The car sped down the road, tires grinding against the gravel as the night swallowed them whole.
Haven sat stiffly in the passenger seat, wrists bound in front of her, the fabric of her torn dress soaked in her own blood. Every bump sent a fresh wave of pain from the wound on her neck, her pulse weak but steady. The metallic scent of blood filled the small space, thick and suffocating.
Aerius's grip on the steering wheel was too tight, his knuckles white. His lips curled into a smirk, amusement dancing in his eyes.
"You know, your brothers are fools" he mused, his tone light as if discussing the weather.
"I fooled them once before, and I did it again. Eight years ago, they thought you were dead. And now? They handed you right back to me."
Haven's breath caught in her throat, her already weakening body going rigid.
Aerius chuckled, dark and twisted. "For you, I did so many things. Just to be with you. I killed my own parents." Haven's heart stopped.
Her vision swayed for a second, not just from his words, but from the blood loss making her dizzy. "W-What?" she croaked out.
Aerius sneered. "My father" his jaw tightened.
"That pathetic man wanted to let you go back to them. He thought you belonged with those bastards. He thought family was about love and choices. But we don't get choices, do we, my little snow?
His fingers tapped against the wheel, almost lazy, but his grip never eased.
"That old hag" he continued, voice laced with mockery. "I begged him. Begged him not to do it. But he insulted me instead... comparing me with those fuckers. So I ended his good for nothing life." He smirked seemingly proud of it.
Haven's stomach twisted, "y-y-you" her lips barely formed the words, "you planned that accident"
Aerius smirked, glancing at her out of the corner of his eye.
V-Vincent never killed them" she whispered, her body cold despite the blood trickling down her chest.
His head tilted slightly, watching her unravel like a cruel spectator. "You finally understand" he murmured. "But now, now, don't go on a guilt trip for considering him a killer, because he actually killed."
He paused, letting the words sink in, savoring the moment.
"Not mine, of course, but your real parents."
Something inside Haven snapped.
Her fingers curled into fists, her body trembling with something that wasn't fear anymore.
Aerius leaned in slightly, a twisted gleam in his eyes. "Y-You knew ev-everything? he mused.
"Y-you knew I was not your blood. Y-you knew I was never a castillion. You knew I had a family and y-you" she clenched her jaw in pain "that's why y-you did all those things to me"
Haven swallowed, her throat dry.
His smirk widened, fingers flexing over the wheel. "And now that you know, we don't have to pretend anymore.I know you always liked my touch" His voice dropped to something soft, almost affectionate. "We can get married."
A cold, burning rage flooded Haven's veins.
Her body acted before her mind did.
"I WILL KILL YOU. FUCKING MONSTER"
With every ounce of strength left in her, she grabbed the steering wheel and yanked.
The car swerved violently.
Tires screeched against the asphalt.
"Fuckkkk Snoww" Aerius shouted, his grip fumbling.
And then
CRASH.
The impact slammed her forward, the seatbelt cutting into her already fragile body.
Glass shattered.
Smoke filled the air.
Haven gasped, dazed, her body throbbing in agony. Her vision blurred as she reached for the door handle, her breath shallow.
It wouldn't open.
Panic surged.
She pushed harder.
Then fingers.
Tight. Unyielding.
Aerius grabbed her sleeve.
She twisted, wrenching herself free, the fabric tearing as she stumbled out.
Barefoot. Bleeding. She ran.
The cold night bit into her skin as she sprinted into the dark forest. The pain in her neck throbbed, warm blood still seeping down, but she didn't stop.
She couldn't stop.
Heavy footsteps.
She pushed harder, lungs screaming. Then
A hand yanked her back by her hair.
"Ahh" She screamed.
Aerius' palm cracked across her face.
"you fucking whore" Pain exploded through her skull as she hit the ground, dazed, the world spinning. The taste of blood filled her mouth, her cheek burning.
Aerius loomed over her, eyes blazing with something feral.
"Why do you always make me do this, Snow?he muttered. "I love you."
His hand reached for her again but a voice interrupted his actions
"HAVEN!" She stiffened.
Another voice. "HAVEN!"
The brothers.
Aerius's body went rigid. His grip loosened for half a second. Haven's mind raced.
Now or never.
With everything she had, she drove her knee straight into his crotch.
Aerius grunted, stumbling back. " fuckk You b-bitch"
She ran.
Her feet burned. Her lungs ached but then She saw him. Tall. Dark. Unmoving.
Lucifer.
Her vision blurred further, the adrenaline wearing off, the blood loss catching up to her.
"L-Lu-Luce"her voice cracked.
"Luceee" Lucifer turned.
The moment he saw her, her torn dress, her bleeding feet, her trembling, broken body"
His world stopped.
Haven barely made it two more steps before she collapsed into his arms.
