I Vow
October 30th,
Jessica woke up early in the morning. After a long night of tossing and turning and long conversations with her sisters and friend Sarah, she finally felt ready to take on the day... her wedding day.
She couldn't sleep that night. Her mind couldn't stop thinking about what would be one of the happiest days of her life and a new beginning.
She turned to her left side on the bed to see it empty. Sam was at his brothers and Jessica was at the house with the bridal party.
When Jessica got out of bed she looked at the frame on her bedside table. It was her and Sam. The love of her life.
Jessica headed downstairs where everyone was up and ready to go.
"Happy wedding day my beautiful Jessie!" Dorthy tears up as she gives her youngest daughter a long, heartfelt hug.
"Thank you... I can't believe that the day is finally here." Jessica grins
"It's happening so fast, but in the best way possible." Jessica adds
Dorthy and made up breakfast for everyone. Jessica, her mother, two sisters, Sarah, and Scarlett all sat at the table laughing, crying, and sharing their excitement for the day.
"I'm opening the champagne. We need a head start." Jane says as she pours the bride a glass
"Do you have your vows?" Ann asks
Jessica nods, gets up from the kitchen chair and heads over to the cookie jar on the counter. Underneath was her tiny piece of paper with her love for Sam written all over it.
"Right here." She giggles

Around noon hair and makeup began. Jessica was going to be last so she watched as everyone else got ready.
"Scarlett, you're mommy's little beautiful girl, aren't you?" Jessica smiles as she does gets Scarlett ready herself.
It was important to Jessica to share this moment with her only daughter. She put soft girls in her beautiful blonde hair as she had the biggest smile on her face.
"I'm happy, mommy!" She says
"I'm so happy that you're happy." Jessica gives her a quick kiss and hugs her
"Here it is. All ready!" Dorthy walks in carrying the wedding dress. Dorthy hangs it up and unzips it. When Jessica sees her wedding dress it just felt even more real.
There was a photographer there to catch every happy moment throughout the day.
"Wow, Jessie. It's really beautiful." Sarah says
"Do you think he'll like it?" Jessica turns to everyone and asks
"Yes, he'll love it." Ann says softly

Sam's POV:
Sam was at Dorthy and Alberts house getting ready. He was so anxious and ready to marry Jessica. He couldn't wait any other second. His hands trembled and he had sweat running down his face. He was nervous, but in a good way.
He sat alone in the bedroom and kept replaying his vows over and over again in his head. He wanted it to be perfect for Jessica because she deserved nothing more than the perfect wedding and the most perfect words to know how loved she is by Sam.
"I thank god everyday.... no no, I can't believe... no." Sam says to himself as he fixes his vows
Albert knocks on the door and walks in.
"Hey, Sam. How are you holding up?" He asks
"I'm nervous." He says
"Don't be... this was meant to happen. This day is the day god has been waiting for."
"I love your daughter, Albert. This day means so much to me. I just want to make sure that everything is perfect for her."
"Here's a tip, Sam. Don't worry about this day not being perfect, because it could go to shit and Jessica would still have the best day ever with you and be the happiest girl on earth." Albert winks
"That's what I love about her... what I love about us. Everything could be wrong but that doesn't matter."

"Okay, come on out, Jessica. Let's see you!" Sarah yells
Dorthy had just finished helping Jessica add the final touches to her outfit. Before Jessica showed herself to everyone, she had a few moments with her mom.
"It's different this time around, isn't it? I can tell." Dorthy says
Jessica nods and looks at herself in the mirror. "I've never had this feeling before. I can't explain it." Jessica whispers
"It's a new sense of happiness that you're feeling." Dorthy smiles
"I remember I felt that when I married your father. Jane and Ann felt it too." Dorthy adds
"I love this feeling. I also love the feeling of knowing that this is the best and easiest decision of my life. My kids love Sam and I love Sam." Jessica cries
For the first time in a very long time, she finally felt relief. Everything she had dreamed of as a little girl was coming true. Her life was complete.
Jessica wipes her tears and looks in the mirror one more time. "This is it." She says
It was around three. The wedding started at five. Jessica and everyone had to get their pictures taken before the wedding.
Dorthy opened the bedroom door and Jessica walked out in her beautiful white gown.
Immediately when Scarlett saw her mother, she ran to her and gave her the biggest hug.

"This is it." George says as Sam gets ready to walk to the arch.
"I know... this is it." Sam says
The wedding was right on the lake. The wooden arch was covered in Jessica's favorite fall flowers. All of the rows of chairs were decorated accordingly. They were getting married under the beautiful fall leaves. When Sam saw everything in place he was happy and knew Jessica would be happy too. It was quote and relaxing. Everyone sat in their chairs waiting.

