Something Was Up

In less than twenty four hours Danny was on his way back to New York with Scarlett and Wyatt. So many things had happened in such a short period of time. It was a lot for everyone to take in.

Soon, everyone got the news that the wedding was in fact not happening. Some asked why but they were not given an answer. Everyone was heart broken on both Jessica and Danny's sides of the family. Danny's family wasn't exactly sure what was going on. There were only a few that really knew.

When Danny got back to New York he kept his phone off. He didn't want to hear from anyone. He just went on caring for the twins. He waited for Jessica, wondering if she would ever come back.

Deep down inside he knew she would. He figured that the both of them needed time apart. But, this separation wouldn't be long. Jessica would never be away from the twins for such a long time.

It was Saturday now. No one had heard a single peep from Jessica or Danny. Everyone back in Minnesota was worried about what was going on. They didn't know if Jessica was home yet or if Danny and Jessica are even living under the same roof anymore.

It scared everyone. Dorthy especially. She had wished things weren't this way. Everything was just fine, but something snapped in the both of them. She kept trying to see the pros of this all. Maybe it was best. Dorthy just wanted Jessica to be okay.

"Today they would have gotten married... I can't believe this." Jane says

Ann and Sarah sat around her at the restaurant. They were just as distraught.

"We were the last to see her. She seemed fine. She was happy." Ann says

Sarah sighs "We all know something was up with her." Sarah says

they stop and turn to Sarah. "What?"

"Come on... we were all there when Jessica was crying to us about Danny..."

"She was drunk." Ann says sternly

They all knew exactly what Sarah was talking about. The night of the bachelorette part when they sat around talking about their problems. Sarah knew they remembered just as much as she did.

"Exactly. She spills when she's drunk."

"Jessica couldn't have meant the things she said." Jane says

Ann really thinks for a moment... "Then why else would she have run away?"

Sarah nods "When I walked her out to the taxi I confronted her about all of the things she said. She was in denial at first... I had to talk to her about it. What if she married Danny having all of those feelings?"

Then Jane and Ann came to the conclusion about what pushed Jessica to leave. Their first reaction was to be mad at Sarah, but then they realized that Sarah may have prevent Jessica from making a big mistake.

The night of Jessica's bachelorette party-

"Jessica, don't cry." Ann says hugging her sister

"I don't know what I want anymore. Everything with Danny and I always happens so fast. Sometimes I'm happy sometimes I'm not. Most of the times I feel like I'm not making him happy. I mean look at me!" Jessica sobs

"We are all so drunk. You don't meant it." Jane moves her body around in a circle and chuckles

"I love Sam... I always have... but when I met Danny, I loved him in a different way. What if I love him as the father of my children? It's hard because Sam and I had a plan. If he didn't fuck it all up I wouldn't be in this mess."

"But then you wouldn't have the twins." Sarah slurs

"I know... I love them to death. I just want what's best for them."

"If marry Danny is what's best for them and not you, why would you marry him?" Ann asks

Jessica throws her hands in the air. "I don't know! What am I doing?"

"You're getting married, Jessica! Stop all of this second guessing shit. You love Danny, he makes you happy. Fuck Sam!" Jane says sternly

Jessica wipes her tears and sighs. "I'm sorry..."

"Don't do this to yourself. You know you love Danny." Ann says

"I do..."

"Is Sam the problem?" Sarah asks

Jessica shakes her head. "No!"6

Dorthy's POV-

Dorthy was sitting in her living room putting away all of the wedding decorations she had made for herself. Dorthy couldn't help but cry. She was frustrated with the way things happened. She was anxious for answers. She needed to speak with jessica. Dorthy didn't leave the house for days, hoping Jessica would come to her.

While she put everything away in boxes she got a knock on the front door. She stood up and walked to answer it.

Zoe stood there with a sad face.

"Zoe?"

"Dorthy, can I come in?"

"Of course..."

Zoe comes in and sits down. When she sees what Dorthy's doing she begins to feel sad.

"I can't believe any of this." She says

Dorthy sits down next to her and sighs.

"How did this all happen? Did they just decide not to get married and go home? Was there a fight? I know nothing!"

Dorthy's heart sunk. She would have thought Danny's mother knew what was going on, but she was oblivious to the situation.

"Zoe... you don't know what happened?"

"No one will answer my calls!"  She says frantically

"Jessica, she left. Something must have snapped, I don't know what. But she got a ticket to Hawaii and vanished. Danny went to get her but came home alone. He left with the twins. I haven't heard from either of them."

Zoe sat there in silence. She didn't know what to say or do.

"What happens now? Is Jessica with them."

Dorthy rubs her temples and shakes her head. "I have no clue... Jessica, she has a mind of her own. It can get her in trouble sometimes. I just want things to work out. Danny didn't deserve any of this."

Sunday night, Danny's POV-

"Dada wook!" Scarlett says as she runs to Danny with one of her toys.

Danny was laying on the couch watching basketball as Scarlett and Wyatt played on the floor. Over the last few days so much sadness had hit Danny. It was almost like a dark depression flew over his head in a matter of seconds. He tried so hard to be happy for the children, but it was impossible. He missed Jessica, as mad at he was. Saturday was the hardest for him. Knowing that he could be married to Jessica in this very moment cuddled up with her killed him. He began to beat himself up. He wish things had been different. He couldn't stop questioning what he did wrong.

"Wow, sweetie. That's so cool." Danny says as enthusiastically as he can.

"Sad?" Wyatt asks as he climbs onto the couch to cuddle with Danny.

Danny wraps his arms around his son and holds him. "I'm okay, buddy."

Then, all of their attention goes to the front of the apartment. They hear a key sound and both twins quickly jump up, they knew that sound too well.

Danny quickly sits up and watches at the twins go to the front door. He knew exactly what was going on and who was about to walk in.

"Mama!" The twins scream

When Danny hears them call for Jessica, his heart sinks. The door closes and he could hear sniffles. Jessica had been crying. He debated whether he should greet her or not.

"Hi my babies. Mommy missed you." Jessica says as she kneels to the ground and holds them in her arms.

The twins were ecstatic when they saw Jessica. They missed her so much.

"Back?" Wyatt asks

Jessica nods as she cries softly. "Yes baby, I'm back."

"Miss you mama!" Scarlett says

"I missed you too baby."

Then, Jessica looks up to see Danny looking down at then. She stands up with both twins in her arms.

"Dada, wook!" Scarlett says pointing to Jessica.

Danny nods "I see..." he says giving Jessica a stern look.
