a normal day

Pattie got back at 3 and told Justin that they would be going to the mall together because she needed new clothes for the both of them. Justin always wore the same hoodies with the same black or blue ripped jeans.

"C-can C-Camila come?" He asked making my eyes widen in surprise. What would Pattie say?

"You want her to come?" She asked.

He rapidly nodded before sending me a smile as I picked up my bag from the couch.

"Would you like to join us Camila?" Pattie asked.

"Sure, if that's okay with you," I softly spoke.

"It's fine," she sourly said. I was still a little surprised because after seeing Pattie's recent behavior towards me, I noticed she started disliking me.

Justin smiled and clapped as he rocked back and forth. We got in the car and Pattie drove to the mall.

Maybe we shouldn't be going to the mall, it's really loud. I wanted to say something but I didn't want Pattie to hate me more.

We left the car and walked through the parking garage until we got to the entrance.

As we walked inside, the sound of people talking, cellphones ringing, and music playing hit my ears making me look over at Justin. It was overwhelming even for me, I couldn't imagine how Justin was feeling right about now. He slowed down and Pattie grabbed his hand to make him keep up. When he started looking around his breathing changed, getting heavier and heavier.

Pattie seemed to notice but she didn't do anything about it, she just continued walking. Justin clutched on tighter to her arm, pulling on her as he started rocking back and forth. He sounded out of breath and soon he stopped walking and looked at the floor.

A few feet away was a play area with lots of kids screaming and I could tell that's what did it for him.

"Justin?" Pattie asked.

"No!" Justin yelled letting go of her and abruptly placing his hands over his ears.

I looked around, looking for a quiet store to go into. A few stores down was a Barnes and Noble, quiet enough for him to calm down.

"N-no, no, no," he repeated as he bent forward almost falling on the floor.

I took a hold of his arm and said, "Come on we have to get to Barnes and Noble."

"N-no, n-no, m-make it stop!"

"Justin calm down," Pattie said.

That's obviously not helping.

I pulled him with me having to use all my strength to make him walk. Once we entered the bookstore I sat him down in a chair and sat down next to him.

"It's okay," I whispered, "it's getting better now."

I took a hold of his arm and removed it from his ear. He noticed the change in sounds around him and he opened his eyes, looking at his lap.

"You're okay," I said, "just breathe."

I took deep breaths in with him before letting them out. He took my hand from my lap and held it tightly.

There was just too much for him to hear and see, his brain had taken in too much information and he had become overwhelmed.

"Maybe we'll wait for you here," I said looking up at Pattie who seemed to be in shock.

(A/n: when I was rereading this for any typos I skipped over the "in" and read "shook" lmao)

She gave me a small nod, "Thanks."

I nodded back before looking at Justin again. His breathing had relaxed a bit and his grip on my hand wasn't as strong anymore.

I rubbed the side of his hand with my thumb, blowing air onto his hair to dry up the sweat on his forehead.

"I'll be right back okay?" Pattie said to him, kissing his forehead.

He didn't reply but as soon as she left he looked up at me with bloodshot red eyes. I gave him a tender smile and he looked back down.

"I-I-I s-so-sorry," he said.

"There's nothing to be sorry about," I said stroking the top of his hand again.

After a couple of minutes he rested his head on my shoulder and we sat in silence.

"Would you like me to read something to you?" I asked.

He gave me a nod and I stood up, looking for a book on the nearest shelf. I pulled it out and walked back over to him opeinginf the first page before beginning to read.

Thirty minutes later

Pattie came back soon enough and we got ready to leave. I pulled my headphones out of my purse and placed them in Justin's ears playing a soft song so that the loudness of the mall wouldn't overwhelm him again. He stared into my eyes as I fixed the headphones in his ears. His eyes wandered down to my lips and I slowly backed away before he did something he wasn't supposed to do in front of Pattie.

Once in the car Pattie started talking to me, "You handled that pretty well."

I looked over at her before looking back out the window.

"It's amazing how fond he has become of you," she pointed out.

"I spend most of his day with him, maybe that's why," I said.

"Could be," she said, "but I'm glad that you're there to help him."

"Me too," I said.

"C-can we g-get McDonald's?" Justin asked.

