Chapter 21
*(Y/N) P.O.V.*
I quickly ate the food on the tray it was bland but it was way better than what they had given me in the dungeons. I had just finished when a super loud bell went off causing me to jump slightly. The people around me noticed and whispered to each other trying to stifle their laughter. People began to get up and head out of the cafeteria. It reminds me a lot of lunch at school. I heard Noah say his goodbyes to the people I assumed were his friends. I noticed no one had taken their trays with them so I assumed I was supposed to leave mine on the table.
Noah got up and motioned for me to do the same. Then he started walking towards the door that we had came in through. I followed him attempting not to lose him in the huge crowd of people. I was still getting weird looks but whatever. I followed Noah back into those super long hallways. He turned left going further away from where my room was. After walking further down the hallway he finally turned right towards one of the many spaced out doors. I quickly opened the room and I noticed we weren't the only ones here. There was several other people here. It was just an empty room with weapons lining the wall. The other people were fighting in pairs of 2 wearing the same uniform that I was wearing.
I quickly noticed there was someone in an all black uniform walking around and watching people fight. I saw him stop a pair that was fighting and correct something before walking away. I felt Noah tap me on the shoulder and hand me a stone sword. It was a bit heavier than what I was used to but I would have to adjust. I heard Noah talk to me for the first time today. " We're supposed to fight, the person wearing black will correct stuff you do wrong and there's a respawn system so don't worry about getting hurt." he said. I gave a slight nod to show I understand.
Suddenly without any warning he lunged at me I barely reacted in time and stepped to the right and quickly tried to stab him in the side but he turned to face me and blocked before trying to slash my stomach I quickly blocked and kneed him in the gut. He must've underestimated me since I was only 8 because he bent over and before he could react and get back up to dodge I brought the sword down on his head. I saw his body disappear and just then I noticed everyone in the room was watching. I saw a couple of people nod slightly in what I could only assume to be approval before turning back to their opponent and continuing to fight.
The person in the black uniform walked over to me just as Noah joined me again. "You're pretty good but you need to work some more on your technique" he then adjusted my hand so I was holding the sword properly and showed me how to attack properly so I could quickly recover and strike again. He then turned to Noah who was looking down at his sword in what seemed to be embarrassment. "And you need to learn not to underestimate your opponent" he said before walking away.
Noah turned towards me again this time I struck first trying to slash his side with my sword. He turned away narrowly dodging the blade before trying to strike my stomach which I blocked. It continued to go on this way for a while strike, block, strike, block until Noah kicked my feet out from under me. I quickly rolled away but he managed to cut my stomach. I continued on attempting to finish him off before he could beat me. Unfortunately as the wound continued to bleed blood I felt my self grow more tired with each move and eventually he managed to strike my head before I could block.
It felt as though the world fell away from me and it felt as though I was weightless. Everything was white then suddenly I felt the weight come back and I opened my eyes to find myself in a small room. I felt refreshed and energized again. I walked out the doorway to find myself back into the same training room as before. I quickly walked back to Noah and began to fight him again. This was going to be a long day.
It was odd, I had expected the training session to drag on forever but it instead felt short and I realized I was enjoying myself as I continued to practice fighting. I felt guilty for how I felt, knowing I was currently training with the enemy but I couldn't help myself. It was exciting and I could feel the adrenaline rushing through me as we continued to train. I felt like I was learning way more in a day than what I had learned in the several months I had trained in swords back home. The morning flew by and before I knew it another bell rang. Noah and I stopped fighting and I followed Noah over to a wall filled with nothing but swords. He put his sword up on the rack and I quickly put mine up on an empty spot.
I followed Noah down the long hallways back into the cafeteria from earlier today. Once again we got in line and once I got to the front I once again noticed there were still no differences in between the trays of food. Noah sat down in the same place he had this morning. I looked around my surroundings a bit more Noah was to my right sitting with his friends. It seemed like they were playfully making fun of him, probably because I beat him earlier today. On my left there were some girls they didn't seem way too much older than me but I'd say they're about 15.
I turned back to my food and began to eat. It was still bland but it could definitely be worse. Once I was finished I had nothing to do so I sat there and looked around a bit more. Suddenly I felt someone tap my shoulder. I quickly turned towards the person it was the girl sitting on my left. "Hi, um I was wondering if it's true you managed to beat Noah earlier" she asked. I gave a slight nod, too shy to respond.
"That's awesome! The only other person that's been able to beat him was his own father before you came along" she said smiling.
"Thanks" I said quietly still shy.
"Oh! I forgot to tell you our names I'm Liz, this is Jessica" she said motioning towards the person across from her
"Hi you can call me Jess" she said waving slightly.
"And this is Melody" Liz finished motioning towards the person across from me
"You can call me Mel" she said slightly glaring at Liz. I smiled slightly.
"What's your name?" Jess asked.
"(Y/N)" I said quietly. They started talking with me for the rest of lunch and before I knew it lunch was over.
"Bye we'll see you at dinner" Mel said smiling. I smiled a bit and nodded. I stood up and followed Noah back towards where the training room was. Suddenly I stopped smiling 'I shouldn't be friends with them they're the enemy I need to get out of here as soon as possible' It was like my mind was having an internal battle. I was snapped out of my thoughts when we arrived back at the training room but when we headed inside Noah went strait to the back and into another room, I followed him.
There were some chairs and a decently sized area where the guy in the black uniform is. Noah took a seat at the front motioning for me to take the seat next to him. Then another guy in black walked in joining the first. Once everyone else was here they began to teach. It was like school but they focused on Pvp. Today they were teaching about technique and they would demonstrate as they went along. As they continued teachers I realized that the one who had been there in the morning was to be called Trainer Bryce and the Second one who had joined in for demonstration was Trainer Pete. They continued on showing us different techniques before leading us back into where we had trained earlier today and having us practice each technique with our opponent, I was once again training with Noah.
After a lot more training, teaching and correcting another bell went off. As before we put away our weapons and headed back to the cafeteria. Once we got our food we sat down in the same place as before this time I was able to talk with Liz, Jess and Mel. Once dinner was over I followed Noah back down the hallways to where my room was. I noticed no one else went this way, everyone else had gone to the left. Once we got back Noah dropped me off in my room and I heard him close the door and lock it. I layed down on the bed tired from the day. I felt guilty I shouldn't be making friends here but I never had any friends back home I didn't go to public school and was instead homeschooled because I didn't fit in with the other students. I trained with the guys and was homeschooled by a different teacher almost every day. They were the only people I would see. I wasn't sure how to feel about this. I dismissed these thoughts from my mind deciding I need to get some sleep and slipped under the covers and quickly fell into a deep sleep.
