Chapter Twenty-Seven | Unexpected Leverage

"Put him on this table! Hurry!" I shout. Forrest throws Malik up onto a table in the food court, who's thrashing around, his legs and arms flailing. Walker begins to sob uncontrollably.

"Walker, what happened?" I question as Forrest grabs a bunch of belts to tie Malik down. He screams out, the light in his eyes gone. Walker just shakes her head.

"Did he eat something from the food court?" I ask, but she remains mute.

"Well, well, well... Looks like pretty young woman did what she was told. Smart choice, Walker." A man walks up to them, slowly clapping his hands at Walker. His nose looks broken, and he's limping.

I pull out my gun fast, pointing it right at his skull. He places his hands in the air, "I am not here to hurt anyone, just to congratulate Walker and reassure her of her high chances of survival now that she took the deal."

"What is he talking about?" Forrest glares at Walker, who begins to shake more, tears flying down her face. She slowly wipes them away, tensing her jaw.

"Walker?" I question.

Darius comes out of one of the stores, followed by two others, "She made a deal with Harley, dear."

"I thought we made it clear to you that you were to stay away from us. Maybe by now you would know that you and your army can't defeat us." Forrest rushes up, raising his fist.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Darius remains calm, smirking.

I don't move my gun away from Harley as I turn and watch Darius motion to one of his followers. The man turns and walks into the store, coming back out with a young Korean teen girl. She looks thirteen, maybe fourteen, her hair long and straight. She has a cloth wrapped around her face, keeping her from speaking.

Confused, I look at Forrest. His eyes are watery, but looks just as confused as me.

"Who is it?" I ask. Darius kicks her forward, never stopping his devious smile.

"It's your half sister, Mayzlie." He answers.

I step back in shock, lowering my gun. I can see the relation between her and Darius, and then I turn to Forrest. His mouth is open, and he looks like he's about to fall to the ground. I take a step forward, but immediately have three guns pointed at me.

"It's simple, Mr. James. Hand over Willow, and we'll give you your sister. Come on, Forrest, it shouldn't be that hard. She's your sister, for crying out loud." Darius manipulates.

Forrest doesn't move his eyes from Mayzlie.

I put my hands up, dropping my gun, "Just take me, okay? I surrender."

Darius smiles, "Brave girl."

Harley grabs my hands and ties them behind my back, yanking me towards Darius. Forrest glances at me as if I'm invisible, his face expressionless.

Forrest doesn't care if he's got a hundred guns on him, he walks over dumbfoundedly and kneels in front of his half sister. He moves some of her long hair out of her face, wrapping the back of his palm around her head. He pulls her close, sobbing on her shoulder.

He finally moves away from her, and I can see tears streaking her own face. Forrest glares up at Darius, "You did this. You kept her away from me all this time."

The rage inside of him comes out, as he runs towards all of the men. He yanks one of the guns out of a man's hand, kicking him backwards into a rack of coats. He cocks the gun, shooting Harley and the other man in the matter of seconds. I fall to my knees, and watch as the gun is now pointed at Darius.

"Shoot." Darius growls.

"Oh, I will. But first, I need you to feel the pain." Forrest spits.

"Forrest, look at me. Remember when I wanted to do the same to my father? But you wouldn't let me. I know it's different, and I understand. But just shoot him and get it over with. Making him feel more pain isn't going to change anything about the past." I explain.

"Look at me, Forrest!" I shout, and finally make eye contact. His expression immediately softens, and he pulls the trigger.
