CHAPTER 46
We have already reached chapter 46, this book will end by chapter 65 I guess.
Haven sat stiffly on the couch, surrounded by men who felt more like shadows than people. Their sharp gazes piercing into her, but none of them made a move. They were observing her, waiting—but for what?
Her hands trembled slightly, but she clenched them into fists, digging her nails into her palms. She wouldn't show fear. Not again. Not ever.
She had spent years surviving monsters, crawling through hell with nothing but her own willpower keeping her alive. But now? Now she was sitting in the middle of a new nightmare—one where she didn't even know who the monsters were.
A bitter laugh almost escaped her lips.
First, Aerius. Then Vincent. And now... them.
Were they new captors? Vincent's enemies? Or were they Aerius's allies, playing some twisted game to manipulate her?
Her heartbeat thundered in her ears as she scanned their faces, committing each one to memory.
Her eyes darted to Aerius, who sat beside her, far too calm. His grip was light on her wrist, but it was there. A silent warning.
"Snow," he whispered softly, his voice carrying the same deceptive warmth it always had. "You're safe."
Safe? With him and these strangers? What a joke.
She turned her head slowly, her expression unreadable. "Where am I?"
Aerius smirked. "Somewhere far from Vincent."
The mention of that name made her chest tighten.
"These men," she continued, her voice sharp as she gestured toward them. "Who are they?"
Lucifer, the leader, finally spoke. His deep voice sent a chill through the air. "Your family."
Her blood ran cold.
The tension in the room was thick, an oppressive silence hanging in the air.
Lucifer was the first to break the silence. He placed a thick folder on the table and slid it toward her. "This is the DNA report," he stated flatly, his voice devoid of emotion. "It proves you're one of us. We are your brothers"
Haven stared at the men and then at the folder but made no move to touch it. Instead, she let out a sharp exhale, shaking her head slightly as if this was some kind of elaborate joke.
"Go on," Rafael encouraged, his tone softer than Lucifer's but still firm. "Read it, sorellina."
The Italian word made her flinch.
Sister.
Her?
No.
She wasn't one of them.
She didn't belong anywhere.
Haven finally let out a dry, humorless chuckle. The brothers watched as her expression twisted into something bitter. She stood up and turned her head, her gaze locking onto Aerius, who was now standing off to the side, silent but glaring at her as if daring her to speak.
"How much lower would you stoop?" she asked him, tilting her head slightly.
Aerius's jaw clenched, his eyes darkening in warning.
Haven ignored it. She took slow steps toward him, her arms still crossed as she stared him down. "Is this all for your revenge against Vincent?" she asked, her voice laced with exhaustion.
Aerius didn't respond, but the flicker in his eyes was enough of an answer.
She let out a dry laugh, stepping even closer. "Why don't you just kill him directly?" she taunted. Then, as if the realization hit her all over again, she gasped dramatically, a single tear rolling down her cheek. "Oh, that's right—you can't do shit alone."
Aerius's entire body tensed, his fists tightening at his sides.
"You always need to use something or someone to get what you want," she continued, her voice sharper now. "Just like you used me. Just like you used my entire life as a fucking pawn in your pathetic little war."
The Sinisters watched in silence, observing her, analyzing her, realizing something they hadn't before.
She didn't believe them.
She thought this was another game.
She thought they were trying to manipulate her into being their weapon against Vincent.
Haven turned toward the brothers now, her expression unreadable. "You don't have to go through all these elaborate lies just to get back at Iv- vincent."
Lucifer's expression didn't change, but Rafael's jaw twitched, and Michael looked slightly taken aback.
Izrael took a single step toward her, his voice even colder than usual. "We don't play games, angelo. The truth is in front of you."
Haven let out a breath, nodding as if coming to a final decision. "Then kill me," she said simply.
Silence.
Michael blinked. "What?"
"You heard me," she continued, looking Lucifer dead in the eye. "Kill me. Send my dead body to him. Then you can wage your war, get your revenge, do whatever the fuck you want. Because I am done."
Gabriel's brows furrowed. "Are you—"
"Serious?" Michael finished, his voice darker now, almost dangerous. "You think we brought you here to kill you?"
Haven scoffed. "I don't know what you brought me here for. But I know one thing—you are trying to use me." She turned toward Aerius again, her voice dropping into something more lethal. "Just like he did."
Aerius was barely holding back his rage now. His body was stiff, his breathing heavy. "You don't know what you're saying," he ground out.
Haven tilted her head mockingly. "Oh, but I do. I know you. And I know that you never fight your battles alone. You manipulate. You scheme. You twist people's minds until they don't know what's real anymore."
His eyes darkened with pure fury.
And then, he snapped.
Aerius's hand shot up, moving toward her face, his rage barely contained—
But before his palm could even get close, another hand caught his wrist, stopping him mid-air.
The room turned deathly silent.
Rafael's grip on Aerius's wrist tightened, his entire demeanor shifting into something lethal. "Try that again," he murmured, his voice calm, but chilling, "and I will show you why it's never a good idea to mess with the Sinisters."
Aerius stared at Rafael, his entire body radiating pure fury, but Rafael didn't even flinch. Instead, he twisted Aerius's wrist slightly, making him hiss.
Izrael, who had been silent for the past few seconds, finally spoke, his voice void of emotion. "He might not have hands the next time he tries to touch her"
Aerius clenched his jaw but didn't respond.
Haven, on the other hand, went completely still.
Her breath caught in her throat as she slowly turned her head toward the brothers, her mind processing the way Rafael and Izrael had reacted.
The way Izrael had spoken.
The way they had protected her.
She took a step back, her eyes darting between them.
Her heart pounded. "You..." Her voice shook slightly. "You're the Sinisters."
Haven's stomach twisted as the pieces started to fit together. She felt lightheaded, the room spinning slightly.
She had trusted Vincent. He had lied.
She had trusted Aerius. He had destroyed her.
And now, here she was, standing in a room full of men who were supposed to be some of the deadliest people in the world.
She let out a hollow laugh. "So I was right," she murmured to herself. "You are just like him."
Rafael frowned. "Like who?"
She looked up at him, her gaze sharp and exhausted at the same time. "Like every other monster I've ever met."
The silence that followed was heavy.
Lucifer's voice was quiet but firm. "We are not them."
Haven scoffed, crossing her arms. "Then prove it."
The brothers exchanged glances.
This was going to take a lot more than DNA reports.
This was going to take time.
Trust.
And none of them knew if she would ever give it.
But one thing was certain—
They weren't letting her go.
Not now.
Not ever.
In this year I will be launching books for each of the brothers. Hope you will love it.