Right at five the music started playing. Sam stood on the right side of the arch. Next to him was his his George, his cousin, and friend. Wyatt stood with Sam as well.
Then, the bridesmaids began to walk down the aisle with their fall bouquets. Sarah, Jane, then Ann. Dorthy walked down the aisle with Jack in her arms as he waved at everyone. Next up was Scarlett in her beautiful little flower girl dress. Sam cried softly seeing this little girl throw the flowers on the ground for her mother.
Finally, it was Jessica's turn. She looked to her father and smiled.
"Are you ready baby girl?" He asks with a soft smile. Jessica could see the sadness in her dads eyes as he gets ready to give his little girl away.
"I'm ready." He says
"I love you and I'm so proud of you. Never forget that." He says
Jessica gives her dad one more hug before their arms hook and they start walking.
Everyone stands up and looks at the bride. Sam and Jessica's eyes met as soon as she walked out. They started to cry and couldn't control themselves.
As Jessica walks down the aisle she feels such an overpowering amount of love flow through her body. When she finally makes it to Sam she smiles big.
"Who today gives this bride away?" The pastor asks
"Her mother and I." Albert says
Sam gives both Sam and Jessica and hug sits down. When their eyes meet they lock together and do not move.
"Today we gather here to celebrate Jessica and Sam and their ever lasting love. Today is only the beginning for these two as their start their lives together and husband and wife."
When Jessica saw the tears in Sam's eyes she couldn't help herself. It was hard for them to get a grip and keep their eyes dry.
The wedding ceremony starts by prayer and the pastor shares stories from the Bible before they begin vows.
"Sam and Jessica have written their own vows to share today with one another. Jessica..." he says
Ann hands Jessica her piece of paper and she takes a deep breath.
"Sam, you have been my best friend, mentor, confidant, and my greatest challenge. But most importantly, you are the love of my life and you make me happier than I could ever imagine and more loved than I ever thought possible. You are an amazing man to Scarlett, Wyatt, and Jack who are so incredibly blessed to have you. My greatest joy is when you talk about them and they talk about you. I believe that you were placed in our lives for a reason, even if that means how to correctly make Mac and cheese. With you, you have taught me how to live, how to preserve, and how to love myself. In my darkest moments you and my children are the light that makes everything bright again. Today, at this moment, everything from now on is forever. I promise to love you at your best and at your worst, I promise to understand and listen, to keep our lives exciting and full of joy, and treat you with the upmost amount of love and kindness. Walking about the aisle today was like walking into a new and exciting chapter in my life. I couldn't be happier to share this life with you, Sam. My love." Jessica was able to get through her vows all at once, but after she cried a little harder. Sam wanted to kiss her right then, but he had to wait just a little while longer.
Dorthy and Albert witnessing Jessica at a moment like this made their hearts swell. When she was in the hospital, close to death, they didn't think they'd ever get to see her this happy again. Their minds were at ease knowing that Jessica truly was in love.
"Sam..." the pastor says
Sam sniffles and takes the little piece of paper from Wyatt.
"As you know, I've never been amazing with words but it wasn't hard to come up with these words to express the profound love that I have for you, Jessica Lange. I am so proud that today I get to become your husband and be a permanent member of you and your children's little family. As my dad said, when you trip it's easy to get up, but when you fall in love, it's hard to get back on your feet. Especially having a woman like you my legs go numb. You have brought an abundance of joy and happiness into my life. I see these vows not as promises but as privileges: I get to laugh with you and cry with you; care for you and share with you. I get to run with you and walk with you; build with you and live with you. After today, I don't want to stop at just getting married, I want to continue to grow with you as a person. You're my life and my light. I'll never stop getting butterflies in my stomach every time I see you and I promise you that. I vow to be the best man to you, Scarlett, Wyatt, and Jack. I vow to be your partner through thick and thin, to never let you go, and to show you everyday how much you mean to me."
There wasn't a dry eye in sight. The love they had for each other was light a bright beacon that no one would resist. It was obvious that they loved each other.
"Do you, Jessica take Sam to be your husband?"
"I do." She smiles
"Do you Sam take Jessica to be your wife?"
"I do."
Scarlett and Wyatt hand Sam and Jessica their rings as they slide them on their trembling fingers.
"I know pronounce you Mrs and Mrs. Shepard. You may kiss your bride, Sam."
