Chapter 6
Being the morning person that she is, Zoe woke up at around 7:30 and got out of bed. She went into the bathroom and showered to wake herself up a little more, before making her way back into her bedroom with a towel wrapped around her small body. She opened her newly filled wardrobe and flicked through the many clothes she now owned. After at least five minutes, Zoe finally settled on a black tank top underneath a denim crop top with the front tied loosely, a pair of black skinny jeans and black Converse. She tied her hair in a half-up-half-down ponytail and applied some makeup. After their shopping trip yesterday, Zoe stayed at Victoria and Adam's for a few extra hours and Victoria taught her how to put on makeup and other girly things. Although, she also told Zoe that she didn't really need much makeup, so today she only put on a bit of mascara, eyeliner and light pink lipstick.

Zoe looked in her full-length mirror and smiled. She thought she looked pretty good, and she hadn't thought that in a long time.
"Morning, Andy." She greeted her older brother, walking into the kitchen.
"Morning, sweetheart." He replied, not looking up from the newspaper he was reading while he ate a bowl of cereal.
Still not looking up, he asked, "Got any plans for today?"
"I was thinking I might just go for a walk and explore this place a little." Zoe told him, taking a bowl for herself and filling it with Frosties. She then grabbed a spoon and sat down at the table, opposite her older brother. That's when he finally looked up and frowned slightly.
"Are you wearing makeup?" He asked.
"It's only a little bit." Although it had only been a couple of days, Zoe was becoming more and more comfortable with her siblings, especially Andy since she spent the most time with him. And Andy was starting to act like a proper, protective big brother, as you can tell. It was only a matter of time before he started to get overprotective, and Robert joined in with the protectiveness too.
"Anyway, I'm gonna go. I'll probably be all over the village, so text me if you want me home." Zoe said, putting her dirty bowl and spoon in the dishwasher, giving Andy a kiss on the cheek, before leaving the house. Not being able to afford a new phone for Zoe, Victoria gave her her old iPhone 5, which Zoe was thrilled about. She'd never had her own mobile phone before, and would not stop thanking Victoria up until the moment when Andy came and picked her up.
Zoe walked down the road of Emmerdale Village, the chilly March breeze making her slightly regretful as she didn't have a jacket on. She came across a small cafe and went in.
"We need more people, Brenda. It's not easy running a cafe with just the two of us." Zoe couldn't help but overhear a grey-haired man tell a woman with short whitish hair. Remembering what she'd said to Victoria yesterday about getting a job, she gingerly walked over to the counter.
"Hiya, love, I don't think I've seen you around here before." The man greeted her, and Zoe could already tell this village had a pretty closely-knit community.
"I haven't been around for long." Zoe replied.
"Well, I'm Bob and this is Brenda." He said, smiling warmly.
"Hello, love." Brenda greeted. Zoe have them a friendly smile.
"So, what can I get you?" Bob asked her.
"Um, actually, I heard you were looking for help and I was wondering, um, maybe... You'd consider hiring me?" Zoe asked cautiously. Bob and Brenda exchanged looks.
"I'd like to say yes, but we can't really afford to hire, no matter how much help we need." Bob said.
"I don't need a lot of money. I just want a bit of experience." Zoe told them.
"I like her." Brenda said, causing Zoe to smile.
"What's your name, love?" Bob asked the young girl.
"Zoe Sugden."
"Oh, are you related to Andy, Robert and Victoria?" Brenda asked her.
"Yeah, I am. I'm their sister, and I'm living with Andy at the moment." Zoe explained.
"How old are you?" Bob wondered.
"I'm fifteen." Zoe replied.
"Can you start tomorrow?"
"I can start whenever you want me to start." She smiled. Bob smiled back.
"Okay, congratulations. We'll see you tomorrow." He said.
"Really? Thank you! I won't let you down." Zoe said. She said goodbye to the two, before leaving the cafe with a smile on her face.
