Chapter 5

"Okay, ready?" Andy asked his fifteen year old sister as she walked down the last step of the staircase. He had work at the farm, and Victoria wanted to take Zoe out shopping, so he was dropping the teenager off at Victoria and Adam's place on his way to Butler's Farm.

"Yeah." She said half-heartedly. Andy frowned.

"You don't sound ready." He said matter-of-factly. Zoe sighed.

"I'm just kind of nervous. I'm not good with new people."

"You don't have to be afraid of Adam. He's a good guy. I reckon you'll like him." Andy assured her.

"But what if he doesn't like me?" She muttered.

"He'll love you." He told her. Zoe smiled slightly, before following her brother out the door. They got into his car and in a few minutes, they were at Keepers Cottage; Victoria and Adam's home. They got out of the car and Andy knocked on the door. Victoria answered seconds later.

"Zoe!" She grinned upon seeing her sister. She pulled her into a hug.

"Vic!" She giggled.

"I'll leave you girls to it, then." Andy smiled at his sisters.

"Bye Andy." They said in unison. Andy chuckled, before he got back in his car and headed to work.

"Come on in, I still need to do a bit of getting ready before we go out." Victoria said to Zoe, leading her into the cottage. They walked into the living room, where a guy lay on the sofa. He had dark hair and stubble.

"Zoe, this is my husband, Adam. Babe, this is my sister, Zoe." Victoria introduced.

"Hiya." Adam smiled.

"Hi." Zoe muttered shyly, practically hiding behind Victoria.

"Right, I need to finish getting ready. Won't be long." Victoria announced, leaving the room and leaving Zoe and Adam alone.

"Vic wouldn't stop talking about you last night." Adam told the shy teen.

"Really?" Zoe said. Adam nodded.

"She told me about how happy she is that she's found you, and how upset she was when your dad put you up for adoption. She also wouldn't stop talking about how excited she is about taking you out today." He explained. A smile found it's way onto Zoe's face. That was the nicest thing she'd ever heard anyone say about her.

"I'm really happy about finding Victoria, too. And Robert and Andy." Zoe said.

"Hey, Zoe." A familiar voice made Zoe jump slightly.

"Robert? What are you doing here?" She titled her head to the side, looking at her blonde brother.

"I live here. After me and my wife, Chrissie broke up, I didn't have anywhere to go, so Vic and Adam let me move in." Robert explained.

"Oh, sorry to here about you and your wife." Zoe said. Robert smiled at her consideration.

"Don't be. Some good things have happened because of it." He said. Zoe was slightly confused about what he meant by that, but smiled at how happy he seemed.

"Okay, I'm ready. Let's get going." Victoria said, walking in. She then saw her brother and smiled, "Morning, Rob."

"Morning. You taking Zoe shopping now?" He asked.

"Yep. We're going to have a great time." Victoria replied, grinning at her sister. Zoe smiled back.

"Text me when you're coming home, I'll come and pick you two up." Robert said.

"Okay. Ready to go, Zo?" She asked the young girl. Zoe nodded, smiling at the nickname Victoria gave her. Victoria gave Adam a kiss and said goodbye to Robert, while Zoe just said goodbye to the two men, before she and Victoria left.

They got the bus into town, and started wondering around. They went into New Look first.

"See anything you like?" Victoria asked.

"Um... Well, I kind of like this top, but it's quite expensive. I don't want you spending any money on me." Zoe replied. Victoria smiled and shook her head.

"Don't be silly, Zo. You need clothes and I'm more than happy to buy them for you." She said.

"Fine, but I'm going to get a job and pay you back." Zoe stated.

"You don't have to do that." Victoria said.

"Yes, I do. I want to get a job anyway, get some responsibility." She replied. Victoria smiled.

"You're literally the perfect little sister." She said, wrapping an arm around Zoe in a side hug.

"You're just saying that." Zoe giggled.

"No I'm not. Now, come on, let's shop 'til we drop." Victoria grinned. Zoe smiled back, following Victoria around the shops, looking for things to buy.

An hour later, the two sisters had been in probably every single shop they could find. Zoe had gotten tops, skirts, dresses, jeans, hoodies, cardigans, shoes, makeup, jewelry and loads of other things that she thought were too expensive, but Victoria insisted.

"Fancy something to eat?" Victoria asked.

"Sure, I just need somewhere to sit down. I actually thing my arms are about to fall off." Zoe replied. They were both carrying, like, ten bags each.

"Me too." Victoria giggled. They found a cute little cafe and went inside. They found a booth and put all their bags down. Victoria ordered a cappuccino and a flapjack, while Zoe ordered a hot chocolate and a cupcake. They got their food and drinks and talked about everything and nothing while they ate.

"I've had a really good time today." Zoe told her big sister, who smiled.

"Aw, so have I. We need to have days like this more often."  Victoria said.

"Definitely. But next time, I'm spending a fortune on you." Zoe said.

"Zoe, I honestly don't mind spending money on you or doing nice things for you. That's what big sisters are for." Victoria told her. Zoe smiled fondly.

They soon finished their treats and drinks and left the cafe. As Zoe walked out the door of the cafe, she accidentally bumped into someone who was entering the cafe.

"Sorry, are you okay?" A London accent asked. Zoe looked up to see a boy with brown eyes and brown hair. He looked like he was her age, maybe a year or two older. She had to admit, he was cute.

"Uh, yeah, I-I'm fine. It was my fault, anyway." She stuttered, bending down to pick up the bags she'd dropped.

"What's your name?" He asked curiously, bending down to help her.

"Zoe." She replied.

"Well, Zoe, I'm Bryson. And you have great taste in underwear." He smirked, handing her a pair of panties that had fallen out of a bag. The underwear was light pink and had white bunnies all over. Zoe turned bright red and snatched them out of his hands.

"Thanks." She mumbled. This embarrassment would haunt her forever.

"Don't worry, I have a pair of boxers with choo-choo trains all over them." Bryson whispered in her ear. Zoe giggled and found herself blushing again, but this time, it wasn't from embarrassment.

"I should go, my sister's waiting." Zoe told him, looking over at Victoria, who was watching the two teens in amusement. She took the bags from him with thanks, before running over to her sister.

"Who was that?" Victoria asked the teenage girl, a smirk on her face.

"I don't know, some boy named Bryson." Zoe shrugged.

"You like him, don't you?" She nudged her younger sister.

"No, I just met him!" Zoe quickly denied it, but Victoria saw right through her.

"Then why are you blushing?" Victoria asked, the smirk never leaving her face. Zoe covered her hands with her face in attempt to hide her pink cheeks and Victoria just laughed, "Come on, I texted Rob. He should be here to pick us up in a minute."
