Epilogue

The Ebott Woods were dark, and it was hard enough hiking this path in the daylight, but I had to get out of there.  The moon shone down on my dark brown hair, lighting the path just enough to see were I was going.  Mom was gone, and she told me to run.  The rebellion against the Emperor had collapsed, from the inside, out.  She was gone, probably dead, and if I didn't get out of there, I would be too.  I slowed down, remembering how dangerous this path was.  I had no need for a broken ankle.  Lost in my thoughts, I didn't notice the gaping hole.  Next thing I know, the ground wasn't there.  I was falling.
