"Remember when we were kids?" You looked up and saw your best friend, Alec Lightwood. His blue eyes weren't meeting yours instead he was looking intensely at his hands.

"Of course." You said evenly. "How could I forget?" You chuckled, trying to appear normal. You knew if you acted calm Alec would too. 

"Yeah, 'course you would." He mumbled, biting his lower lip. "I was just remembering when we'd train with Izzy and Jace." 

"Remembering how Izzy kicked my ass?" You laughed. "Thanks for reminding me, Lightwood." You leaned forward and placed your hand under his jaw, turning him to look at you. You almost gasped just seeing his face. A flash of the sad little boy with blue eyes blurred your vision. Oh God, how Alec has changed. 

"What's wrong?" You whispered, now seeing the eighteen year old instead of the eight year old. 

"I'm fine." He forced a smile and moved away from your hand. "Thanks Y/N."

You grabbed a training whip from the weapon's room and raced back to the training room. You smiled at Alec and twirled the whip around. 

"Let's begin." Alec's eyes opened widely in fear. You laughed and walked over to him.

"Come on, let's whip before Jace makes any inappropriate jokes." 

"I think saying "let's whip" is a pretty good start to inappropriate." He smirked, flicked his whip so it made a loud cracking noise. 

"Bite me." You smirked back. Both of you snapped in to action. With flips, jumps, and dives, you two managed to stand chest to chest tangled in your whips. Everything seemed to stop when you looked at his blue eyes. They weren't nervous or sad but confident and loving. You yanked the handle of your whip and slammed Alec's lips on yours. The kiss was soft and firm. After a few seconds you pulled away.

"I don't know why I did that." You breathed, staring at your childhood best friend. But you were pretty sure you didn't see him like that anymore. He was older and more beautiful in every way. 

"I don't know either." He gulped, looking deeply in your eyes like he was trying to guess what you were thinking. You two both took a breath and then slammed into another kiss.
