Author's Note
Wow. This has really been one hell of a journey, I mean I seriously didn't expect to finish this book the way I did. I always knew it would be about the destruction of one's self, but to go deep into the core and explore the true complexity that comes with self-acceptance, identity crisis, narcissism, and selflessness is truly breathtaking to me.
Now this wasn't perfect, but nothing in life is unless we inch away our standards for what is presented before us. Perfection is really ambiguous just like grey morality and art itself.
I also have to note that this book is not here to condone rape, abuse, or suicide by any means. I am privy to one of these three situations and this book has actually helped me personally understand what he went through. Though I won't have any deeply-rooted experience with it unless it happens, I now have a better mindset and understanding than I had before.
All in all, this felt very refreshing to write a book that dealt with a lot of ambiguity, darkness, freedom, and just life in general. Life and all its complex nature. It also took a lot out of me to write as this story hit deep and did remind me there is always another way and sometimes we are the only answer to our lives and that's fine.
I know for a fact, Raymond didn't have to commit suicide and could've gotten help but that's what happened. The story could be read from 1 to 10 or 10 to 1, either way it shows that he once was very happy and had no intention of going out like this until it was his only way of freedom. His only means to be himself as being selfless in the sense you don't feel like a person anymore, is one of the worst feelings in the world besides loss.
Feel free to leave feedback and I will get back to anyone and everyone who has taken the time to read this story. Once again, thank you and I'm grateful for all your support. It truly means the world to me.
