Miara's POV 

As fast as Eleckra was Sabas was faster. He burst out of nowhere and snatched the dagger from her hand. The rest of us where still in schock, Eleckra and I were still chanting as it had become instinct, and Sabas took the dagger into his own heart. Watching him die as his lifeblood seeped into the stones he had fallen on is something I will never forget.

We floated there,  Tempeste included, dumbstruck. All of a sudden golden glowing symbols begun to glow in the water. We'd done it! Two first year apprentices had successfully invoked the ancient wards to banish Tempeste from Aquata. "What have you done!" Roared Tempeste when he recovered from his shock." All these years of work-" He never got to finish his sentence , as he was pulled by an invisible force out of our home waters back into the murky depths beyond Aquata, where he belongs.

"What are we going to do with poor Sabas?" Kenrita asked. It was Marco, who had been in a silent grim stupor, by answering

" Bring our dolphins, we'll take him to The Winds for a proper funeral. He died a hero." We all modded solemnly. He'd saved us all.

We quickly retrieved our dolphins and belongings from a ruined Zephrylle. Tempeste's lieutenants, the Kefusa,  had gone on a rampage after we had banished their master. They had almost completely destroyed the town, bar the palace, and likely its inhabitants in their wrath. We were too numb to process what had happened. Everyone was gone. All except one.

We found Jocasta crying on her doorstep outside her room in the palace." Where-where is he?" She sobbed.

" He sacrificed himself to seal the spell to banish Tempeste. He died a hero." Eleckra said soothingly. "It's all my fault, I made him come here. I told him we could start anew, that we'd be happy and together. Then when we got here the mind control made me so confused I forgot all about him. I knew something wasn't quite right but I was helpless against his spell. I should have been with him I could have-" I interrupted her,

"This is not your fault, some people fall under another's spell more easily than others. I know the only reason I wasn't like you was  ecause of Eleckra's ability to see past illusions." 

"Remember, he died to save Aquata. Do not tarnish his memory by bemoaning what could have been. Let's go give him the funeral he deserves." Marco said with a wisdom beyond his years. 

You thought I would actually kill my second favorite character?  I did consider killing Marco, though. Consider yourselves lucky.
