"You either shoot him or I shoot you..." the man said as I stood in the middle of the small convenience store. My brain was buzzing and swimming from too much alcohol. I looked at my dad as the man handed me the gun. "STOP!" I heard a female shout as I turned back to my dad and Luna was standing between us...

I sat up in my bed and shook my head hard. I didn't have the dreams often, but when I did it always woke me up. I laid back down slowly in my bed and took a deep breath as I threw my arms over my eyes. That night haunts me every day of my life. That was the day my entire life changed forever. It changed everything about me and who I am.

Before that night, I was an ok student in high school. I had a couple friends, but I wasn't popular. Before that night I would go to parties and have one night stands, use girls and throw them away. I would smoke weed and drink heavily. I would drive drunk and get into huge arguments with my mom. Changbin and Jisung were my best friends and at that time, even they didn't want to know me. Until that night, the night my whole life changed.

Thing was, Luna had never been in that dream before. It was always the same dream, and for some reason when she came into view I felt comfort flood through my body. I felt safe, and I felt like things would be ok no matter what happened that night.

"Hey, get up!" Bin yelled through the door, I hadn't even realized that my alarm was going off.

"I'm up! I'm up. Damn" I muttered throwing my blankets back and crawling out of bed. Praying to the headache gods that my head would stop pounding. I sat on the edge of my bed and tried to shake the feeling I always got from the dream and headed to the bathroom.

LUNA
"OH GOD" I said loudly as I sat up straight in bed while I could see the red in the room it slowly faded. I didn't usually have nightmares, but today I did. Chan had been holding a gun, and pointing it at another man.

"AHHH, my god! Why are you yelling at this hour?!" Bora said sitting straight up in her bed next to mine.

"Sorry, it was a bad dream." I mumbled as I got out of bed and headed towards the bathroom to get ready for class.

Whatever that dream was, my brain was working overtime to make that up. Chan didn't seem like the type to carry a gun around, much less point one at somebody.

As I got to through the quad and entered the science building I saw Chan sitting on the bottom two stairs. He was scribbling away in a notebook in his lap. He had a red and black striped sweater on and black jeans, at least I think they're black. They could be some other dark color I can't see, but we'll go with black. I walked over to him and leaned against the stair rail.

"Hey, what'cha scribbling?"

He looked up at me and for once didn't look annoyed. "Nothing. Just finishing my homework for class."

"Seems a little last minute." I said sarcastically and he let out a tight laugh, almost as if he shouldn't be laughing at something I said.

"Yeah, rough night. Didn't get a chance to finish." He closed his notebook and shoved it in his bag before standing up and started walking away. He stopped after about a step and a half and turned around to look at me for a moment before speaking again. "I'm sorry, by the way. For being so difficult."

I had to keep my face still and not look like I was in complete shock, was he....being nice?

"It's ok. You're just a difficult person. I get it." I said still leaning against the rail.

"I'm really not. I just have a lot going on...that's all...I'll see you later, Luna" He said slightly smiling before finally walking away.

Did he just use my name? Did he really just apologize? Is he sick? I'm so confused...

CHAN
The look on her face when I said her name. It could have lit a room. The soft confused smile, and her eyes opening wide. It made my heart skip a little. As much as I was trying not fall for her, I couldn't help feeling happy after our interaction. The way her presence had calmed me after my dream last night. She wasn't even there and she calmed me. Usually after those nightmares, my entire day is spent going over and over all the things I could have done differently in that situation. Not today, today I was...happy. I had't felt like this in months, and I didn't know how to take it. I was pretty sure it was because of her, and no matter how hard I tried to fight it, I was attracted to her.

"Changbin!" I yelled after class running up to him as he walked to the cafeteria. Jisung was next to him with his messenger bag slung across his chest.

"Hey! You're in a good mood." He said looking at me like I'd lost my mind.

"Yeah, well. I decided I'd try to be less of an asshole today. Hey, Jisung" I waved.

"Yeahhh.....you're acting weird. Did you get laid?" Jisung joked as I rolled my eyes.

"No." I shook my head. "Can't I just be less of a prick for a day?"

"I mean...I guess so. Why are we friends with you again, Chan?" Changbin asked as we got inside of the building.

"Cause you buy me food when my meal card is empty." I joked.

"Ah, not again man. Seriously? How do you keep doing that?" He said stopping in his tracks and whining.

