I'll start from Ben.

Ben's eyes shot open in realisation of the day, the day he gets a scroll.

He showered and wore his clothes then came out of the huge mansion without greeting his parents or even saying 'I'm off'. To his surprise he met Ash, his teammate.

"What are you doing here?" He asked.

"Is that how you greet someone? Well I was waiting for you." Ash answered the boy.

"How did you find me?" Ben asked.

"Everyone knows the Riamul family's homestead, let's go." Ash answered as she turned towards the gate before sprinting off causing Ben to follow.

Barry left Beryl and Luke behind and ran to school. It was evident that he was excited and eager to get a scroll.

"Barry wait!" Beryl yelled as she tried her best to catch up but she wasn't as fast as him.

Barry got to the academy and saw squad ten, the only squad with two people, sitting outside. "Why are you sitting outside?" He asked the two.

"Try opening the gate, you fool." If Barry heard the insult in Ben's snarky remark, he ignored it and shrugged instead.

"Ok." He sat on a rock and waited for whosoever always open the gate, bringing out a novel to read and pass time.

"Oh a novel! What's the title?" Ash asked as she moved towards Barry.

"The guardians." Barry answered trying to look cool.

"Hmm. What's the synopsis?" Ash stood beside Barry, peeping inside the book.

"It's about six magical realms facing the threat of their lives so they chose six magical guardians to protect the kingdoms. From the synopsis you will think it's cliche but as you read you'll like it." Barry explained.

"Hmm, can you borrow me the book?" Ash asked with cute puppy eyes which made Barry laugh. "Why are you laughing?" She huffed indignantly.

"Nothing, you can have it." Barry shook his head and gave her the book.

"Thank you." Ash collected the book and went to show Ben. Luke materialized beside Barry and greeted Ben.

"Hey Ben."

"Hey." Ben responded which surprised Luke.

"By the way who's that?" Luke asked.

"This is Ash my teammate." Ben introduced his teammate.

"Where's Beryl?" Barry asked as he scanned the area for his red haired and blue eyed sister.

Almost as soon as he asked the question, a black bike pulled in front of them in a cloud of dust. The lot of them coughed and squinted their eyes to see who the rider was. Beryl came down from the bike much to their astonishment.

"Beryl, who's that?"  Luke pointed at the rider of the bike who pulled off his helmet. It turned out to be tutor Lloel.

"Good morning tutor Lloel." All of them greeted.

"Good morning, you're here early."

"Early bird gets the worm." Ash said as she made an excuse for their being early but tutor Lloel saw their excitement and eagerness to get a scroll.

"Oh well." Tutor Lloel drove to the parking lot and came back to the gate. Making a key out of crystal, he put it in the lock which recognized tutor Lloel's kekai and opened.

The five students filed into the academy and went to their class while tutor Lloel went to the staff building.

Thirty minutes later other students started coming in and soon enough the class was full.

"Hello everyone." John greeted them as he took a seat.

Barry wanted to ask his cookie loving friend for his blond haired twin but he assumed that if the cookie lover is here then the smoothie lover will be nearby. Barry's assumption was proven correct when the twin of the cookie lover sauntered inside the classroom with a cup of smoothie in her hand. With a short wave to her friends, she took her seat beside her twin brother.

After a while of waiting, tutor Lloel came inside the class then silenced them. "Quiet!"

"Stand up. Greet." Ash said raising her voice. Luke was surprised at the fact that Ash was the class rep and he didn't recognize her.

"Ok class are you ready?" Tutor Lloel asked the students who got the message at once.

"Yes!" The class yelled in excitement

Tutor Lloel covered his ears because of their yell.

"Ok go to that shelf and take ONE SCROLL!" Tutor Lloel yelled that last part so that they would hear him clearly.

"But sir I'm a Nomashi." Erza informed the scarred man.

"I am fully aware but take one scroll." He instructed her. After the students had taken their scrolls tutor Lloel gave them a sad look. "Crystal control; crystal prison." Tutor Lloel coated the wall of the class with crystal and put the children in respective crystal cells.

