I wanted to do something different and experiment with the backstory being slowly revealed as the "present" plot moves along. I think I did pretty well for my first try, but there were definitely places that I could improve. Like my other story, "Duende," this story was submitted to a short story contest. Unfortunately, I didn't become a finalist or win anything (also hence why this is getting posted earlier than last year).

Thank you so much to my wifey @therebelreader for helping me with the plot and editing! We made a goal to make this story around the same length as last year's, but then it ended up being over twice as long...oops.

Anyway, that's all I really have to say.
