(48) Buy-A-Boyfriend

Jack needs someone to impress his parents, Pays Mark, the popular boy to be his date for a week.
Jack came home from school, sighing as he sat down. His parents were in the kitchen, whispering about something. The came from the kitchen standing in front of him.
"Jack, Sweetie? Don't you have a girlfriend yet?" Jack rolled his eyes, not this again. His parents would always go on about him not having a girlfriend, and he'd give the same answer and storm off to his room, like he did now. He sat on his bed thinking. His parents were very homophobic and still lived in la la land thinking Jack was straight. He wanted to get back at them...What if he hired someone to be his boyfriend for the week? Just too see his parents reaction and laugh. He scrolled through his contacts and landing on Marks, One of the most popular, smartest kids in school. He'd decided to message him, not questioning how he got his number.
Jack; Hey, Could you maybe do me a favor?
Mark responded almost right away, something Jack hadn't expected.
Mark; Depends, What is it?
Jack; I know it's an odd request, but could you pretend to be my boyfriend for a week? My parents won't shut up about it, plus they're super homophobic and Ill pay you.

Mark sat in his room re-reading what Jack had just sent him, out of all people to be his fake boyfriend, he had chosen Mark. The red headed boy thought about it for a moment. What was the worst that could happen?

Mark; Sure.
Jack; Really? Thanks... Babe ;)

Mark blushed, rolling his eyes.
Mark stood by Jacks locker, As the green haired boy nervously stuffed random junk into his messy locker. "You know, its not the most romantic way to ask someone out." Mark Said, raising his eyebrows.
"Shut up..." Jack mumbled, looking at the ground. "Better get to class," Mark spoke slapping Jack on the behind, "Babe." He said, before walking off. Jack wanted to swirl into the drain. The green headed boy sat in his first class, not paying any attention at all. The most popular guy had just agreed to be his fake boyfriend and slapped him on the ass! Merry fucking Christmas too me, Jack thought. Then shook his head. Remember, it's just an act to get at your parents.
Felix waved a hand in front of Jacks face.
"Wake up, you spud!" Jack shook his head, "Shut up meatball!" Felix chuckled nudging Jack. "Sooo, Jack, You're dating Mark huh?" Word sure spreads fast. "Mhmmmm." "You sly dog! How'd you get that lucky!?" Felix particularly yelled. Causing the teacher and a few others to glance Jacks way. "Could you say that any louder!? And Hey! I'm charming..." Felix just laughed.

At Lunch, Mark joined him as they sat together. Jack was nervous around Mark and didn't know what to say.
"I cant believe you slapped my ass!" Mark chuckled at this.
"Isn't that what boyfriends do?"
"I can fire you, yknow."
"You won't though, Im wayyyy too cute." The red headed boy Said, flexing. Jack rolled his eyes, he hated it when Mark was right.

After the day was done, Mark and Jack walked slower than usual to the Irishman's home, so he could finally shut his parents up as he unlocked the door, he took Marks hand.
"Ma! Come meet someone."
She stepped out of the kitchen seeing Jack and Mark standing together, almost dropping her casserole."And who might this be?"
"This is my- Jack coughed, pausing. "My boyfriend Mark." "Boyfriend!?" She gasped."Problem, mother?"Jack rolled his eyes. "Of course it is! Wait until your father hears about this." Mark was chuckling, Jack was right this was more  satisfying than he thought. Jack just walked away, Mark followed behind ignoring the Irish woman's profanity. As Jack closed the door, he chuckled. "Man, Her face!" "It was pretty funny..." Mark agreed, this fake boyfriend thing would be a walk in the park.

After a few rounds of rocket league, Jacks Dad burst in the room and without thinking, Jack lunged at Mark, kissing the red headed boy. His Dad saw, making a noise of disgust and slamming the door. Mark, his cheeks as red as his hair as Jack pulled away.
"Um, Sorry I just..."
"It's fine, I just wish I saw his face." Mark nodded pretending like it wasn't a big deal, The walk in the park was turning into a sprint through it.

It was day four, Mark and Jack had been talking on the phone when his father barged in, taking Jacks phone and hanging up. "I'm taking this until you get your head sorted out!" "What do you mean? I'm fine father! You just can't accept Im gay!" Jack spat, anger in his soul. His father slammed the door, nearly knocking things off his shelves. Jack had had enough of this and climbed out his window careful not to make too much noise. He went to go find Mark.
After searching for a while he found him by a pond, throwing some stones in.It mustve been Marks happy place, like it was Jacks. The blue eyed boys stomach was in knots, perhaps because his parents, or maybe because he did actually want to date Mark for real. But that was as likely as his parents accepting him.
"Mark, listen." He sighed, Mark cranking his head to look the blue eyed boy in the face.
"My parents will never accept me, we may as well drop this act. In any other circumstance, we- this wouldn't happen."
"In any other circumstance, I'd agree." Mark stated, running a hand through his hair. He thought this would be easy. He was wrong.
Jack was confused, turning away from the red head.
"Maybe, it's not an act." The Brown eyed boy spoke, his voice trembling.
"What?" Jack spoke, bewilderment in his voice.
"I'm so in love with you, you idiot!"
Silence fell over the too, Mark annoyed at his out burst wanting to jump into the pond.
Maybe Jack was in denial.
"But I'm the shy nerdy kid and your the popular hunk, this never happens-"
Mark kissed Jack again, not because of his parents or for an act, Because he wanted too. That did shut Jack up, though.
After the kiss, Jack sighed. "Okay, no more acting. Let's try... this." "Who said I was acting before?" Mark raised an eyebrow causing Jack to nudge him.
Jack wouldn't have choose anyone else to be his fake, then real boyfriend.
