"What? You think he loves you? Ha!" He could hear her voice, it surrounded him, dank into him like acid. Suddenly, he could feel the sting across his face, the pain in his gut, knowing another beating was coming.
"You're fat, James. You think someone like him could ever even want to be friends with a mess like you?! You're pathetic!" He clutched his stomach, feeling tears stream down his face as he attempted to curl in on himself, protect himself from the storm of blows coming at him.
"JIM!" He shot up, nearly hitting Sebastian in the face, "Christ—another nightmare?" He had to look utterly pathetic, launching himself into the sniper's arms like a child. Erica was probably right...
"Jim...you ate today, right?" His fingers began stroking the smaller man's hair, getting a nod in response, "Good."
It wasn't a lie, he had eaten. He hadn't kept it inside him for very long, but he had technically eaten.

[Sebnie]

"How do you do that..?" His voice was small, fingers flittering around his page as he created the tones he needed. He couldn't wrap his head around it—it was like they were never mad at each other, neither ever got upset.
"Do what?" Minnie watched him, sitting on the edge of his hospital bed, looking over him worriedly. This relationship was going to be the end of him, if he didn't break it off soon.
"He was upset with you...but he didn't yell, not really...and you talked to him..." He'd never actually seen that happen before. When his parents 'fought' his dad would scream and shout and hit and kick, his mother would just sit back and take it. All of it. She agreed with whatever he said until he finally calmed down, or perhaps he just tired, but either way the violence stopped...Minnie had said what she felt. Gone straight up against what he said and he'd...Sebastian had calmed down and they talked. It didn't make any sense.
"Because that's what love is supposed to be like, Jim..."
