Chapter 15

"My lady, please speak your command."

Leila turned to look at Alex and just shook her head. Her back started to ache but she held the pain in. She knelt down beside Lucas.

"I knew this would happen," Aaron scoffed as he walked into the scene.

"Sir Aaron, when did you arrive?"

Aaron picked up a piece of shattered glass and shrugged, "When you kicked him in the stomach." He observed Lucas who was lying on the floor and then at Leila, "Should I kill him?"

"I don't think that's what my lady wants," Alex pointed out.

Aaron knew but the fact that Lucas had found out about Leila made him anxious. It was not because he didn't trust Lucas but because it made him feel uneasy. It was not what he predicted. It was too early and things would get messy if not handled properly.

Leila ran through Lucas's hair with her hands and placed his head on her lap. "Alex, please send him back," she commanded.

Alex pulled his arm and carried his body on his shoulder. He bowed his head and placed his hand on his chest to show his respect to Leila before disappearing into thin air.

She stood up after he left and all the shattered pieces gathered and returned back into its original place.

Aaron just watched as the magic happened like it was something normal to him and remained silent.

She snapped her fingers one last time.

"It's over now."

Lucas woke up in cold sweat after hearing Leila's voice. He looked around and realized that he was back in his room but he was sure he heard her voice.

Over?

"Sir, you are awake. How are you feeling?"

Alex entered his room with a food tray. Lucas sat up straight and felt a sharp pain in his stomach. He also noticed the bandages on his side table. He realised that Alex had been treating his wounds for the past few hours while he had passed out.

Lucas recalled what happened and laid flat on the bed while placing his hand on his forehead. Leila's voice echoed in his head.

Alex walked towards him which caused Lucas to back away a bit and covered his stomach on instinct. Alex smiled as he placed the tray on the side table.

"I'm sorry, sir. But I won't do anything unless I have been ordered so don't worry."

Lucas sighed in relief but was confused by Alex's statement.

"Ordered?"

He received a nod as a response. Being curious he asked, "May I know what the relationship between the two of you is?"

Rather than knowing just their relationship, he was more interested in who Alex actually is. He had never heard or met him before which made him more mysterious than Leila.

"I'm merely a sword that shields and attack for Lady Leila."

"Like a bodyguard?"

"Well you can say that."

Lucas made an 'o' with his mouth.

"My lady did not wish to hurt you."

"Then, why did she push me away?"

"My lady never sees her wishes as first priority. Even though I do not have a say, I really hope that she would learn to love herself more."

Lucas was puzzled. He noticed Alex glancing over at him and beckoned him to continue as he wished to learn more.

"Throughout the years I have served her, I had never seen her so happy with someone before."

Lucas listened to Alex closely.

"Sometimes, everything is not as it seems," Alex shifted his eyes on the watch wrapped around Lucas's wrist, "I'm pretty sure when the time is right, my lady will explain it to you."

Just as Lucas was about to ask about how she became a sinner, Jacob cut in by shouting his name. He looked in the direction of the voice where Jacob and Ryan entered the room.

"Who were you talking to?"

Lucas turned back to Alex's direction but he was nowhere to be found. He had disappeared already.

"Just someone and what are you guys doing here?"

"Well, you just left without saying anything so we had been searching for you," Ryan answered while Jacob dumped his report papers on his bed and groaned.

"And I was supposed to take over your duty but you didn't pass me any reports! I had to improvise everything."

Lucas did not hear what they were saying. His mind shifted off to thinking about Leila. They stopped talking as they noticed that Lucas was not responding. They became silent and noticed the bruises on his face.

"Were you beaten up or something?" Jacob was worried of his condition.

Lucas just rolled his eyes and shrugged his shoulders.

Lucas sighed and looked at his clenched fists. Something seemed to be inside his hand. He squeezed it even tighter and felt that something was definitely inside. He slowly unfolded his hand and his feather was revealed. The things that Leila told him slowly replayed in his head.

