.
'1. 2. 3. 4. 1. 2. 3.' I mentally counted. The CD piano accompaniment started playing and so did I.
I fell deep into the music as I played. I managed to confidently play the middle section. I finished with a grin. My mum, nan and Dean all gave a small round of applause. My dad was at work.
"Woo! Well done! When you started violin I never thought you'd be able to be that good. I didn't think you would be able to play that!" My Nan said. I giggled and smiled awkwardly. "I mean it. I'm so proud!" she continued.
"Thank you." I squeaked shyly.
"Seriously, well done, Charlie. You've improved a lot. If you play it like that it the concert I couldn't be more proud!" My mum beamed. I smiled again and disappeared back upstairs. I put my violin, music and CD away and decided I was tired so I went to sleep.
