Chapter 10
Lucas sat in his room in silence. He had been thinking a lot about what Aaron had said. He wanted to ask her directly but he could not even meet her. He did not trust Aaron but there was a small percentage of him that believed in his words and that percentage was starting to grow as he thought more about it.
He kept rocking back and forth in his chair without giving a care to his two friends who had been staring at him for the past three hours. Jacob and Ryan were at his place to hang out but he was giving off a very moody vibe.
"Dude, can you lighten up a bit? Even my rainy days are not this moody."
He glared at Jacob and sulked in the corner. Everything was as usual, the days were bright and the nights were beautiful. The only difference was that he had not seen Leila ever since he got his watch repaired.
He started to ponder many things. Maybe it was because his watch was not fully repaired. Or maybe it was because he shouted his confession and Leila would made hate him now. Or was she really just toying with him? He couldn't figure out anything and it was irritating him but all he wanted was to meet her.
Since when did I become this greedy?
"I don't think she is avoiding you or anything." Ryan was obviously trying to make him feel better. But, all these questions in his head were making him feel anxious. "We would like to help if we can."
Lucas knew exactly what they meant. It had always been a mystery as to why Galaxians, except Aaron, were not allowed to visit Leila's office and she was rarely seen outside. If only he could just sneak in by teleporting without getting caught.
"That's it!" He shot up. Jacob and Ryan were shocked by his sudden actions but just watched him. He was super excited and stood in the middle of the room.
His excitement level decreased drastically as time passed by. He groaned and dropped himself onto the sofa, "Why is it not working?!"
"What are you talking about?"
He looked at them and hesitated. He thought of whether he should tell them or not. The two gave him a look, expecting an answer .
"I'm trying to teleport to Leila's place."
The two of them nodded until they realized what he actually said. "Are you nuts?! You know everyone is forbidden to go there," Jacob reminded.
"But it's been weeks since I last met her and I have questions I need to ask her."
Both of them felt sorry for him but they did not wish to see him getting into trouble. By helping him, they could also get into trouble. In worst case scenario, they would end up losing their licenses.
Lucas knew about all those but couldn't care less. He only wanted to see Leila. He knew he was being too obsessed and weird. But love at first sight exists and in his case, he was madly in love.
"I love her."
••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••
Lucas said it, loud enough for them to hear. That was the first time they heard about Lucas falling in love. When it comes to love, Lucas was way out of the question. And for the first time, he actually loved a person and they did not wish to let it end this way.
"Is there no other way?"
They thought hard about it but no answers were produced.
During all the mist, Jacob was being unusually quiet. Usually, he would be the loud one giving ideas and making decisions but he was being too serious.
Jacob scratched his head and looked at his friend.
"Promise you won't get me into trouble."
Lucas knew that Jacob had a plan. His expression finally brightened and thanked Jacob.
"Give me your hand with the watch on."
He sighed and grabbed hold of Lucas's wrist. Blue lights popped up from the ground which circled Lucas. The lights shot up till the ceiling and Jacob let go of him when he felt that everything was ready.
"Be careful," the two warned him.

In a split second, Lucas was teleported to an empty dark room which looked like an old office. The first thing he noticed was the monitor which was similar as the one in his office and several buttons which had spider webs on it.
"Did I end up at wrong place?"
A cockroach ran across his feet making him jump backwards and hit something which dropped and broke into pieces. He looked down and saw shattered glass on the floor.
"Just when I was not supposed to get into trouble," he bit his lips and bent down to gather the shattered glasses. As he was picking those up, something caught his attention. He moved forward and picked it up.
It was a white feather which looked so beautiful as if it belonged to an angel.
He heard footsteps coming towards him and the lights went on. He quickly stuffed the feather into his pocket and stood up. He straightened his clothes and turned around. His eyes widened and his heart skipped a beat.
Leila was in her white uniform all buttoned up till the top and a mini skirt that fell just right above the knee. She looked even more beautiful in her uniform.
"Lucas, what are you doing here?"
••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••
Leila was still shocked to see him in her office. She was more curious as to how he managed to enter this room. If she remembered clearly, no one could enter besides Aaron.
He rubbed his neck and coughed a nervous, unsure laughter. She could tell that he was trying to avoid the question. She flicked his forehead and crossed her arms.
"You know you could get into a deep trouble. You should leave."
"But it's only been 3 minutes since I saw you," He pouted and bent in towards her face.
She was obviously glad to see him but did not want him to get into trouble.
"It's better for you to leave though."
He shook his head and grabbed a seat to sit, "I would like to accompany you during your duty."
Leila just rolled her eyes and shifted to the monitor.
"It's really not appropriate for you to be here."
Lucas raised his hands to stop her from continuing and grinned, "Don't worry. I won't do anything."
"That's not what I meant."
Leila had reasons to make him go away. She did not want him to watch her perform her duty. No one was supposed to.
Lucas obviously noticed that she kept looking at him and had not started her duty yet. He felt that he should do something to assure her that it would be ok. He got up and kissed the forehead of flustered Leila.
