Chapter Thirteen

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the final round of our Olympics!" Lauren announced to the crowd.

Not much went on yesterday. All we did was practice a few games, and I somewhat managed to keep my distance from the guys, especially Mike. Thankfully he was busy talking to Elliot a lot.

Now here we are stretching and warming ourselves up for the five stages of the finale.

The order is this: basketball, track and field, swimming, water works (whatever that is), and the surprise competition.

Everyone, including staff, were going to be maneuvering to different seats to watch us compete throughout the day. I couldn't wait to beat Jessi's--

"Hey Lea!"

Speak of the Devil.

"It's Lei," I muttered.

"Whatever. Just wanted to wish you good luck, and may the best girl win." Jessi smiled. Of course, it was phony.

"Yeah, you too," I dismissed.

"Oh, wait!" Jessi clacked her pink pumps behind me. Seriously?! Pumps?!

I turned around and crossed my arms. "Yes?" I hissed.

"I also wanted to ask if it was okay to go out with Blake."

Are you kidding me?

"Why would I care?"

"Oh, it just seemed like you two had something going on."

"Never would that happen. I thought you were going out with Tyler," I smirked.

"Oh, him? Ugh. Tyler is sooo lame. I'm so breaking up with him. But thanks for the permish!"

I rolled my eyes as she clacked away. Jessi may have acted nice at that moment, but anyone with a brain could tell she was faking it.

I continued my stretching when Anthony strolled by.

"Hi, Tony!" I smiled as he waved.

"What's up, Lei? Haven't talked to you in a while."

We both sat down facing each other to chat.

"Eh, nothing much. How's our Tony Macaroni?" I laughed as I ruffled his hair. Tony and I were like siblings. Well, our whole group was close despite the occasional romance. Tony was like a brother to Carly and I though.

"I'm pretty good. I've been hanging out with Elliot and Mike a lot more."

Mike. Oh man.

"Um...yeah, that's cool. Well, we're about to start the tournament, so good luck Tony Macaroni."

He waved and walked off. I really didn't want to talk about Mike at the moment, although that was a pretty short conversation.

Anyway, basketball was about to start, and Emily handed me the ball.

"So who are we playing?" I asked.

"Jessi's team. Let's beat those bitches," Emily smirked.

Our team strolled to the outdoor basketball court to find Jessi's team and the wild crowd on the bleachers. The crowd had about 100 people.

We huddled together as Lauren announced the first tournament to the audience.

"Okay, so what's our plan?" I asked.

"I say wing it. Jessi's team won't have a chance," Opal laughed.

"Well, you never know. These people could've used daddy's money to get some b-ball lessons," Sophie countered.

"I think we should have a small plan, just in case," Emily explained.

"What do you think, Lei?" Carly asked.

"I think we should have a plan. Winging it should be in a worst-case scenario."

All the girls agreed, and we made a plan. Using Carly's street smarts and Emily's book smarts, we created a genius plan that'll confuse the hell out of Jessi's team. Hopefully.

Once we concluded the huddle, we all high-fived and took our positions. I handed Lauren the ball before we huddled for her to start.

Of course, Jessi was over in the middle.

"All right, ladies. Are you ready?" Lauren asked.

I nodded my head as Jessi have a thumbs up. Lauren threw the ball up in the air, and I swear it was like slow motion.

Since I was slightly taller than Jessi, I was able to swat the ball out of her grasp. I grabbed it in time before Deedee, I think, stole it.

I dribbled the ball and passed it to Opal. Opal passed it to Carly, and Carly whizzed past another crony named Zara. Zara became confused as Carly and Sophie passed it back and forth to each other. The crowed laughed as Zara stomped her foot on the ground like a toddler.

Sophie eventually passed it to Emily, and Emily landed a perfect hoop.

The crowed cheered as we all high-fived at Jessi's fury.

The whole game went the same way. Our team beating Jessi's team's asses.

Once Lauren finally blew the whistle, the score was 33-12. The only reason why Jessi's team almost caught up was because one f her smarter cronies caught on to what we were doing. We had to come up with a plan B, but that didn't stop us from winning b-ball champs.

"We're the champs and they're the chumps!" Emily sang.

"Hey don't be a sore winner," I smirked, "without me."

After we all bid each other a good game, we sat in the bleachers to watch the guys play.

The game ended with a tie of 30-30. Who knew Tyler was a beast when it came to basketball?

While the guys rested, we went up to the cabins to change into swim suits. The staff had switched Track and Field with swimming so it would be evened out for tomorrow's games.

We were swimming across the lake, but that's all I knew.

"So Lei, have you spoke with Blake recently?" Sophie asked nonchalantly.

"Nah, why would I anyway? He's such an ass."

"I'm surprised you two were able to last this long without exploding at each other."

I scoffed. "Well, only because of the Olympics. We still have five weeks here, you know."

Opal interjected with a laugh. "Good luck with that."

"Long time no see, Lei," Alec chuckled as he flicked my shoulder.

"And I thought today was a great day," I snorted as I turned around.

"And I always thought I'd see you half naked someday!" He grinned.

I rolled my eyes and dove into the lake where all the competitors were warming up. We were starting with a relay; we were swimming one lap back and forth. Thank goodness.

I decided that I would start to get it over with. Next was Opal, Carly, Sophie, then Emily.

All four teams were competing this time, and if I knew that earlier, I would've chosen something more...comfortable to wear. Not that It'd matter anyway. There was a crowd behind us.

I tied my hair into a braid and tried some of those stretches that you'd see the Olympians do. Well, I couldn't make my muscles flap like theirs, but I rotated my shoulders a few times.

"Take your mark," Lauren spoke into a bullhorn. She raised a gun and fired blanks into the sky.

I took off with a simple freestyle. I didn't want to tire myself out for the other water competitions we'd had soon after. What changed my mind was when I saw Blake two rows from me winking. That douchebag thought he could beat me?!

It was either Blake's cockiness that made me infuriated, or the adrenaline coursing through my veins.

I picked up speed, kicking my legs and splashing as least as possible. I finally made the turn and back stroked to the finish line first. I slapped Opal's back in luck as she swam like a fish. That woman was definitely a mermaid.

Opal came back as soon as she left, leaving all the other teams still on their second person. Except Blake's.

Carly and Jacob were neck and neck. I screamed as loud as my lungs and throat could take in encouragement. Some people definitely thought I was some beast-lady, screaming her problems away.

Once it was Emily's turn, she swam like her life depended on it. We were still tied with Blake's team; Em and David neck and neck.

Everyone screamed and cheered as Emily touched the lake's dirt wall a few milliseconds before David did. She climbed out onto the grass and heaved breaths of fresh oxygen.

Our team surrounded her and yelled in excitement. She sat up and smiled tiredly.

"Woo," she cheered calmly.

We laughed and sat with her when Lauren called for a five minute break.

As everyone was in their own conversation, I happened to look past Carly and see Blake without a shirt.

Hot damn.

Ohhhhh shipwreck! It's an early update! Not that I have a schedule or anything.

I'm probably the biggest procrastinator you will ever meet, as said in my description.

Like, time management and I is like Blake and Lei, enemies.

But you know what peeved me the most? People who nag. Ugh, naggers are such a turn off.

Comment or message me a pet peeve you have!
