Chapter Two
- Two broken hearts make one -
2017
Scarlett stood in front of her mother's room, gazing around the emptiness. The place she was raised, the place she would run to when she had a bad dream and snuggled up to her mother just to fall asleep again. The place where her mother would brush her hair, nice and flat, for a day of school. She sighed, her long black hair falling in front of her pale gray face.
"Scarlett! Time to go!" Her father called from the front door. His voice rang through the house, snapping Scarlett out of her trance. She walked over to the front door, grabbing her bag from the dining room table. She walked out the front door, seeing the large, yellow bus waiting for her. She sat down on the gray leathery seat and looked out the window at her father, her red eyes looking at the house once more before the bus pulled away.
-Later-
Scarlett felt herself being pushed forward and onto the paved ground. Her bag fell, leading to her books flying out of it. She looked back. "Hey garlic." A girl with long, red twin drills sneered at Scarlett. Her freckled nose crinkled. "Might want to pick up your stuff before you..." she paused, kicking her books away before Scarlett could grasp them. "Lose them." She said with a mocking tone. Her corkscrew hair bounced with each of her high steps. Scarlet sat up, dusting off her desaturated outfit as she watched the girls retreating figure with futile displeasure.
"Hey, do you want some help?" Scarlett tilted her livid face to see a lanky, hazel eyed boy standing there, his bag slung over his two shoulders limply as his light brown hair swayed high above it. His stoic expression took her a bit by surprise, but held his gaunt arm out. Scarlet reached out, her hand intertwined with his as she suddenly felt light, her body lifted off the ground by the other student.
"Thank you." Scarlett ducked her head, then looking back at the brown-haired student with her own roseate oculus. "I'm Scarlett." She bent down and pulled her books back into her pack, waiting for the man to answer.
"I'm Liam." The Brown-haired student smiled lightly as the bell echoed outside of the school, causing students to swarm into the school.