"Tutor Lloel, why the cells?" Peter questioned as he tried to break the crystal.

"In ten seconds." Tutor Lloel told them which left the students confused but at the same time excited.

"What? Ten seconds has pass-" One of the students started but suddenly stopped.

The whole class started screaming in pain and agony. It felt as if a crazy doctor performed surgery on them without giving them any pain killers before removing their organs.

It was worse for Erza and Ben because they are from special scroll using families.

Weapons flew around in some students prisons, some students turned to beasts and elements flew around in some prisons. After an hour the pain subsided.

Some of the students fell while some we're leaning on the crystal wall. The strong ones managed to stand.

"That's not all." Tutor Lloel informed them.

The students eyes widened as they heard tutor Lloel's words. The pain hit them again, but this time it was worse. Their skin peeled off revealing their inners and they felt a painful sting as green kekai poured over them. Ben had already passed out because it was red kekai that covered his body. After that their skin fixed itself.

"It's still not over, this is the last wave but it is the worst." Tutor Lloel warned them of the pain to come.

Barry stood still for a second then gripped his chest hard and collapsed in pain. This time it was worse than the first and second phase, it felt as if their heart was being squished. He fell unconscious.

The torture lasted for three hours, one hour for each phase but it wasn't so for Erza and Tome.

After three more hours Erza stopped shouting which meant the pain was over for her but Lyn kept on shouting which made tutor Lloel worry.

'Finn what's wrong with her?' The worried teacher asked his scroll spirit.

'Rugun, It's her scroll, it is splitting into two halves of beast and weapon scrolls so the kekai is crashing.' Finn answered him.

'She'll die! Finn call Anita' Tutor Lloel panicked and paced round the class until tutor Anita came.

"Where is she?" Tutor Annie asked her co teacher who pointed to a now floating Lyn.

"Ok open the cell." Tutor Lloel did as commanded then tutor Annie entered Lyn's cell.

She shoved a leaf of sage down Lyn's throat, after the sage went down she stopped floating and her wounds were healed.

After taking note of that, tutor Anita used a nikirim to calm Lyn down.

"Scroll art; blade nikirim."

Some inscriptions appeared around Lyn's body and formed a sharp blade which cut through her. She fell into tutor Annie's arms.

"We have a half scroll. Inform Rex." Tutor Anita told her co teacher.

"Ok. Please take care of them." Tutor Lloel ran out of the class and made his report.

Several hours later Erza opened her eyes and stood up quickly but fell back down in pain.

"Take, drink this, it's a painkiller." Tutor Lloel gave her a cup of green liquid.

Without thinking twice Erza took the cup and downed its content. Immediately after she drank it the pain went away.

"Congrats you're a scroll user. Sorry for the pain, but you didn't meet Anita so it is well deserved." Tutor Lloel congratulated her.

Erza turned to see four scrolls lying beside her and picked them up. She was about to use kekai and tutor Lloel knew what she wanted to do so he decide to warn her.

"If you use kekai, you'll just commit suicide." Tutor Lloel warned. On hearing that the red eyed girl dropped the scrolls in her bag and sat up.

Ben woke up and picked his scroll.

"No no darling, I'll not use kekai if I were you." Ash warned Ben, the latter stared for a second or two then the pain hit him.

"Hold on." Ash made a bunch of vines to bring a cup of pain killer.

"How?" Ben asked totally surprised that she could use plant control this early.

"Just drink." Ash gave him the cup and he drank. As expected he started feeling better.

After a while all the students woke up and painkillers were given to them.

"Congrats you're official scroll users." Tutor Lloel congratulated the students.

'Gosh, if I knew it would be this painful I would have stayed at home.' Barry thought to himself but was answered by Dan.

'If you did that you'll probably still be yelling in pain.' Dan replied his scroll user.

'Ok, that seems reassuring.' Barry sweat dropped internally

'Honestly I'm surprised that you are alive, but don't try and use kekai because I haven't made enough.' Dan told Barry who didn't know weather to take that as a complement or an advice.

