The bus ride to Malibu was sad without Tyler cracking jokes.
"I can't believe we're paying for Tyler's screw ups again." Gina groans. "He didn't mean to, he actually wanted to stay." I told them. "If he wanted to stay, he would have tried harder." Gina says. "I'll catch up with you guys in a minute-. Actually 15." Eric says before disappearing into the port-a-potties.
Us girls walk away and pulled the boat out for the crucible. Not long after, Eric comes running up yelling.
"Guys guys guys! You'll never believe what I just heard in the bathroom!" Eric says. He explains that Brody and Mr G planned to get Tyler kicked out. My eyes widened at the fact that Tyler could be coming back. "We have to help get him back!" I exclaimed after Eric finished. "But how? The crucible is soon." Lizzie says. "We need Vooch."

Vooch pulls up to the school and we all pile out in front of Tyler. I wanted to run and hug him, but I needed to hold back so I wouldn't make a fool of my self in front of Dylan.
"What's are you guys doing here?" He asked, his eyes immediately finding mine. "You were set up!" Dylan exclaimed. Eric explains everything to Tyler. "It was Garvin's idea to kick you out!" I exclaimed. "It's like he wants us to fail." Dylan says. "He does." Tyler groaned. I took the time to take in his clothing. A jumpsuit. How can he still make it look good?
"What?" We all said.
"The mayor made Garvin take in kids from the valley. Garvin wants us to look bad so he never has to take Valley Kids again." Tyler explains.
My heart breaks.
"Why didn't you saying something?" Eric asks. I blink back tears and turn my head so Tyler couldn't see. "I was going to! But then we were doing so good and I didn't want to ruin our vibe! Garvin's plan wasn't going to work anyway, until I screwed it all up." Tyler says. "I'm so sorry guys."
"Oh my god! That's why he made me your captain! He knew I would do a bad job because it's my first time." Dylan groans.
"Also because you're a hot mess." Gina points out. I blink my tears away and turn my head back to Tyler. His eyes were already on me. "No, that's not it."
"We can't let him get away with this!" I exclaimed. "We have to do something." Gina says. "You got booted out because you crashed into a Santa Monica sand sculpture competition." Vooch says. "Yes Vooch, that's why. No need to rub it in my face." Tyler says.
Vooch repeats Santa Monica a few times, each time Tyler says yes. "Garvin's in charge of Malibu beach, Santa Monica is outside of his jurisdiction." Vooch points out. My eyes light up. "He found a loophole!" I exclaimed. "Will that work?" I asked Tyler.
"Guess we're going to have to find out." Tyler smirks at me.

Vooch pulls up to the Malibu beach after a Limousine pulls away. We all jump out of the bus and run towards the rest of the pods. We watch as Tyler talks to Garvin. Tyler smirked and runs back to us. "Guess what! I'm back in!" He smirked as he stood very close to me. We ran to our starting area.
Dylan tried to find her cards. "I can't find my cards!" Dylan exclaims. "Forget the cards!" Tyler says beside me. "You coached us from one of the worst teams to one so good Garvin had to sabotage us!" Tyler points out. I nod in agreement. Tyler smiles at me and continues paying attention. My eyes see my parents and brother by the ATV area.
Perfect, my mom is going to see me with him. My mom and I locked eyes. I motioned to Tyler with my eyes. Tyler leaned in and hugged me. "Thank you." He says.
"For what?" I asked. "For believing in me when everyone else was against me." Tyler says into my hair. My mom gets my dad's attention and points to us. "It's no problem, it's what friends do." I shyly said.
He drops his arms when I say friends.
"Eric! Remember to feather your paddle! Gina, stay in time. Callie, hold onto Tyler tight and put together a first aid kit Incase something happens." Dylan demands. "Yes ma'am!" I exclaimed. She smiled at me and moved on.
"Let's kick Brody's butt!" Gina and I exclaimed. Tyler kisses my cheek and backs away before I could even react.
"All pods to the starting line."
All five of us ran to the starting line. The horn blares and we take off running to our boats. "Come on! Go go!" Tyler and I exclaimed as we grabbed the paddles and boat. We run into the water as we collect our things.
"That flounders are the first into the water! Dogfish are close behind!" The announcer says. "Ignore him! Keep pushing!" I tell the pod. Everyone nods as we get into the boat. We paddle towards the buoy. Next up was the under water rescue. Eric jumps into the water to retrieve the bag of sand.
"First to find the sandbag is...the dogfish!"
