Chapter 33

Grace led Thunder into the Perdi farmhouse, where she was immediately greeted by hostile faces from the Perdi, including some familiar faces like Anaya, Thierry and Batina. Thunder was happy to see Batina alive again, but didn't dare show it.

"Grace, why did you bring this woman here?' Batina asked her practically adopted daughter and one of their primary protectors against Looker and the Sange.

"It's okay, she's not here to hurt us. This is Thunder, she works with Black Lightning." Grace said, since even out here, they knew about Black Lightning.

"I thought Black Lightning was dead?" another Perdi member, Thunder remembered his name was Joshua, said and Thunder had to stop herself from glaring at him, since she remembered how much damage he'd caused in the old reality, starting a war with the Sange just because Anaya had chosen one of them over him.

"He's alive and he's back in the game. Now that the ASA has been shut down, he and I are helping tie up loose ends, including Looker." Thunder said.

"You're trying to take down Looker?" Anaya asked hopefully.

"Yes. Black Lightning is heading into Sange territory now to look for her. I came here in the hopes that you might know something that can help us find her." Thunder said.

"And I want to help you do it." Grace said.

"Absolutely not. Black Lightning and Thunder can go after Looker if they want and I wish them the best of luck if they do, but they don't live under this roof Grace. You do and as long as you do, you will listen to me, since by now the Sange have to know that you're one of us and I will not risk starting a war with them, since it will wipe out the Perdi." Batina said.

"Because of their illegal weapons dealings?" Thunder asked.

"You know about that?" Anaya asked.

"Another reason we're taking them down with the support of the US government organization Argus, which while it serves the same function as the ASA, is run by someone with actual morals. We've already gotten their word that once the last of the ASA holdouts are wrapped up, they'll withdraw from Freeland unless the need for them to return comes." Thunder said, thinking of Markovia and wondering if they'd still attack since now America was home to Superman and Supergirl too.

"It's still way too risky." Batina said.

"Batina, the Sange aren't all bad. A lot of them don't really want war with us, it's Looker controlling them through whatever it is she's putting in them to control them. I think that if she's taken out, we might have a shot at peace with the Sange." Grace said.

"Mom, it's worth the risk. Besides, it's not like the Sange know what Grace can do or else Looker likely would've come for her, since she's an obvious threat to her." Anaya said, wanting to end this fight.

"And while I appreciate everything you've done for me, I'm tired of hiding. I want my life back." Grace said and Batina looked at her husband, who nodded, since Anaya had been communicating everything to him through sign language.

"Fine, but only Grace will go and Thunder, you are responsible for her. Grace is Perdi, you're not and you'll be held accountable if anything happens to her." Batina said.

"I swear on my life that I won't let anything happen to her." Thunder said, meaning that completely.

"Good, because if something happens to her, well, it would be best for you to never come back here for your safety. And don't come back until Looker is no longer a threat. I won't risk my people being drawn into a war." Batina said and Thunder nodded.

"Trust me, I'm not coming back until Looker is in custody. But once she's down, maybe you should consider trying to make peace with the Sange. After all, I'm sure not all of them are that bad." Thunder said.

"Maybe." Batina said, but she didn't look convinced.
