Everyone else more or less reacted the same way to the medication which Walter was delivering. No one wanted to take it. Even if most of it was vitamins for when they're asleep. Considering the amount of time they would all be sleeping in their cushioned chambers, their bodies needed a little help to not totally vegetate. Of course, muscle mass was one thing which would slowly be regained. But immune systems and the like would need a little extra help and looking after. Not that it was possible really to get germs within their ship, considering how airtight it was, and had already been decontaminated before liftoff. But, their new home, no one knew what airborne things could be present.
It seemed though that no one was immune for one last hurrah, again. Just like back on Earth, to say farewell, they all gathered around the table, drinking, eating and laughing. Making the most of their last night together, because as soon as it was over with, when the next day came, they would all be donning the simple white uniform that got assigned to them, and they'd all climb into their appointed chambers. Then Walter would have the task of checking they were fine before sending them to sleep. Once that was done, he was alone, again, with Mother as company. It wasn't like he didn't have jobs to do, and it also wasn't like he had a proper grasp of boredom.
With the amount of alcohol which was consumed, it might be a little later than planned to put everyone into their hypersleep chambers. Needed to be sober, or else the system wouldn't register their vitals very well, or at all, or even accept them trying to go under at all.
The evening seemed to be going well until Upworth choked, someone suggested a photograph and Jacob decided to call it quits earlier than everyone else. Everyone seemed to stay, if only for a little bit longer before parting ways.
"Tomorrow," Onora looked to Karine as she leaned against the table beside her. She exhaled heavily and pouted, even rolling her head to the side and looking a little hazily at Onora. "It's come around so fast, hasn't it?"
Onora nodded slowly, "It doesn't even seem that long ago since all of us were put together." She said, sounding almost wistful, she reached out and took the glasses from Walter's hands as he seemed to be pottering. Onora put them back down and looked at Karine, she looked sympathetically at Walter before letting out a disgruntled noise. Walter looked confused before turning on his heels and opting to sit and people watch. Onora didn't like him acting like the damn cleaner. Everyone could clean up tomorrow before they went to sleep.
"And tomorrow...day one of sleep, day one of many..." Karine said a little dramatically, Onora looked at her worriedly, she swayed a little on her feet. Luckily, Oram stood near and steadied her, she leaned against him and patted a hand to his chest.
"Okay, party animal, I think you've had enough." He looked down at his wife's face, she did seem a little...away with the fairies, seeing how serious he was attempting to be just made Karine burst out laughing. "Definitely, time to call it a night." Oram decided he smiled at Onora and nodded her way, she waved a hand and watched as he held his wife close as they exited the bridge.
Looking up when Daniels slowly walked over, she picked at the cup in her hand before smiling softly. She looked past Onora and smiled at Walter too, seeing as how someone was paying him attention, he perked up and stood from his chair. He faded rather into the background otherwise, just silently there, always watching. "Think another breakfast might be in order tomorrow." Daniels joked, fry up was a right fix for the hungover it seemed.
"I do not think that is wise," Walter frowned from behind Onora, she looked over her shoulder at him before looking at Daniels again with a small, sad smile.
"Toast, then?" Onora offered with a slow shrug.
Daniels laughed quietly, "Yeah...not the same, but I'm sure it'll do." She nodded her head slowly, looking over her shoulder she looked back at the pair. "Night, you two." She put her cup down, she reached out and loosely hugged Onora to herself before patting Walter gently on the arm.
Onora turned and looked at Walter, he blinked slowly and glanced down at her before his blue eyes flicked up when she tensed before him. Only because an arm suddenly appeared around her shoulders. He went to step forwards, but stopped mainly because of the casual hand which was waved his way. "Step down," Ledward said while taking one last swig of the bottle in his hand. Onora reached up and peeled his arm off from over her shoulders. Noticing the movement, Ledward looked at her, "I don't like the thought of you spending your last night lonely."
Onora hunched her shoulders and painfully smiled, "Ah, well...I'm sure I'll be fine." She half-turned and stood in between the synthetic and the drunk security officer. Walter stood still, motionless and staring with hard blue eyes as his hands rested by his sides. Ledward, however, was wobbling a little with squinted eyes as he pointed a finger upwards.
