Hannah

Runa was so tired. They had to keep her for at least one more night. Her mom decided to go home for the night now that Runa was doing better.

Runa drifted in and out of consciousness through the night. Sometimes she woke up because the nurse was checking on her and sometimes she woke up in that strange cabin. It was daylight in the cabin and the wind was gently blowing a warm breeze. It felt good on her skin. But when she woke up in that cold hospital bed she felt pain and yelled for someone. The nurse rushed in and checked her vitals. She reset the machines and asked Runa if she needed anything but Runa had already fallen back asleep.

The next thing Runa remembered was walking naked through the woods. Her head hurt and she saw bruises on her torso as she looked down. Her left hand was dangling beside her and very painful. The sun was warm and the trees were softly swaying in a gentle wind. She looked behind her and saw the cabin. An old woman was rushing out the door after her with some kind of animal skin blankets.

"Oh dear," she yelled, "Come back here." She wrapped Runa in the blankets and walked her gently back to the cabin. She had silvery white hair and looked very familiar.

"Who are you?" Runa asked her.

"I'm Hannah," she said as she helped her back onto the cot. "I'm here to help you, child. This won't be easy for you to hear but, you live here. At least you do right now."

Runa reached up to rub her eyes and said, "What?"

"Here," Hannah told her as she helped Runa take a small sip from a cup. It tasted like some kind of tea with herbs in it.

"Carthia so thano, Sah thano sar" she chanted over and over.

Runa fell asleep again.
