Chapter 4
"Hey! Oscar, Morris! Get over here!" Wiesel shouted. The two boys ran over.
"Whatcha need Wiesel?" Oscar asked.
"I need you two to go gather up as many newsies that AREN'T striking as you can."
"And then what?"
"Give them a few extra cents and send them inside the gate."
"But the newsies are guarding the gate."
"Well then you better let them get through!" Wiesel shouted. "Now go!"

It didn't take long for David to notice the two tall guys walking straight towards him. He nervously began to turn around, but not before the blonde one grabbed him by the shoulder. Davey jumped.
"Sorry, pal. Didn't mean to frighten you. We were just wondering if you'd like to sell some papers today. We'll give you some extra money." the blonde one said.
"Uh, yeah! That'd be good! But, if those newsies are guarding the gate, shouldn't we get more people-"
"Well, that's what we've been planning on doing kid. I'm Oscar, this is my brother Morris."
"Hello! I'm Les, and this is my brother, David!" Les popped up from behind David's back.
"Oh, hey there, kiddo." Morris tried his best to smile at the boy.
"Let's go. Do you know of anymore people who might be of help?" Oscar asked as they began walking.
"No, I've been trying to find someone all morning!"
"Ah, that's a shame. Guess we'll just have to look a little harder. Wiesel posted a sign for help, so he might be able to get a few recruits." Oscar said.
"Well, let's go on a manhunt." Morris chuckled.

"Hey, I think I see someone." David said quietly.
"HEY YOU. COME HERE." Oscar shouted to the boy who was walking down the other side of the street. He stared at them oddly, but walked forward.
"Yes?"
"Are you looking for some work?"
"Yes, I am. But I don't want help from the Delancey Brothers." Otto said snidely.
"I'm afraid we're your only option. And hey, we can pay you an extra sum for your help. Sound good?" Oscar said.
"Fine. But how are we gonna get inside?"
"Easy. If they don't let us in, we'll fight our way in." Morris grinned.
"I'm kinda hoping they won't go down easy." Oscar smiled at his brother.
David cringed. He didn't want to get on their bad side, that was for sure.

William and Martha walked out of Jacobi's, being partially satisfied with their glass of water. William still hadn't found any work, and he was getting real nervous. He was lost in his own thoughts when he realized Martha had let go of his hand. He jumped back into reality. Martha was nowhere in sight.
"Martha! Martha!" he shouted, dashing down the street.
"What is it Will?" Martha yelled.
"Where are you?"
"I'm with my friend Les!"
"Where is Les!"
"Over here!"
William sighed and followed her voice. He found her standing in an alley with Les. And four other boys. Big boys. Well, two of them were big boys.
"Woah, Martha. Who are these people?"
"Well, that one is Les' brother. And I don't know about the other two. They seem nice." Martha smiled.
William shook his head, chuckling. "You're a silly girl." He looked up and lifted his hand for the boys to shake. "I'm Will. That's my sister, Martha. In case you hadn't figured it out yet."
The tall one took his hand first. "I'm David. That's my brother Les. Then there's Morris and Oscar, and Otto. Nice to meet you."
"You too. Do any of you chaps know where I could find some work?" William asked.
"Why, yes we do! The newspaper of course! We need newsboys."
"But, I thought the newsies were on stri-"
"They are. Doesn't mean we can't get in! Hey, we'll even give you some extra money if you help us."
William thought for a moment, then nodded. "Sounds good to me!"
"Wonderful." Morris smiled.
