Chapter 15
*(Y/N) P.O.V.*
I woke up at seven in the morning, according to Amber school doesn't start until eight thirty in the morning so I figured an hour to get ready would be fine. I took a shower before getting dressed in my uniform then proceeded to do other bathroom stuff before exiting the bathroom. Checking the clock I realized I only had another thirty minutes before Amber and I needed to start heading towards the school. So I quickly rushed downstairs, bursting with anticipation.
My brother had always talked about his friends and the fun they had at school, from time to time he would even stay at his friends' house for the night. It had always sounded like a blast, hopefully I'll be able to make some friends too. Breakfast passed by in a breeze and before I knew it Amber came by to get me for school. She was carrying my backpack which Ashley had packed with school supplies.
"Come on (Y/N) we got to go" Amber said. I nodded before getting up and heading over to her. She guided me out of the castle and down the same route as last time. It was busier than last time, despite the fact that it was earlier. As Amber rushed me towards the school I noticed there were a lot of kids scattered about the town wearing the same uniform as I was.
When we arrived it was eight fifteen, the outside of the school was busy this time. There were tons of kids dressed like me and a bunch of adults saying goodbye to their kids before leaving. Closer to the building I noticed some more adults sitting at three separate tables with signs with letters on them. There were three adults total sitting down the first table read A-I, the second read J-Q and the third read R-Z.
Amber guided me towards the table that read A-I and got into line with me. "You're under Adam's last name for now so we're going to check you in here" Amber said plainly. I just nodded, taking in the sight around me. I had never seen so many kids my age in one place before. Unfortunately I noticed Amber and I were getting a lot of stares as we waited. Then again Amber is in a guards outfit and has a sword on her so I guess it makes sense that she's getting so much attention. Turning back to Amber she didn't even seem to notice all the people looking at her, that or she's just really good at ignoring them.
Eventually we made it to the front of the line and the lady asked Amber for a last name. "Dahlberg" Amber replied shortly. The lady flipped through a pile of pages before stopping on one and pulling it out.
"Here you go, just follow the information shown and you should find where you need to go" The lady said handing Amber the paper.
"Thanks" Amber said with a slight grin before leading me inside the building. There were still a lot of kids inside as well as parents. Amber guided me through the crowd before stopping in front of a doorway. "This should be it" Amber muttered to herself before opening the door.
Inside there were tons of desks lined up in rows, in the front there was another large desk covered with papers and next to it at the front of the classroom was a blackboard. Next to the door there were a few small cubby on the wall that had hooks hanging down next to them. On each cubby there was a name listed on it. There were already a few other kids in here as well as another lady who I guess is the teacher. Unlike the rest of the school there were no parents here.
Amber hung up my bag on a hook below the cubby labeled '(Y/N)' and helped me find my seat which was also labeled. Amber then sat down in a seat in the back corner of the classroom. After a few more minutes the bell rung and more students piled into the room. The first thing I noticed was that a lot of the students here would a decent bit taller than me. Not taller than the adults, not even close actually but compared to me they were very tall.
The teacher in the front got up from her desk before standing in front of the class "Hello class, my name is Mrs. Reiad but you can call me Mrs. R" She began "Welcome to third grade! Today we're going to spend some time getting to know each other but first I need to do role call. When I call your name please raise your hand and say here" She instructed. "Alright Jessica Aiesta?" The teacher called.
"Here" A girl with curly brown hair called.
"Alright, Mike Bive?" She called and continued. A few names later she called my name. "(Y/N) Dahlberg?"
"Here" I called raising my hand as the others had done. A few students turned back to look at me, I pretended I didn't notice though. Eventually she finished role call.
Once role call was over we began to play some games to get to know each other. The games were decently fun and some of the kids began to talk with me. Unfortunately they only talked to me briefly and then proceeded to talk to their own group of friends once more. After what seemed like forever the bell rang and Mrs. R had us line up next to the door. She instructed us to be quiet in the halls and led us down multiple hallways until we reached the cafeteria.
The room was filled with long tables and benches as well as two lunch lines to get food. Once we arrived I felt someone tap me on the shoulder, turning around it was Amber. "Here's your lunch" She said with a smile, holding out a bag. I grabbed it and sat down at an empty table. Inside the bag was a sandwich, an apple, a water bottle and best of all a chocolate chip cookie. I ate my lunch quietly, a few other kids ate at my table but they chatted amongst themselves and didn't bother to talk to me.
I didn't want them to think I was eavesdropping so I ignored them. Once I was finished I threw away my trash and headed outside the doors that led outside. There was a huge playground and tons of kids were already playing with each other. All of them were laughing and smiling, cracking jokes with each other. I noticed that there was an empty swing set near the corner of the playground and headed there. No one else came over to talk to me though. They were all enjoying their games on the rest of the playground.
I stayed there for a while watching the other kids have fun as I continued to swing, suddenly I heard a cry. Looking over in the direction of the sound I noticed a girl about my age crying on the ground holding her ankle. Her friends quickly surrounded her and a teacher rushed over. I wasn't too far away so I could hear the conversation "What hurts hun" The teacher asked the girl.
The girl continued to cry and eventually responded "My Ankle". The teacher took a look at her ankle and I noticed that Amber was walking over to the girl as well.
"Well its definitely broken you'll need to go see a doctor" The teacher responded.
Amber finally arrived at the scene and turned to the teacher "She doesn't need to go to the doctor" She said then turned to me "(Y/N) come over here please" She called. I got off the swings and went over to Amber, I could feel the eyes of the other kids staring me down as I walked. Once I arrived Amber asked me "Can you heal her ankle please, its broken" Amber said. I just nodded, nervous since all these other kids were watching me.
I placed my hands over her ankle and used my magic to heal it. A light pink aura surrounded my hands and when I removed them her ankle was back to normal. I stood up and noticed all the kids were staring at me. Just then the bell rang. The teacher checked her ankle again only to find it was healed.
"Thank you" The teacher said. I just nodded unsure of what to respond and headed over to the line for Mrs. R's class. For the rest of the day the other kids kept their distance from me. If I went too close to a group or I just passed by one they'd stop talking about whatever they had been discussing and would begin to whisper so I wouldn't hear what they said.
By the time I got home I was sure of one thing. I. HATE. SCHOOL