"If you are unable to find the correct setting for him, you know where I am." Ledward said with a sardonic smile, finger still waving their way as he looked close to cracking up over his own little personal, painful joke at Walter's expense.
Onora frowned, glared even as she shoved past the drunk officer. Walter remained, he tilted his head, "That was inappropriate. You should get some water, sober up, find some clarity and in the morning, apologise. Not to me, because you won't. But to her, you should." Walter said lowly as he walked past Ledward, the man swayed some more before leaning against the table as Walter moved after Onora. It wasn't hard, she was a little down the corridor, seemingly she had slid down the wall and now sat hunched over on the floor. Walter knelt, placing a hand to her shoulder he looked apologetic as she jumped and pulled her head from her knees. "Nora-"
"I wanted to punch him."
Walter tilted his head, for someone who hadn't shown a violent streak in the slightest, this surprised him. "That wouldn't solve matters."
"It might've knocked sense into him." Onora stated with a pointed look.
"It would've also hurt your hand."
"But it would've knocked sense into him," she repeated with a laugh.
"He may have passed out."
"I don't hit that hard." Onora sighed with a shake of her head.
Walter tilted his head with a thoughtful look. "I was more thinking if he fell back, and hit his head against the table." Onora laughed at his words, she probably shouldn't have, but she did. Walter smiled, looking around he looked back at her curiously. Onora just leaned her chin against her crossed arms, she placed them on top of her knees and just watched him. Walter frowned in thought before standing, Onora raised her eyebrows when he simply leaned down and held his hands out to her. She unwrapped her arms from around herself and lifted them up, Walter hooked his arms around her and easily stood up straight, pulling her up too. He even went one better and just decided to carry her in his arms down the corridor. Onora just sighed and leaned her head against his shoulder, she didn't mind being carried, she was actually quite comfortable being carried back to her room.
"Walter, did what Ledward say annoy you as much as it did me?" Onora peered up at him as he stopped walking, the door to her room quietly shut behind him as the low lights flickered on, sensing a presence in the room.
"Insults are not below me, I understand them. But my feelings towards them are indifferent. There will always be someone who finds it easier to pick on me, because of their own problems. Simply put: Ledward is jealous, because he likes you, or did like you and you choose to spend time with me, above all others." Walter said while walking over to the bed and looking down at her.
"Walter, the truth." Onora said with a small frown on her face, she reached up and turned his face back to look at her. He was glancing towards the window, looking lost at watching the stars. "I can take it."
"I didn't appreciate how his comment clearly made you feel." Walter said honestly.
"It annoyed you?" Onora asked, Walter tilted his head in thought as if that was the feeling he had felt at the time. Slowly he nodded his head, agreeing with her. "It annoyed me too." Walter turned and sat down on the bed with her still cradled against his chest. She took to playing with the drawstring of his hooded jumper, twirling the cord around her fingers and nestling a little more against his shoulder with a sigh. "But...mainly the fact that Ledward believes you're needing a setting to feel something. When I know that isn't true, even if you don't fully register it, Walter. You're not ruled by settings, modes, functions or whatever. You're your own person."
Walter found himself softly smiling. Onora stopped playing with the cord of his top and looked upwards. The hand against her shoulder rubbed gently, while his other hand had come to rest over her knee. "As my own person then, can I say that I will miss you?"
"I'll miss you too, Walter."
He nodded and looked around the room, it seemed odd that this would be the last time, for a long while, that he would be in here. Blinking slowly, he looked down and in return Onora just looked at him with wide eyes, Walter sighed and leaned down slightly. She cupped his face and nudged her face gently against his with a content sigh of her own.
Walter would be lying if what Ledward had said, wasn't still bothering him just a little. He wasn't as clueless as some believed him to be. Of course those who were together were going to enjoy the last time they could be intimately together before hypersleep tomorrow. Walter honestly wouldn't be too surprised if those who weren't with someone, had a fling just for tonight, he didn't mean to tar people like that, but it was common knowledge that one night stands happened for all manner of reasons.
