Chapter 2
It was late afternoon when John arrived at 221B. He walked slowly up the stairs dragging his feet, he couldn't wait to just collapse in his chair with a cup of tea. He reached the top of the stairs when he heard voices coming from the other side of the door. 'Great clients' he thought as he plastered a grin on his face and opened it slowly.
nothing could prepare him for the sight that greeted him, Sherlock Holmes, the most arrogant man he ever met was seated on the sofa with his arm around a woman's shoulders as she snuggled into his side. Questions popped into his head as he watched his sociopathic friend display acts of human emotion, something that he never thought Sherlock was capable of.
"Hello John" Sherlock greeted as he walked into the room.
John stood there staring dumbfounded at the two, he snapped back to reality and grunted a "hello" before he asked the question that was burning up inside of him the minute he walked through the door "so Sherlock care to introduce your friend?".
Sherlock grinned and was about to reply when Sherinford entered the room from the bathroom and sat in Sherlock's chair looking at John as though he was a very interesting TV show. John looked at the child then to the two people on the sofa before lowering himself into his chair awaiting an answer to his question.
"John I would like to introduce you to my wife (Y/N) Holmes and my son Sherinford, (Y/N), Sherinford, this is my friend John Watson".
you rose from your chair and offered your hand to John. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Sherlly has told me so much about you."
John took your hand and shook it before breaking into a grin "this is a joke right?, How did he get you to play along with this?"
you shot John a confused look whilst Sherinford continued to stare at John his facial expression unchanged, "it's not a joke John. Sherlock is telling the truth." A moment of silence passed before you raised your eyebrows and grinned "oh I see now you want us to prove it".
"Ok then I have a proposition for you." Sherlock stood up suddenly and placed a hand around your waist, "if Sherinford can deduce who you are then you have to believe me dies those terms sound acceptable to you?"
John thought these terms through for a moment thinking that any child of Sherlock's would be able to deduce him easily, but a niggle in the back of his mind kept asking 'how much did he know already?' after thinking for a good 5 minutes he sighed "ok sounds fair enough".
You smiled and turned to Sherinford "sweetie, you know when I told you not to tell people there life stories as soon as you meet them as it is considered rude?" He nodded still focusing on John, "I will excuse it this time".
A wide grin appeared across his face as he opened his mouth to speak "Your name is John Watson, an ex army doctor, discharged from service in either Afghanistan or Iraq, I cant be certain which one just yet but they are the only two logical locations since that's where most conflict is happening at the moment, you are currently working at a doctors surgery about an hours ride on the tube of course I noticed through the state of your shoes, you have a light dusting of dirt on them which wouldn't be there if you had drove, also you have a faint smell of other travellers that have been around you, you only gain such scents if you are in close proximity to others. Also you obviously have a date tonight, you changed your clothes at work and combed your hair suggesting that you are comfortable with her and she will be here to pick you up soon, but you haven't put much effort into your appearance which suggests that you have been with this woman for a while, I would say about two to three months. Did I get anything wrong?"
John was gobsmacked, he turned to Sherlock who had a proud look upon his face and then answered Johns unasked question "I told him nothing".
"So John did I get anything wrong?" Sherinford asked, curiosity laced his voice as he awaited his answer.
John thought for a moment then answered "Yes, only one thing, its an hour and a half on the tube".
Sherinford hung his head staring at his lap "there's always at least one thing" he muttered before shrugging it off.