"Just imagine I'm not here. I just wanted to be with you and of course watch how you create art."
He had no idea why he did that but it was pretty smooth. He gave himself a thumb up for not being awkward.
Leila thought about it for a while as she touched her forehead. She observed the controls and sighed. It's not like she had a choice. She reached out for Lucas's watch and touched it so that it started ticking.
"Fine but do not judge me."
He nodded and straightened up in his seat as he diverted all his attention towards her.
She pushed the start button which turned the afternoon orange sky into night dark blue sky. She continued doing her thing but kept hesitating after each step. Lucas noticed that the sky was not as magically beautiful as usual and that she was struggling with the controls. He wondered if something was wrong.
She looked at the sky and bit her lips, putting all her concentration on the controls so that she could recall how things were done before.
Soon, she got hold of what she had to do. Everything was progressing perfectly until she received a notice that the temperature had to be lowered. Lucas worriedly watched over Leila who was searching for the control button.
She had been clicking several buttons but none of those were working. She scratched her nose and glanced behind to check on Lucas who just smiled widely at her. She smiled back and turned around, making sure he did not see her actions. After proper confirmation, she quickly circled her forefinger on top of the control system, making the temperature cooler magically.
Lucas noticed the change in temperature but did not know how it was done. He got up curiously to check how Leila was doing. She turned around and gasped when he was beside her. She fell backwards but luckily, Lucas reached out fast enough to grab her waist to stop her from falling. But, she ended up pressing something and warning signs popped up filling the screen.
Lucas smelled something burning and knew something was going to happen so he quickly pulled her and crouched down. He stretched out his jacket and spread it over so that it covered both of them. The control system exploded and pieces shattered into the air, some of it scratched Lucas's hand, making it bleed.
After making sure everything was fine, he released her and sighed in relief.
Leila looked at the control system over his shoulder with her mouth was wide open. She watched the system fell apart horridly. She walked towards it and groaned.
"I'm going to be in deep trouble," she mumbled to herself. She let out a sigh and touched the system.
The shattered pieces gathered to its original place by itself. Lucas watched it with amazement, trying to grasp hold of the situation. He then looked at Leila with his eyes still wide opened. Soon, the system was good as new.
Leila turned to face him and placed a finger on her lips to which Lucas responded with a nod. She held her forefinger up in the air and swiped it across. Light beams flashed across the office as Lucas watched the magic happen in awe.
He looked at the monitor screen and saw the night sky magically forming into beautiful art with stars that shone like diamond and round moon that shone brightly in the middle of the sky. It finally formed into the night sky that he had always loved to watch. Magical and Beautiful. His eyes were fixed on Leila who looked like an angel dancing under the moonlight.
After Leila was done, she smiled at him and held out her hand to help him get up. As he stretched out his hand, she noticed blood oozing out of it. She quickly got up and took her first-aid kit as well as took a chair for him to sit.
"I'm fine, don't worry."
He tried to assure her but she was firm with her action.
"It was my fault."
She grabbed a chair as well and sat face to face with Lucas.
Lucas took his jacket off and pulled his sleeves up as well so that it was easier for her to tend his injury. As he pulled his sleeves, the deep cut was shown with the shattered piece still stuck in his skin. Leila gasped at the sight and touched it worriedly.
She opened her aid kit and took out some tweezers to pluck out the piece. Lucas winced in pain as it stung him when it was being pulled out. While Leila was treating his pain, Lucas recalled the previous night, "So, did you hear it that night?"
Leila focused on making sure she did not cause any further pain and treated it carefully while providing full attention to him, "What night?"
"That night before you disappeared for two weeks?"
She shrugged her shoulders, pretending not to know.
"I wonder why there was a shooting star that night."
Her face reddened and accidentally pressed the injury too hard, which made him groan in pain. She immediately apologized when she realized what she had done. Her reaction was so adorable that Lucas could not help but chuckle.
She finished it off by wrapping a bandage around the injured area. "I'm really sorry," she said as she touched the bandaged area softly.
Lucas touched his bandaged hand and grinned, "It's fine. It's as good as before."
She bit her lips and observed his face, "Well, I wasn't supposed to let anyone see how I perform my duty. Sorry if I was looking strange." She closed the kit and avoided eye contact with him. She felt guilty that he got hurt.
Lucas smiled and reached out to tug her hair was falling on her face, "You look really beautiful."
She glanced at him and their eyes met. Their faces were extremely close as if they were about to touch. Lucas observed the beautiful features of Leila's face and his eyes somehow landed on her lips.
He swallowed his saliva out of nervousness and breathed in slowly. His throat was dry and there was a something tickling in his chest.
He leaned in closer causing Leila to blink but she did not move backwards. He felt that it was the perfect moment and not an opportunity to miss. He cupped her face with his left hand gently and slowly closed his eyes as he let his instincts take over. He got in closer towards her and could feel her breath.
Just as his lips were an inch apart from hers, a shadow appeared before them and a familiar voice boomed in the quiet office.
"What is going on?"
