screening
THE MOMENT THE car door opened, Reyna stepped out, eliciting a chorus of excited screams from the fans waiting behind the nearby barrier. She smiled brightly and waved to them; the mere sound and sight of her fans was enough to send an overwhelming amount of happiness into her body. She adored her fans; she adored every last one of them. If Reyna could, she would treat them all to a nice dinner and take them shopping as payment for everything they've done for her over the years, but since she couldn't, she settled on taking as many pictures and videos as she could and signing as many autographs as possible.
Reyna stood by the car and waited for Anthony to make his way around. He smiled as he approached her, and he held his arm out to her, which she linked with her own immediately.
"Y'know, I really do like that dress on you, Baby Rey," Anthony complimented her as he lead her over towards the fans waiting behind the barrier.
Reyna smiled up at him, picking her dress up to prevent it from dragging across the ground. "Thanks, Mackie. You look pretty nice tonight, too."
"Please. . .I look nice all the time, Rey," Anthony remarked.
Reyna simply chuckled and shook her head at him as she moved further and further towards the fans. She smiled brightly as she approached several of the fans, most of whom had their phones and notepads out ready for pictures and autographs. She and Anthony spent about five minutes rushing through pictures and autographs before being ushered inside the building by a few handlers in order to take pictures.
"Where even is everyone?" Reyna asked as she and Anthony continued down the line.
Anthony shrugged and posed for a few pictures, leaning down to whisper in Reyna's ear. "You and I are the late ones. I forgot to tell you that."
"Oh my gosh, you dumbass," Reyna said through her teeth.
"Reyna, can we get a few of you alone?" one of the photographers called out to her.
"Yeah, Reyna! Over here!"
"I'm gonna go find our people. I'll be right back," Anthony told her before rushing off.
Reyna let out a sigh before turning to the cameras, smiling and posing as much as she could before she completely lost her shit; she absolutely hated taking pictures unless she was shooting promotional material for one of her movies or taking pictures with her fans and her friends.
About three minutes later she was saved. Anthony reappeared, this time with Chadwick in tow. Chadwick smiled the moment he saw Reyna, and before she could even think he was wrapping her small body in a tight hug, ignoring the sound of cameras flashing and clicking behind the two of them.
"You look so nice, Chad," Reyna said as she pulled away, smiling up at him.
"Thank you, Reyna," he replied. "I already told you that you looked beautiful on Instagram, but I'll tell you again—you look beautiful."
"Stop hitting on my date, Boseman," Anthony playfully scolded Chad as he linked his arm with Reyna's once more. "I think it's about time we head inside, don't you?"
Chadwick chuckled and nodded, linking his arm with Reyna's free one. "Sure, man."
The two men and Reyna continued on throughout the building and towards their designated screening room. Soon enough, they finally reached the door that led to the room where the cast was originally supposed to meet after they had finished with pictures. Anthony pushed it open, gesturing Reyna inside the over-sized room before following behind her with Chadwick.
"I see that I am once again the only female present," Reyna started as she noticed Robert, Jeremy, and Chris talking to one another on the sofa. She had yet to spot Sebastian, Joe, Anthony, Paul Rudd, or Paul Bettany, but she knew they were in the room somewhere; it was a big room, meaning there were multiple places for them to go without being spotted.
"Look how cute you are," Robert mused as he removed himself from the couch. He gave Reyna a quick kiss on the cheek before hugging her.
"Why thank you, Downey," Reyna smiled.
"By the way, you're wrong," Chris told her as he stood up to hug her. "Sebastian brought Margarita back here, regardless of the fact that he wasn't supposed to."
Reyna frowned and pulled away, her brows furrowing. She was hoping she wouldn't see Margarita tonight, despite the fact that Margarita seemed wholeheartedly excited to see her. She didn't like Margarita, and she never would. Any confrontation between the two of them was only grounds for disaster, but it seemed as if Reyna was going to have to set aside her differences this time due to the fact they were in a public place.
"I was really hoping she could've been left outside with the rest of the celebrities who aren't cast members," Reyna muttered to Chris.
Chris sighed and gave her arm a comforting pat, "You and me both, kid."
"ReyLynn!" she heard Sebastian call from behind her.
Reyna let out a breath at the old nickname and turned around, feeling a bit happy that Margarita hadn't accompanied him over to greet her. A ghost of a smile appeared on Reyna's face as she met Sebastian's eyes, and he smiled widely at her before wrapping her small body in a tight hug.
"Hey, Sebastian," she greeted him. She pulled away from him after several seconds, though she found that didn't exactly want to do so. Sebastian brought her warmth and comfort, and the moment she pulled away it disappeared along with him.
"You look absolutely stunning, Reyna," Sebastian complimented her, trailing his bright blue eyes up and down the length of her elegant, floral printed dress. In his opinion, he believed that Reyna looked better than Margarita did, though he would never verbally admit that for the sake of sparing Margarita's feelings.
Reyna grinned, running her hand up and down her arm. "Thank you, Sebastian. You look nice, too," she told him. There was something hidden in Reyna's tone of voice, however, something Sebastian couldn't seem to pick up on.
"Hey man, your girlfriend's askin' for you." Paul appeared behind Sebastian and clamped his hand down onto his shoulder, attracting Sebastian's attention.
Sebastian glanced over at Paul, his brows furrowing in question. "Huh?"
"Margarita," Paul gestured towards the far corner of the room, where Margarita was currently watching the three of them, a small smile on her face. "She asked me to come retrieve you."
"Okay."
Sebastian took off in Margarita's direction without another word to Paul or Reyna, which upset Reyna slightly. She watched as he approached Margarita, and a frown fell upon her face as she took notice of the way his entire face lit up when he looked at her; his smile was wider than she thought she had ever seen it before and his blue eyes glistened with so much happiness. She wasn't sure why the sight of it upset her so much, but it did. Seeing him happy should have made her happy—seeing him happy always made her happy—but at the moment it did anything but, and she couldn't begin to comprehend why that was.
"Staring is rude," Anthony said to Reyna, startling her slightly.
Reyna tore her attention away from Margarita and Sebastian to look at Anthony. "Why are you the way that you are, Anthony?"
"I could ask you the same damn thing, Little Miss I-Swear-I-Don't-Have-Feelings-For-The-Guy-I've-Known-My-Entire-Life," Anthony remarked as he pulled her out of ear shot of the rest of the cast. "The way you were just looking at the two of them completely gave you away, Reyna. I know you better than anyone aside from Sebastian, and I know that this entire thing is becoming less about Margarita and more about your feelings."
"Anthony, please don't start this tonight," Reyna started, shaking her head as if to rid his words from her mind.
"Too bad—I'm gonna," Anthony continued. "I'm getting sick of this shit, Reyna. Both of you just need to stop acting like children and tell each other how you feel. Everyone around you two idiots can see just how fucking in love you are with each other, but you two are too terrified to risk fifteen years of friendship for the possibility of something better."
Reyna bit her bottom lip and ran a hand through her hair. She wanted to deny Anthony's words more than anything but she couldn't; Anthony was absolutely right and there was nothing she could do to change that. "I just can't, Anthony—I can't. And even if I could, it's not like it would make much of a difference anyway. He has Margarita, and Margarita makes him happy; anyone can see that. Why would I ruin his happiness for the sake of my own?"
"You are so oblivious, Reyna Foster." Anthony sighed and shook his head, "You are so damn oblivious."
"What are you talking about?"
"Nothing. We'll talk more after the screening, okay?"
Reyna could only nod in response to his words, and before long the two of them were being ushered on stage with the rest of their castmates.
