Dr. Farage
The hospital was busier now in the early morning than it was the night before. The nurse working the floor last night had told Molly that the doctor would be in around 8 or 9. When Runa opened her eyes she squinted. The light bothered her badly. She moved her hand up to cover them and realized there was something large around her head. It was a bandage. It was wrapped all around the top of her head she discovered as she felt it.
"Mom?" Runa asked.
"Morning sweetheart," Molly told her, "I'm here." She walked over from the window to where Runa was laying.
"Mom, what is this?"
"That's just some bandages. You have an injury there."
"What kind of injury?"
"They don't know yet honey," she told her. "The doctor will be here soon to talk to us."
Runa tried to open her eyes some more but really couldn't.
Molly walked over and started digging through the purse she had brought with her. She walked back over and slipped a pair of sunglasses on Runa's face. "How's that?"
Runa blinked and opened her eyes. She felt a slight headache and everything seemed slightly blurry but she could see.
"Better," Runa said. "How long have I been here?"
"A couple days," she told her. "I've been here with you the entire time." Molly smiled. She was very ragged looking today. Usually she was quite pretty, even at work but not after 48 hours of worrying, crying and not getting rest or a shower. Runa was in worse condition though.
"Mom I'm hungry," Runa told her.
"Well," Molly said reluctantly, "I'm sorry but the Nurse said you can't have any solid food just yet. You can have some broth and stuff."
"Broth?" Runa said.
"You've got some bruised ribs and maybe worse. We have to wait to see what's what," Molly said, trying to keep her emotions hidden.
"Oh, okay," Runa replied. Runa looked at her wrist and her bandages that she could see.
"Has um..." Runa began. "Has he been up to see me?"
"He?" Molly said. "He who?"
"Brian."
Molly's face drew tight. She was clearly not happy with the question. "No Runa. He has not."
"Oh," Runa said with tears in her eyes. "Oh I see."
"Good Morning Miss Walker!" said a tall man of Middle Eastern descent who strode into the room with a small tablet computer. He stopped at the foot of her bed and then looked at Molly. "How are we doing this morning?"
"Good," Molly told him, "awake and asking questions."
"Good, good, that's what we like to hear. I'm Doctor Farage. If you don't mind, I need to examine your injuries Runa."
"Do you need me to step out?" Molly asked.
"No but if you'll pull the curtain..."