"Take tomorrow off and next tomorrow come next tomorrow." Tutor Lloel's voice cut Barry out of the link.

A woman stood up from her seat and moved towards her crying baby and picked up."Don't cry my baby." She shushed her baby then gave her milk.

After drinking the milk the baby slept then her mother began to pat her head.

"My beautiful daughter, I'll name you Lyn it is a beautiful name. You'll be a smart and knowledgeable girl." The woman said, still patting her head after a while she dropped the baby in her cot.

Lyn's eyes shot open and she sat up but the pain made her lie down back. She began to think about her dream.

"She's awake." Lyn heard Joan's voice say so she looked around and saw her squad seating around her hospital bed.

"Drink this, it's a painkiller." Erza said as she as she helped Lyn sit up.

"Thanks." Lyn drank the painkiller and looked around for a while then she remembered her scroll.

"Where's my scroll?" Lyn asked as she looked around.

"Please leave, I want to discuss something with Tome." Tutor Anita said while walking to Lyn's bed.

The others left and tutor Anita and the green eyed girl alone but they were so curious on what tutor Anita wanted to tell their teammate so they decided to eavesdrop.

"I'll be taking my leave." They all ran to different places when they heard tutor Anita say that.

The closing bells rang so the squad gave their hospitalised teammate their well wishes and went home.

When Barry and his siblings got home they saw Sama waiting for them.

When Sama saw them she walked up to them. "Hello kids." She welcomed them.

"Hello mother." They greeted back and went inside.

After they got inside Sama made a cup of tea for herself and sat down on the comfy chair

"Painful right?" Sama asked the children.

'What could she possibly be... oh' Barry eyes widen in realisation of what she was talking about, the scroll gaining progress.

"Yeah it was extremely painful." Luke answered knowing what his adoptive mother was talking about.

"But thanks to that, we're taking tomorrow off." Beryl said with a giggle as she pictured her self having a nice long rest.

"I wonder what my powers will be." Barry voice his thought, it was obvious he was excited. "Well, I'll be contented with whatever power I get." He said indifferently.

Their conversation dragged on for hours and the once bright and clear sky had been replaced by a cloudy sky stained with orange hue.

A yawn escaped Beryl mouth, sleep was coming.  Said girl stood up and went to her room after saying a good night.

Sama knew why Beryl went to bed early and had decided that it was best if Barry and Luke went to bed too. 

"Go to bed, you'll need it." No sooner than Sama said those words they went straight to bed after a bath.

"They're not awake hun?" Dave asked as he walked towards his wife.

"No it'll probably take more time, you should have had first hand experience right." Sama answered then planted a peck on her husbands cheek and continued making breakfast.

Sugar cookies and a her three leveled drink consisting of chocolate at the bottom cream in the middle and milk on top.

"The old time classic, Sama?" Dave asked her.

"Of course."

Later in the afternoon the three had already woken up from their deep slumber.

"How long was I asleep for?" Luke asked Barry.

"I don't know, it's not like I keep a timer with me or something." Barry answered his brother then an argument started while his sister just sat to watch then she realised something.

"Aren't we too energetic for people who just woke up from a twenty hour slumber?"

"Now that you mention it." Barry began to reason. "How did you know we slept for twenty hours?"

Everybody blanched at Barry's stupidity.

"Because unlike boys girls actually check time?" Beryl deadpanned.

"Hey don't lump me in with him!" Luke yelled at his sister

"Why? It's not like you checked time, did you?" Beryl retorted.

Luke opened his mouth to talk but was short of words.

"You see, boys are boys." Beryl was totally winning Luke so he decided to change the topic.

"So where is mum and dad?" Luke asked in an attempt to change the topic.

"Here." Barry held out a letter and began to read its contents. "Gone out busy back soon."

"It's a telegram, but it means we're free." Luke stated the obvious.

"Cool, let's take a stroll." Barry started walking around the huge house, the others followed suit.

They spent the rest of their free time strolling around until their foster parents came home.