He knew she was hiding something and now she was pushing him away. Too much thinking caused him headache and his heart pumped faster than ever. He was overwhelmed with emotions and he couldn't hold his tears back anymore.

He covered his eyes with his other hand that was empty and let the tears roll down his face. Jacob and Ryan became alert after they heard him sniffing. They knew something was wrong. Everything was strange ever since he met Leila but they just let him be since he was happy.

"Lucas, what happen?"

Jacob became serious when he did not hear any response. He knew something was definitely wrong.

"Who hurt you? Was it Aaron?" Ryan asked with a tint of anger in his voice.

"It's not him. I just- I just want to see her."

He looked at his feather, "She pushed me away."

"Why would she do that?" Ryan asked.

Lucas swallowed his saliva thickly and licked his dried lips, "She's a sinner."

"So, she had murdered a person before?" they asked and he nodded in response.

"And what do you plan to do?" Jacob further questioned him.

"I want a clear explanation. If she hates me then I'm willing to let her go but if she's pushing me away just because she's a sinner then..." he sighed heavily.

"Then, what are you doing here?" Ryan questioned.

Lucas looked at his feather which was crumbled and the end of the tip was black. He knew it won't work but he still placed it on the watch. There were no light or moving hands of the watch. The watch was still and the white feather turned grey.

"She cut off the connection."

Ryan and Jacob looked at him confused.

"I don't know what you are saying but..," Jacob paused as he struggled to pull LucS up to stand.

"You know who to ask when it comes to teleporting." He held the arm of his wrist which had the watch on and like before shimmering blue lights appeared circling Lucas.

"You would get into deep trouble for this."

Once was enough. He wasn't willing to get any of his friends into trouble because of his mess.

Jacob shrugged his shoulders and smirked, "But I do not enjoy seeing you like this. I want to see a happy-go-lucky Lucas."

Ryan folded his arms and shook his head. "Don't worry. I'll help him write report," he told him as he passed a ring to Lucas.

"Wear that so that you won't be tracked." Ryan gestured him to put it on.

"Well, our dear Lucas is finally rebelling against the rules and meeting a sinner!" Jacob teased him.

Lucas finally laughed and made an 'ok' sign which relieved the two of them.

Just like that Lucas was transported to where Leila was.

He arrived inside a dark room filled with candle lights neatly arranged on the side. It was not the same place that he ended up the previous time. This place felt even more mysterious and he had never seen such a place before.

He heard someone whimpering in pain. He ran in the direction of the sound and felt that something was wrong.

Lucas continued running towards the direction where he heard a voice. He opened different doors but all those rooms were empty. He had been running around the same place several times but he had yet to find her.

He continued searching and eventually ran past a painting which caught his eyes. He walked back slowly and observed the painting. It was a painting of a back of a lady with beautiful white wings spread under the moonlight. It was a painting of an Angel and it looked too realistic to be just an imagination. The painting gave off a vibe that the painter had seen her in real life.

He touched the painting and the wall actually creaked open creating a pathway. It was the same as the watch shop.

He entered the alley and the wall shut back by itself. He continued walking straight and there were more paintings of the Angel in different places that he had never seen before but all of it were at night and just showed her back. Lucas stopped when he recognized one of the places, Rose Guardian. However, it was still incomplete.

He finally arrived at a door that had white wings drawn on it. He went inside and the room seemed similar to his but with different decorations. The chandelier gave off a dim yellow light which filled the room. He observed the room and his eyes landed on a silhouette seated on the bed.

Due to the dim lights, he couldn't see clearly so he walked toward it. He realized it belonged to a lady with long beautiful hair and he knew who she was immediately. She was only covered in blanket and her back was showing.

She kept her hair in front and reached out for something. As the hair was moved, he noticed two scars on her back which seemed to have been cut deeply.

She whined as her bottle dropped which rolled towards him. He picked it up and headed towards her.

"Leila..."