"Sure hun," Pattie said, "do you want anything?"

"No that's fine," I said.

"It's okay, it's on me," she said giving me a smile.

"Okay," I finally agreed.

After a couple of miles she pulled into the drive thru and ordered for us. I just had a McChicken meal while Justin had chicken nuggets and Pattie had a quarter pounder.

We got to their house and Pattie invited me in to eat. To spare you the boring details, we ate, and I drove home.

Xavier was sitting on the couch with a beer in his hand as he watched a soccer game on the TV.

"Who's playing?" I asked.

"Why are you so late?" He asked without even looking at me.

"I went out to dinner with a couple of friends after work," I said.

"Sure you did," he said.

"I really did Xavier," I lied.

He didn't reply, instead he took a long sip of his beer before setting the bottle down on the table.

I sighed and walked up the stairs dragging my feet to the bedroom. As soon as I finished brushing my teeth, I hit the bed and fell asleep.

The next day started off as a normal day, I went to work, finding Justin waiting for me by his door. After Pattie left I rushed over to him wrapping my arms around him as I pressed my lips against his.

"Good morning," I said.

"G-good morning," he repeated.

"Breakfast?" I asked.

"Fr-French toast!" He said in excitement.

"French toast it is," I said intertwining my fingers with his. We walked to the kitchen and I began preparing French toast for him with a few slices of bacon.

Once it was ready we sat down to eat and although he struggled a lot, he managed to feed himself until he finished. I ate slow just so that we could finish at the same time and he wouldn't think he was too slow.

After washing and drying the dishes we walked to the couch and sat down, turning the TV on to Lilo and Stitch.

As we watched I said words to him and he repeated them trying not to stutter. When I said the last few words, he wasn't stuttering at all.

I took his hand with mine and smiled at him, "I'm proud of you."

He smiled and kissed me, "Thank you."

I turned to look at the TV screen watching as Lilo picked Stitch at the animal shelter.

Justin placed his lips on the side of my mouth slowly moving them down my jaw and to my neck, distracting me from the movie.

"Justin," I whispered.

He pulled away to look at me before pressing his lips onto mine with all the passion in the world. I closed my eyes scooting closer to him as I began climbing on top of his lap.

Within seconds I was straddling his lap while his hands were on my sides and his tongue was inside my mouth. I felt a moan vibrate through my mouth before feeling the outline of his erection under me.

We shouldn't do this so often. I remembered last week and the week before that, and the first time. This was wrong. One, it wasn't okay, and two, he shouldn't get used to it.

"Justin we can't do this so often," I said pulling away.

"O-okay," he whispered kissing me one last time.

I climbed off of him, resting my head on his shoulder while we continued watching the movie.

"I-I want to go to the b-beach again," he said.

"Maybe we can go tomorrow if it's not too cold," I said.

"S-sounds good," he said.

We stayed in silence for another ten minutes before I spoke up, "What do you think we'll be doing ten years from now?"

"I d-don't know," he said.

"We'll be older and probably working by then," I said.

"Are y-you going to l-leave me?" He asked.

"Of course not, I plan to stay for as long as possible," I replied.

"G-good."

Pattie came home at the usual time and I left, driving home.

To my surprise, when I walked into the house, I found Xavier leaning up against the couch, three large bags packed beside him, and a suitcase.

I stopped dead in my tracks and felt my heart skip a beat.

"I can't do this anymore," he said.

I looked down at the floor before taking my left hand in my right. I knew this was coming, I don't know why I'm so surprised.

"I'll call to cancel all the wedding plans," he said.

I walked closer, pulling the diamond ring off my left ring finger. As soon as I ended up in front of him I held my hand out waiting for his hand. I placed the ring in his palm and looked up into his brown eyes, "I'm sorry Xavier."

He chuckled as he stared at the ring, "I'm sorry too."

He stood straight and grabbed his bags as he walked towards the door. My chest hurt, I felt so guilty for hurting someone who didn't even deserve it.

He opened the door and stepped out. As soon as the door closed I sat down on the couch thinking about what had just happened. The future we had planned out for so long was just ruined.

I felt terrible about it, but a part of me knew it was the right thing in order for the both of us to be truly happy.