"What? Am I supposed to starve myself?" I joked as Changbin finally agreed to buy me food.
As we exited the buffet line I noticed Luna sitting by herself in the back of the room, "I'll talk to you guys later, thanks Binnie!"

"Where's he going?" Jisung asked his cheeks once again already stuffed with food.

I walked over to her table and set my tray down, inviting myself. She slowly looked up at me as I started eating.

"There's like 80 other tables, you're sitting with me?" She asked confused. "Did you hit your head last night? What is going on with you?"

I shrugged my shoulders and looked up at her. Her brown eyes almost looked like honey in the sunlight that streamed into the lunchroom. Her skin was like fresh milk tea, and her hair fell softly against her shoulders. That was when I caught myself staring. "Uh, I don't know. I just didn't feel like sitting with Bin and Jisung"

"You hate me. Did you forget? I mean, not that I'm not flattered that you're finally not being so rude, but I'm just a little confused." She answered.

"I never hated you." I answer looking up at her. "I just..." I put my fork down, "I...I didn't know why you made me feel the way I do."

"What? Disgust? Contempt?" She asked, still confused.

"Comfort." I answered looking up at her eyes.

LUNA
My eyes shot up from my book at stared Chan. His face was completely calm as he stared at me. I had been feeling our connection for weeks, and now I knew he had been too. After a few minutes of silent shock, I asked him a question.

"So were you lying to me when I asked you if you saw any color?"

He smiled and look back down at his food, "I only see it when I'm around you. When I bumped into you that day, the entire spectrum of color lit up, then when I walked away from you it all went away again. Then you told me that day in the library that you only saw red, so I figured maybe I was a secondary soulmate, but then I would only see one color too. I don't know what's going on."

"A secondary soulmate?" I asked. I'd never heard of that before.

"Yeah, where your original soulmate died before you met. Then you're placed with a secondary. You don't see full color, but you get a few."

"Hunh" I mumbled looking out the window next to that table. "So why do I only get to see red, and you see all of it?"

He looked back up at me, "I'm not sure. I've been trying to do research, but I haven't found anything." He shoved more food in his mouth.

He's been doing research on me this whole time? What else is he going to tell me to blow my mind? He feels comforted by me. He sees full color when he sees me. What the hell is happening right now?

"You're full of surprises, Chan" I said finally putting my book down and crossing my arms on the table.

"Not really." He shrugged his shoulders as his alarm went off. "I have one more class today. I gotta go. I'll see you around."

"You'll see me around? You just admitted you're my soulmate and dropped a bomb on me and 'you'll see me around'?"

He smiled at me and put his hands on the back of the chair and leaned down "I'll see you later, how's that? Better?"

I nodded my head "Better"

He laughed as he grabbed his tray and walked away. Bora wasn't going to believe this. I walked back to my dorm in a daze. Thinking about what had just happened. I smiled to myself thinking how excited I was to get to know him better. I was so lost in my own thoughts that I hadn't even realized I was at my own dorm room door.

"Bora..." I said when I got in the room. She was sitting on her bed doom scrolling through tiktok.

"Luna..." She repeated mocking me.

"Something just happened with Chan. You're not going to believe what he just told me!" I said excited.

"What?! What happened!" She said instantly dropping her phone and putting all of her attention on me.

"He said he does see full color when I'm around. He doesn't see it all the time, just when he's around me. He isn't sure why I only see red, he's been doing research this entire time trying to find out."

"Wait, WHAT?! So he IS your soulmate?" He eyes were wide and a smile played on her face.

"YES, and that's not all. He said that I make him feel comfort when he's around me. That's why he hasn't left me alone."

"So why are you here then? Why aren't you off making out somewhere?" She joked, laughing at me as I rolled my eyes.

"We're not heathens, Bora" I said sarcastically sitting on my bed.

"Well, excuse me. Seungmin and I..."

"You and Seungmin were sex crazed teenagers that couldn't keep your hands off each other for more then 10 seconds. It was the most awkward part of my life, thank you." I joked.

"Ok fine." She held both hands up and looked at me. "So, did he ask you out then?"

"No. He said he'll see me later." I was a little disappointed. I liked talking to him earlier. I got to see a different side of him. I saw him smile and his little dimples. He even laughed at me today, but then he seemed like he would just see me around like he usually does.

"He seems to be warming up to you though. Sometimes it works like that, Lu. Be patient."

I smiled softly back at her. "We'll see. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I don't know with him."

"Relax, Lu. It'll happen."