"Come on, Eric. You got this." I mumbled under my breath as I stared where Eric dove. Eric emerges with the red sand bag. "Yes! Come on!" We all exclaimed as we pulled him inside the boat. "Your turn Gina! You can do this!" Tyler supports Gina. Gina doesn't move. "Gina? Come on!" I encouraged. "I'm going to be honest. I'm not on the swim team. I used to be, but it didn't work out."
"What if I get in the water and I screw up?" She asks. "You can't be the team screw up." Tyler says. "Why not?" She asks. "Because Tyler already is." I answered for him. He smiled at me and looked back at Gina. It seemed to work for Gina, because she got right back up and dove into the water. "Meet me on the beach." She said before diving.
"You go Gina!" We all screamed. Tyler and I paddled to the beach and paddled faster than before. Gina quickly caught up to Dogfish. "The flounders are back in the lead!" We heard as we hit the shore. We all jumped out and ran to the rescue station. Tyler and I placed the gurney down and let Gina climb onto it. Tyler and I picked it back up and ran to the rescue station, which is right next to the ATVs. "You better not drop me!" Gina yells. We drop her off beside the ATV's.
Tyler and I looked at each other and jumped onto the four wheeler. "Come on, Callie!" My mom screamed from down the line.
She was farther down the line, and a pregnant women with her husband and daughter must have just joined her because she wasn't there earlier. Tyler caught the key Dylan threw at us and starts the ATV. "You ready?" Tyler asks. I quickly wrap my arms around Tyler as he starts to drive off. As Tyler drives, I grab a small box from under a bag and gather all the necessities for if there was an accident into it without spilling anything. I place it in the turn in box and hold on tightly to Tyler.
All of a sudden, a lady jumps into the path and tells us to stop. "Lady what's wrong with you!" Tyler asks. "Help! Jeffy got into one of your boats and he doesn't know how to stop it!" She says as she points to a boat going out to sea.
"Jeffy!" Tyler groans. "I'm taking it you know him?" I said. "Sadly." Tyler says, turning off the path and towards the ocean. "What are you doing?" I yelled. "It's heading straight for the jetty that will burst the boat. We have to save him!" Tyler exclaimed. We jumped off the four wheeler and ran to our pod. "No time for questions! There is a kid in one of our boats and it's not going to turn out okay if we don't save him!" I yelled as we ran. The pod runs after us.
"Callie, Tyler, Gina, and Eric, take another boat and try and nudge Jeffy's boat back to shore. Lizzie, get first aid and meet me at the beach." Dylan orders. I run out to the nearest boat and start it up once everyone was in. I drive it towards Jeffy. "I'm going to get alongside! Try and bump him back to shore!" Tyler orders. "I need you to kill the engine!" Tyler yells to Jeffy. "He's not listening!" Eric and I exclaimed. Tyler moves up to the front of the boat. Once we get along side him, Tyler jumps in and grabs Jeffy. After realizing how close they were to the jetty, I started to panic.
"Jump Tyler!" I screamed. He grabbed Jeffy and jumped into the water. I steered over to them as the boat hit the jetty, immediately exploding.
Tyler's head pops out over the water. "I lost him!" Tyler shouts. "I can find him!" Eric says before jumping into the water. Gina jumps in with him, which leaves me to pick up Tyler. I stay still just in case anyone was under me, but motioned Tyler to swim over and get on the boat. He nodded and swam over to the boat, jumping in and searching the water. Gina re-emerges with Jeffy in her arms and swims over to the boat with everyone else. I help everyone into the boat, making sure everyone is okay. Tyler makes sure everyone is okay while I briskly drive back to the beach.
Tyler holds onto an unconscious Jeffy as we exit the boat and put him on the sand. Lizzie runs over with Dylan and starts CPR on him. After around 4 rounds, Jeffy coughs up the water and opens his eyes.
"We did it!" We all exclaimed as Jeffy's mom ran over. "Thank you!" She says as she grabs him. As she turns around, Jeffy sticks his tongue out at us.
"Well, we got the normal Jeffy back." I said.
Tyler stood next to me as the pregnant woman ran over and hugged Tyler. "Tyler! That was..." She starts, but can't find the words. The young girl corrects her.
"Incredible."
I smile at the family. Now that they're right beside each other, I realize it was Tyler's mom.
We all run back to the crucible and see the dogfish won. All six of us went into the middle where the dogfish were. We stand in front of the mayor and Garvin with our wetsuits on. Tyler throws his arm around my shoulders.