He tilted his head in thought, he could feel Onora's heart beating against his arm as he leaned further against her and pressed his lips to hers. If anything her heart rate picked up. He felt her fingers trace along his jaw as she fidgeted in his lap to get closer to him.
"Walter," Onora frowned, he pulled away when she did. He looked over her troubled face, thinking he had done something wrong he was going to pick her out of his lap, until she stopped him. "Walter...do not do something that you are not certain on. And, moreover, do not do something because of someone's stupid comment." Onora said calmly to him, stroking his cheek as she looked at him with an equally calm expression.
"I would like to make your last night a good one."
Onora smiled, it was an awfully cheesy line, but it was also rather endearing considering Walter genuinely meant it. Rarely ever did he say anything he didn't mean. "Walter-"
"I'm not acting on a prompt, or a setting change." He said, cutting her off with a small frown as he looked down at her. Onora tilted her head, eyes widening a little as he spoke. "This is me," he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers. He kept his eyes open, if only long enough to see hers slide to a shut. He felt her hand slip up and away from his cheek, to his hair. Gently tangling her fingers into his shortly cropped brunette hair.
Walter easily hoisted her more against himself as he scooted backwards on the bed and turned slowly. He felt Onora's hands suddenly hold onto him as he set her against the pillows. Opening his eyes and pulling away, Walter looked over her red cheeks, considering their chests were pressed together, he could feel how quickly she was breathing to catch her breath back.
Onora lifted her head from the pillows, if only to kiss him again. Her hand disappeared within his hair again as Walter slowly moved. If only to find himself hovering above her. He may never have been this close to someone, or in this situation, but the information was somehow buried within his networking. Though perhaps laying in the right position, Walter was more than aware that, well, clothes were still present.
That was a slightly awkward fumbling affair which rendered them eventually being entwined together, laying side by side, Walter watched as Onora simply laid stroking his cheek, trailing it down to rest against his neck, she stroked at the hair in the nape of his neck. Her head tilted as she felt his fingers gently tracing against her hip, it was strange to her really that something that wasn't human, could feel so human. Stroking a hand over his chest, she could feel his heart, she could feel the muscle, well, the structure under his skin which constituted to muscle mass at least.
It wasn't like the admiration was one sided, Walter too was looking over the body which was stretched out beside him. He watched as Onora moved forwards, she pressed her lips against his. Walter felt her hand cup the back of his neck, being pulled forwards and against her, he moved back over her and though he wasn't relying on information which was deeply implanted in his head; Walter relied on a few snippets just now to be sure he was correct in actions, he listened to the sudden gasp which came from Onora as he felt her arching against him, her arms wrapping around him as her legs did the same. Walter's face was gently pulled close and Onora took to kissing him between quiet moans as she felt his body moving slowly against hers. Resting her forehead against his, she looked up into his eyes as he looked down at her. Onora smiled slowly, watching as Walter's eyes lightened up as he nudged his face against hers gently before leaning against her neck and shutting his eyes.
He felt her matching his pace, conscious of the strength difference between the two, the way her hands gripped onto his back and the sudden arching and ceasing of movement altogether. Walter leaned against his forearms, looking and watching as Onora came back to reality, she reached up, stroking his hair back in place with a quiet laugh, he opened his mouth, only to have one of her fingers press against his lips softly. She shook her head slowly, Walter tilted his head before feeling himself being gently pushed away. Onora kept him close though, seemingly wanting to lay close to his side, using his chest as a pillow instead of the actual bedding which had been supplied to the room.
Walter wrapped his arm around her, the other coming up to seek out her hand. Feeling her tracing patterns against his chest, Walter put an end to that by holding onto her hand carefully. He felt her nestle a little closer, if that was even possible before sighing contently and then nothing. Walter could feel her heart rate slow back down, her breathing evened out and the silence wasn't all bad, it wasn't bad at all, more comfortable than anything as he laid with her in his arms.

(A/N: The bloke has the ability, so let him go hah. Okay, honestly, I wasn't going to write poor Walter getting some action. But I oddly asked my friend if that would be something she'd read, clearly you can possibly guess an answer, or else this chapter would be something else completely xD One last hurrah........before David effectively ruins everyone's lives.....just saying......)
