Prologue

I pale in comparison to the fabric laied before me. 5 ½ months is all it took. "Wow!" I breath. The women and children worked along side the men to help build the first new building of the now free world. We all labored diligently to make this one building. Tei took us to more hidden caverns under the surface of this world, all connected by the tunnels. Within these caverns were tools. Strange tools. Tools that create stone by the push of a button. The use of such tools has led to this building. Yet, somehow, the women still found time to make this. It's all hand made. It's long, flowing skirts will brush my ankles. The soft transcendent fabric swayed in delicate folds as I put it on. The dark blue mixed with the light blue. The top curved around my breasts and fell snug on my hips. The sleeves are like the rest of the gown. Flowing, and delicate. Silver beads line the top and weave down the arms. The pattern forms something so beautiful I don't know what to call it. They weave in and out like vines, and have dangling little ... things that take my breath away. My hair has gotten darker sense two years ago. It went from blond to brown. I cut it this morning.

Tei taught me how to bathe. He zapped a thing he called a tub for me from a tool and filled it with hot water that has been over a fire for most of the night. My first bath was amazing!! I look so different. I have pale skin, freckles, short dark hair, bright green eyes, a long pretty neck. The soap took my callosis away, so now my whole body is soft. Tei said it would do that. He gave me sented stuff. He also refused to show me how it's done. He said, ' It's like a bike, you just know.' He was right. Somehow I new what to do. "Now I'm glad he didn't show me. Talk about oquerd." I said allowed.

Today the people make Tei and I rulers. We are to name the planet, set advisers, make a system. " I'm forgetting something." I voice. Continuing to look in a body mirror, I think. My feet are bare. Maybe that's it? No. Tei said he has something for that. What then? My reflection is very attractive. "Your missing this." His soft tone bounced in my ears. Never mind the rest of me jumped.

Tei came up behind me and fastened a heart shaped locket around my neck. Upon further inspection I noticed it's small star. "It's the northern star." He said before walking out. I looked back up to the mirror and didn't see me. I saw a child of 18 yens. And I saw a heaven filled with blinking soft lights. All twinkling and dancing in the darkness. Someone is beside me. Someone I love.

Then it's gone. The memory stops before I see who. Loneliness grips me and I stroke the heart. Turning from the mirror I see a small box on the bed. A note read : Roman sandals. Size 5.
I open the box and put the sandals on. Now I'm ready. I walk out of the small bedroom.

A round corridor made of fine marble and thick wood floors lead to the center. This, the first building, is round. The dome ceiling is made of thick glass. It has many bedrooms, bathrooms, offices and other rooms. The corridor starts at the front entrance as a winding stair case that make a balcony over the doors that lead, in a wide spiral, to the center. The center is a large open circle. It has spiraling rows of pillows surrounding a set of big pillows that sit in the very center of the building. It holds the entire population with ⅔ of the room to spare.

I walk deep in thought. Soon Tei is beside me. We walk in silence. Once out side the opening of the center he states, "It's time now." He then took my hand and looked me in the eyes. "Are you ready?" I shook my head. "If anything I'm nervous. We are leaving soon and ... " He smiles. " They'll know what to do." At that point he turned back and we walked down a spiral row as everyone stood. They look on in reverence.

We slowly make our way to the two large pillows. My nerves are going crazy! So many things can go wrong. I start to list ever way it could. My hands get sweaty and Tei squeezes my hand. Once at the pillows we remain standing. " Trust worthy. " I say. "Loyal." Tei says. We go back and forth.

"Helpful."

"Friendly."

"Courteous."

"Kind."

"Brave."

"Charitable."

"Cheerful."

"Observant."

"Thrifty."

"Clean."

"Reverent."

"Love."

"Unity."

"And above all, the laws of good and evil have always been set. Choose to be good, or choose to be evil. Good is this people. Evil is that of the Master. Make your choice wisely. Those who choose evil will not be welcome here."

"This city will be named Shine. Only if you, the people, agree. The world will have the name it once held. Ember." Our voices ecoed in the large dome.

The people, in one voice, said, "We agree. To our leaders!" Then we all sat on the pillows holding hands. In unity we sing the voices of our hearts that mark the birth of our home.
