[Flashback]

I was sitting in my apartment, rewatching some SMG4 videos, most other watchers would consider me a modern fan, getting into it during 2018 when it began to delve into some story driven ideas, people always argue about how modern SMG4 is crap compared to its original years, or how it's evolution is necessary, but personally I never really cared about all of that, I enjoyed watching it, and that's enough for me, heck, I might be one the few who never really cared about the redesigns either. After a while, I decided to stop for a moment to begin writing

Y/N: alright, I've watched enough, I should probably get the prologue done now... (oooor, I could keep watching smg4 videos)

Only to immediately ignore that to procrastinate some more and watch smg4 videos, I decided to rewatch the most recent WOTFI, and possibly the most controversial

Out of all the WOTFI's, most complained about this one the most, mainly because they disliked it as an arc ender as well as many of the redesigns, again though, I never really cared, I just enjoy his videos, so I continued to watch it, however something changed

Lawyer Kong (on video): That's it, time to finish this

Y/N: (huh, that's weird, I don't remember him saying that)

I then watched as I saw Lawyer Kong tackle and begin to fight SMG4, only top get up and steal...

A Robotnik head?

SMG1: You fool, put that meme down, you don't know what your messing with

Lawyer Kong: I know what I am, the last meme, I will end this cringing mess and restore order to the Nintendo IP's

SMG1: NO YOU FOOL, the memes are a part of our world, you sease that meme and you doom us all

I was very confused, I wondered if I stumbled on some sort of prank video, but checking everything, it was the same one I watched several times before, looking back to the screen, I saw Lawyer Kong do the deed

Lawyer Kong: no more tomfoolery, no more games, no more memes, CEASE AND DESIST

and with that, The Robotnik Head, the last meme, disappeared...

In reality, after that the video began glitching out, it began to flash, showing images of the apocalypse as several SMG4 characters watched in horror people dying, people crying, people just doing what people would normally do in an apocalypse, and then, my computer just crashed, nothing, no errors, no blue screen of death, it just, cut to black, I closed my computer assuming that something was simply wrong and I needed to get it fixed, that was until I felt a large Crash nearby, confused, I rushed outside in wonder on what just happened, I opened the door only to see exactly what just happened in the SMG4 universe, fire, meteor, people dying or crying, I tried to follow them to any safe area's, but several pieces of debris blocked my path, I was blocked off, and about to die alone. However, a ship came flying down to save me, the doors opened to reveal two familiar faces...

Y/N: WHAT THE- SMG1 and 2, what are you doing h-

SMG1: There's no time to explain anymore than your choice right now, the world is changing and dying right now, and according to our friend, you'll be able to not only save it, but change it for the better, so what do ya say, up for saving the world

knowing that the rest of the world is about to die, the option was clear

Y/N: ...What do you need me to do

SMG2: first off, GET IN THE CHOPPA and we'll explain along the way, man that was just as cool as when I first said it

and so, I boarded onto their ship, awaiting whatever new adventure would take me, and while I know this sounds like the ending to a flashback where I cut back to where we started, a bit more context is required 

[Flashback Timeskip, a Flashskip if you will]

I was on the ship watching as the cosmos flew by, just wondering what just happened just then

Y/N: okay, as thankful as I am for what you did, do you mind explaining to me what just happened

SMG2: well it's a long story

Y/N: considering all we're doing is flying through the cosmos, I'm sure we got time

SMG1: very well then *pulls up laptop* recognize this

I look at the laptop and see that it has the 2022 Wotfi playing currently, and the exact same problem showed, a black screen that showed nothing more than the worlds end

Y/N: yeah, it's the end of Wotfi 2022, but last I checked, that wasn't how the video ended

SMG1: and you would be correct with that assumption, a new evil has appeared and it's more dastardly than others

Y/N: What? I don't understand

SMG2: well then your in the same boat as us, we seen him a bit before, but never knew anything about him other than how he had a large amount of meme energy coursing through him

SMG1: he appeared claiming to be the 5th SMG, and disappeared until now with Funky, and destroyed the last pingas

Y/N: okay, but what does that have to do with the apocalypse

SMG1: it's all because of the blasted DMCA, all things non-Nintendo were either destroyed or ceased to exist, that includes every meme in the world, our worlds run on the meme lifeforce, so if there's no memes...

Y/N(shocked): then there's no life, the world would cease to be

SMG2: BINGO

Y/N: but what about Nintendo Memes, the fan content

SMG2: hah, FAN CONTENT, do you know how well Funky and Nintendo work with FAN CONTENT, the only memes they allow are memes officially made by Nintendo, and sadly, Luigi dabbing in a spinoff won't provide any meme energy, but we digress, the world is in danger and if we want to stop the apocalypse, we'll need to go back, but we'll need more help

Y/N: ok, more help, I totally get, but why me

SMG2: well in truth, the world was in a panic and we didn't have much time to pick a specific person

SMG1: however, that doesn't mean you weren't an incorrect choice, I've seen those folders of yours, your a content creator, just like many of us Meme Guardians

You were shocked, and slightly annoyed that they were spying on you and your stuff

Y/N: no, I'm not, they're all just demos, nothing worth posting

SMG1: ...we all think that time to time, but even something free, can soon have value, look I understand the harshness towards us, we took you from your home, possibly your family, and are forcing this duty on you, none of us desire to do this, but it has to be done, the choice is yours, of you can't, we'll just find another

As confused and annoyed as I was, they were both sincere, and they both needed help now more than ever, as much as I wanted to run back home to remain a side character, I couldn't just leave them, besides, it's not like I have much else to return to

Y/N: *sigh* the world will be in ruins anyway by now, but if means stopping all of this, I'm in

SMG2: YAY, alright new buddy lets get this show on the roa-

and just then the ship begins shaking and tumbling

SMG1: oh no, we're almost out of time, quickly, follow me 

so we all got up and ran towards the back of the ship, back there I see another guardian pod

Y/N: so what do I need to d-

SMG1: you need to enter the pod, the needed coordinates are already in there, it will send you to our where you can make a difference, there you will need to-

SMG2: and one more piece of advice, when the angels fall, be the Alchemist

Y/N: WHO, WHO TOLD YOU, AND WHAT ABOUT YOU GUYS

SMG1: we're still needed in the here and now, once we send you off, we need to get back and fight

SMG2: answers will all come in due time, just trust us, NOW PUNCH IT 1

and with that, SMG1 punched the button, shooting me out towards space

That leads me back to where we are now, me hurtling through space, inside of flashdrive, on course to SMG4's version of the mushroom kingdom, I'm not sure what I can do, nor what all of this means, but no matter what

Y/N: I'm gonna save this world and get it another chance

And the first part of the prologue is finally finished, sorry that It too awhile, I was struggling to figure out how to start this up without giving too much away, and in the end this is what I settled with, Hopefully I can get the next chapter out a bit quicker than the last one, but until next time, have a good night
