08.

Sol awoke to the sound of scratching.

The sound made his skin crawl. Muttering numerous profanities under his breath, he threw his covers off him and swung his legs out of the bed. Pausing briefly to stretch, his frown only deepened when the scratching against the door continued.

Sol didn't need to open the door to know who was behind it. That wolf was going to be the death of him.

One glance at the alarm clock on his bed side table told him that it was too early to be awake right now. With a few big strides, he reached the door.

Wrapping his hand around the door handle, he twisted it before pulling the door open. Just as he expected, the female wolf sat on the ground in front of his doorway, her paw raised. It seemed that the poor door had been on the other end of her impatience as many scratch marks littered the bottom of the door, but that wasn't his problem.

Hopefully, no one would notice.

Seeing as he had brought her along with him, he would have to pay for any damage that she caused. And unfortunately for Sol, she wreaked havoc wherever she went.

The female wolf was just a magnet for danger.

Sighing, Sol closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. His eyes were still droopy with sleep and all he wanted to do was climb into bed and bury himself under the covers, but there was never any peace around with the she-wolf around.

Sol pursed his lips when he opened his eyes and found the wolf to be missing from her spot on the other side of the doorway.

Closing the door, he turned around and got back into the bed, pulling the covers so that it covered both of them.

Beds weren't exactly made for wolves to sleep in, so the covers seemed to bunch over the wolf, leaving very a minimal amount of fabric for Sol. Grabbing onto the end of it, he tugged until he was completely covered and no longer exposed to the harsh touch of the winter air.

Throwing his arm over his eyes, Sol closed his eyes and willed himself to go back to sleep.

But he could feel her eyes on him.

He tried to ignore it at first. He kept his eyes closed and tried counting sleep, not that it had ever worked before. But when it got too much, Sol sighed and opened his eyes. Tearing his eyes away from the fuzzy sight of the ceiling in the dark, he turned onto his side and pulled his sheets tighter around him.

Sol was used to sleeping with a blanket as well as the sheets during the winter, but seeing as he was on another's territory, he would just have to make do with what he was given. But what he didn't have to make do was having a wolf sleep in his bed with him.

Sadly, it seemed that he wouldn't be able to do anything about that situation.

The wolf rested her head on her paws, her head resting on the side. She watched him in the dark. Sol could tell that she was falling asleep, with the way that her eyes were drooping, but the staring was still creepy.

She didn't even look away when he returned her stare. She had guts, he had to give her that.

"You're supposed to be sleeping downstairs." Sol stated sleepily, his eyes closed as he talked to the wolf. "They're going to wonder where you are when they wake up in the morning and find you missing." When he didn't hear anything as form of acknowledgement that he had even said anything, he peeked through one eye.

The wolf only blinked in response and buried her father further into her paws, nuzzling her nose against her fur. It was pretty adorable, even he had to admit it.

"You're not great at listening, are you?" He asked her, and smiled a small smile when she attempted to growl at him, but the sound came out as more of a purr as she was half asleep and dazed. "You do pretty much anything you want to do."

"That's pretty impressive," he noted aloud, and couldn't help but smirk when she peeked up at him from where her face was buried in her paws. The wolf stared at him briefly, her eyes lingering on his face, almost as if she was trying to make sense of his words. She must have given up because she released a sigh like sound before closing her eyes once again.

It seemed that she wasn't too great at taking compliments.

"Why are you not able to shift back to your human form?" Sol asked, not at all surprised when the wolf didn't say anything, not that she would be able to since she was still in wolf form. But he had expected some sort of reaction at the very least.

"Do you remember what your human looks like?" He asked, curious but once again, no response. He wasn't sure if the wolf was genuinely asleep, or if she faking to be asleep so that she would be able to dodge his questions.

He had a feeling that she didn't like it when he started asking about her human form.

"What happened to you?" By this point, the wolf wasn't even moving except for the slight fall and rise of her chest. Sol wasn't even sure why he was speaking to her when she wouldn't be able to answer him back in words, but he just blamed it on the fact that it was the middle of the night and he was sleep deprived, thanks to the wolf in question.

Sol allowed silence to engulf them. He watched as the wolf drifted off to sleep, leaving him alone to his thoughts.

It was strange to be back in pack land, even if it wasn't his own pack. His wolf had been on edge all week, being on another Alpha's territory. It seemed that no matter how hard he tried to run away from the life of being an Alpha, or even more importantly, being a wolf, Sol just couldn't escape it.

Especially not now, since he had this female wolf depending on him.

Sighing, Sol groaned to himself before he loosened the blanket around him. Sitting up briefly, he covered her with one end of the sheet while he scooted closer to her so that he was covered by it too.

He couldn't have her freezing to death, he was starting to get used to having her around.
