Chapter Six: "You wish"

Friday is the day that mum only works up until 1pm which means she's always there when I get home after school. As soon as I step through the door "This is what you came for" blasts into my ears and I smile as I momentarily forget my annoyance at the whole dinner with Taylor predicament and watch my forty year old mother prancing round the kitchen.

Buttt my happy state only remains for about 4.6 seconds and it doesn't take me long to walk down the hallway to the kitchen and turn down the music.

"You invited the Summers round for dinner?" I ask, trying to keep my cool since mum wouldn't realise that I had any reason to be against her invitation.

"Yes, I thought it would be a nice thing to do as a welcome back to the city you know? It'll just be Tia and her eldest son - the younger ones have stayed with their dad back in the country. I've already made my renowned lasagne," she replies and I frown since lasagne is my favourite meal yet it's now going to ruined because I have to share it with a certain teenage boy.

"What time will they be coming?" I ask her and she tells me six-thirty. A quick glance at the clock hanging on the wall tells me that that gives me a whole two hours and thirty minutes to prepare myself for this horrible event.

***** 5:55pm*****

I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR.

I've been stood raking my eyes over the items in my wardrobe for at least twenty minutes (slight exaggeration, it's been five but twenty sounds way more dramatic) and I've gained no inspiration whatsoever. I texted Jax asking for his opinion but his illness has obviously killed him since there would be no other sufficient reason as to why he hasn't replied to my SOS call. At this rate I'm seriously considering wearing my Minnie Mouse pjs since at least they've got the cute factor going for them.

Am I supposed to go smart, or casual? And if casual, how casual? Because I doubt mum would appreciate me going down to dinner in a pair of trackies and a hoodie.

Maybe I should do something with my hair first, and that will give me inspiration...

I decided on French plaits since they managed to disguise how fluffy my hair has gotten from the rain today, and I kept my make up to a minimal. That left me only 15 minutes to finally choose an outfit since it took a long time - and a thorough search under my bed - to find the two hair bobbles I needed. Eventually I chose a navy tube skirt with a white vest top and navy cardigan to match with white pumps on my feet - I was rather proud at how successful my "smart-casual" look had turned out.

The doorbell rang a couple of minutes before half 6 and mum immediately called me downstairs so that we could greet our guests together.

The door opened to reveal a middle-aged woman dressed similarly to my mum with a bright smile on her face. Her skin was fairly tanned - just like Taylor's - and you could certainly tell that he had inherited her eyes.

"Diana it's so nice to see you, thank you ever so much for inviting us round," the woman asked stepping into the house and sharing a brief hug with my mum. She then turned to me.

"Oh my, Taylor was right - you are a stunner aren't you? You must be Sara - I'm Tia - it's lovely to meet you," she said, and it took me a while to respond after she had mentioned Taylor's description.

"You too," I smiled and hugged her back before stepping back as mum lead Tia to the kitchen.

My head turned to back to the open front door where a rather smug looking teenage guy stood leaning against the doorway. Dressed in black skinny jeans with just a white shirt on top Taylor managed to ooze bad boy vibes effortlessly.

"Do I get a hug too then? Or maybe a hello kiss? he asks me, his smug smirk wiped across his face.

I step closer to him, resting one hand on his forearm, and slowly lean in. I have to stand on tiptoes to even reach his chin but I have a clear view of his eyes widening at my actions. I continue to lean in until his eyes become fixated on my lips and there's basically a centimetre between us.

"You wish," I whisper and then retreat swiftly down the hallway to join the adults in the kitchen.

I was too busy congratulating myself at my rather sassy move to turn around and witness the stunned look on Mr Summers' face.

Oh my goodness it's been ages since I updated but life has just been so hectic recently with a lot of revision and school work to complete.

I'm so sorry for the late update but hopefully I will get back on track now.

Hope you enjoyed the chapter - I love reading your comments so please leave some!