His grip was ironclad, crushing her against him, as if anchoring her to this world.
She clutched his shirt weakly, fingers curling into the fabric.
Lucifer inhaled deeply, his voice low, raw.
"Vi-Vida shh, you're safe." He murmured the words against her hair, the tremor in his voice betraying what he never showed the world.
He pulled back slightly, his gaze scanning her, his thumb brushing over the blood on her cheek.
A muscle in his jaw ticked. His eyes, dark and merciless, lifted past her
Straight to Aerius who was now caught by the brothers.
Gabriel's fists clenched. Izrael was already reaching for a knife. Michael and Rafael were silent, but their gazes burned with pure murder.
"I am taking Haven with me. You do whatever you want with him but make sure he doesn't die." Lucifer spoke as he held her in his arms.
"We can deal with this bastard later. We are coming with you" Rafael said as the brothers followed him
———
Lucifer tightened his hold around Haven as the car sped through the darkened streets, the engine growling as Izrael pushed it past every limit. The usual controlled, ruthless precision in his driving was gone—replaced by sheer desperation.
Rafael sat in the front seat, silent, but his fingers tapped restlessly against his knee. His eyes flicked to the rearview mirror every few seconds, tracking the fragile form in Lucifer's arms.
Gabriel and Michael sat beside Lucifer in the back, their bodies rigid, their breaths uneven. But it was Lucifer—the unshakable Sinister King—who was unraveling.
Haven lay against him, limp, her blood soaking through his shirt, her skin growing colder by the second.
"Drive faster," Lucifer's voice was hoarse, stripped of its usual command. It wasn't an order—it was a plea.
His heart pounded against his ribs, his breath shallow and uneven. Blood, her blood, seeped through his fingers, staining the crisp white handkerchief he pressed against her neck. It wasn't stopping.
Izrael didn't respond anything but the tires screeched as the car pushed beyond its limits, but to Lucifer, it still wasn't fast enough. Nothing was fast enough. He looked down at Haven, his little sister, so fragile, so pale. Her breaths were uneven, her eyelids fluttering as she slipped between consciousness and the abyss.
Lucifer pressed his handkerchief harder against her wound. His jaw clenched as the fabric grew darker, useless against the relentless bleeding.
No. No, no, no.
"Stay with me" he murmured, his lips near her temple. His hand trembled slightly as he brushed a strand of blood-matted hair from her face.
A tear slipped down his cheek before he even realized it. Lucifer never cried. But here, holding her, feeling the warmth of her blood against his skin, he felt powerless for the first time in his life.
A small, weak hand lifted and brushed against his jaw. His breath hitched.
"W-why....y-you c-crying?" Haven's voice was faint, barely a whisper, but it shattered something deep inside him.
Lucifer shook his head fiercely, swallowing the lump in his throat. "Don't talk, please" he whispered. "Just stay with me, piccola."
Gabriel tensed beside him. Michael turned his face away.
Haven's lips curled into the faintest smile. Not of comfort, not of relief, acceptance.
"A- am I d-dying? she asked, her voice airy, almost at peace.
His entire body went rigid.
Terrified.
Lucifer Alssandro Romanov. The Head of The Sinisters, the man whose name enough sent fear through entire nations, was terrified.
He had seen death a thousand times. Had delivered it a thousand more. But this? Seeing that serene acceptance on her face? Seeing her stare at the end like it was the only solace she had left?
He couldn't breathe.
His hand cupped the back of her head, pressing her closer to his chest as if he could shield her from death itself.
"N-No,he whispered harshly, his voice shaking. "No, I won't let anything happen to you, Angie. You hear me? You stay with me."
His fingers trembled against her wound, pressing harder, willing the bleeding to stop. His jaw clenched, his mind spiraling.
This was the second time he had held her in his arms. The first was when she was just a day old, bundled in soft blankets, tiny, warm, untouched by the cruelty of the world. His little baby sister.
And he had left her.
Regret clawed at his soul, suffocating him. He had thought he was doing the right thing back then, placing her in safer hands, giving her a chance at a life away from their darkness. But he was wrong. He should have never let her go.
He pressed his lips to her forehead, squeezing his eyes shut.
"I should have taken you with me" he whispered, his voice breaking. "I should have never left you, sorellina."
Lucifer pressed his forehead against hers, his breath unsteady. "Please" he whispered. "Just hold on."
Michael exhaled harshly beside him. Gabriel clenched his fists so tightly his nails dug into his palms.
Rafael's fingers stilled on his knee. "Izrael, how far?" His voice was tight, controlled, but there was something raw underneath.
"Izrael's grip on the wheel was white-knuckled. "Five minutes."
Lucifer swallowed hard.
Another breath. Another second closer to losing her.
But he wouldn't.
He couldn't.
He wasn't losing her. Not today. Not ever again.