"Mr. Mayor, I do believe it is time to say that your experiment this summer was a complete failure. They didn't even finish!"
"There's a good reason!" Dylan explains. "Yeah, the reason is that they stink." Brody says. "Brody." Tyler says, stepping up and taking his arm off of my shoulders. "Callie, do something!" Lizzy says. I step forwards to place my hand on Tyler's back, but stop when I hear him say something I never thought he would say.
"Congratulations." He says, sticking his hand out to shake. My family watched me. My dad was shooting daggers at Tyler the whole time. Tyler let go of Brody's hand and walked back to us, grabbing my hand and interlocking our fingers.
"No, congratulations to you. Being a loser!" Brody says before backing away. "You showed a lot of restraint there." Eric says. "I put a crab in his shorts." Tyler laughs. I burst out laughing at this comment. Tyler grins at me and joins in laughing.
"Ow! Ow!" We heard. This only made us laugh harder. We leaned into each other as we laugh. We watch as the dogfish beat Brody with tools to get the crab out.
Tyler and I calm down as we see Brody leave with his pod. Tyler's step-dad stands in front of Garvin. "Hello Garvin." He greets. Tyler groans and looks down at me. "Roger! So good to see you. Hey, I'm sorry I couldn't straighten out your trouble-making step son." Garvin says, shaking his hand while gesturing to Tyler.
"Son, he's my son Garvin." Roger says. I smile. Tyler has a look of shock on his face when I look up at him. "He's not a troublemaker, he's a hero. He and his friends, and apparently girlfriend, didn't finish your little race because they were too busy saving a kids life." Roger explains, gesturing to our hands at the girlfriend part. "Is that true?" The mayor asks.
"It sure is! They saved Jeffy!" The mother steps up with Jeffy. "Jeffy? Angela?" The mayor asks. The pod looks at each other. "Hello, Clark. I have had a bad day." She says. "Do you know them?" Tyler asked. The mayor runs up and grabs Jeffy.
"Jeffy, is our son." He says. We all share a look of shock. "We saved the mayors son!" Eric exclaimed. "Crap." Garvin groans.
"Malibu's lucky to have heroes like you guys. Garvin? What tower are you giving these fine young people?" He asks, turning to Garvin. "No tower, they didn't finish the crucible. They're not Malibu junior rescue. Those are the rules."
"They recused a junior at Malibu beach. Pretty much checks all my boxes." The mayor says. I look up at Tyler as the mayor speaks. Tyler has a wide smile on his face. "If they don't deserve a tower, I don't know who does!" The mayor says to the crowd.
"They can have tower 19, by the dumpsters."
The mayor clears this throat.
"Tower two. They can have tower two."
The pod all looks at each other with wide smiles on our faces. Tyler immediately spins me around and wraps me in a hug. My mom smiles at the two of us before walking away.
"We did it!" We all said to each other and hugged. After pulling away, we walked to the tower. "This is so cool!" Lizzie says. We all make compliments on it. Dylan drives up in an cart and hops out.
"Guys guys guys! I'm not supposed to tell you until tomorrow but I couldn't wait! Guess what's in the bag!" Dylan happily exclaimed.
"Our uniforms." I laughed. She excitedly nodded and opened the bag, throwing us our uniforms right after. I glanced at mine. It was a tank top kind. All of the girls had this one, Eric had a muscle one which was tight fitting, while Tyler had a top that had no sleeves and was tight fitting.
Oh how I'm going to love this summer.
We climbed hopped into the cart and drove to the locker rooms. We ran in, changed, ran back out and got right back into the cart. Tyler admired my uniform as we held hands. Dylan drove us back to tower two and we climbed up. Everyone went inside except Tyler and I. We stayed on the deck type thing that looked out over the beach. Tyler took both of my hands in his hands, which made me turn to face him. He smiled down at me, and in return I brightly smiled back up at him.
Tyler let go of one of my hands and cupped my cheek, which lead to both of us leaning in.
Our lips finally touched. His lips were silky soft. He almost tasted like Vanilla. It felt like the world stopped as he kissed me, that's how magical it was.
My hands came up and rested on his toned arms. We would have continued kissing if is wasn't for running out of air. We hear a loud 'awe' come from the tower. When we looked, everyone ducked down, but Lizzie was a little later than everyone else. Tyler and I simply laughed and looked back at each other.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" He cheekily asked with a bright smile. "I'd love to!" I said before standing on my tip-toes to kiss him again.
