It was the day of the crucible, and I was terrified. What if I wasn't good enough as a captain, just like I wasn't good enough as a girlfriend. Tyler and I haven't even spoke or looked at each other since we broke up.
Today would have been our anniversary.
My family got out of the car. I saw Tyler's mom talking to Roger with the baby in her arms. "I'm going to talk to Tyler's mom." I softly said before I walked over there. Roger's eyes lit up at the sight of me. Diane flipped around and smiled at me, but the smile left as she noticed my expression. She handed the baby to Roger and hugged me. I hugged her back, trying to fight back tears.
"How are you holding up?" She softly asked. "Not very good." I confessed. She sighed as we pulled away. "I'm sorry. You can talk to me if you need anything." She said. I nodded as she looked behind me and up. I turned around to see Tyler.
"Oh, sorry. I'll leave." I said before I tried to go around him. "Wait," he paused as he gently grabbed my arm. "Can we talk?" He asked. I tried to avoid his eyes. Even though I didn't want to, I still nodded and followed him to the HQ. He led me up to Roger's office.
"What do you want to talk about?" I asked as he shut the door behind us. "I'm going to hate myself for saying this, but I'm still in love with you. When we broke up, I was trying to hard not to cry in front of you. I didn't mean anything I said that night, and I hope you can forgive me someday. Even if I have to wait forever for you, I'll do it. You may not feel the same anymore, but I wanted you to know the truth." Tyler explains. I finally look into his eyes.
There's nothing but love and honestly in them.
"I don't care where we are, or who we are. I want to be with you for the rest of my life. I know it sounds creepy, but I love you, so much. It physically hurt me to see you cry. I can't believe I made you cry that hard. I'm such a-." He started, but I hugged him. He stopped and cautiously wrapped his arms around my waist.
"I love you, too." I confessed. I pulled away and looked up at Tyler. Could I forgive him that fast?
He stared into my eyes after he grabbed my hands and held them between us. There was nothing but honestly and love.
"So, will you be my girlfriend again?" He cautiously said. I thought for a second before nodding. He beamed and hugged me before spinning me around. He set me down and kissed me. I missed those lips. My arms snaked up his waist to the back of his neck, pulling his closer to me.
The two of us pulled away when we heard a knock on the door. Roger opened the door. "It's time." Roger nods. I nod as I pull away from Tyler with a smile on both of our faces. I grab his hand and run down the stairs and to the pod.
Roger got up on the stage and started talking. We listened intently. I glanced over to the audience and saw my whole family. All of them looked at me. I beamed over at them and turned back to Roger. He dismissed us and every single pod ran to their meeting area.
"Alright you guys, you guys can do this. You can prove Brody wrong, and everyone who thought Valley kids couldn't do this. You guys deserve tower one." I encouraged everyone.
"Happy Anniversary." Everyone smiled. I blushed as I looked over at Tyler with a smile on my face. "Thanks guys, anyways. You guys got this in the bag." I smiled before forming a group hug. The whistle blew and everyone took off. "I love you!" Tyler yelled as he ran. I smiled before joining the captains in watching them.
The 4 of them did everything we did last year. "Come on guys!" I yelled as Eric jumped into the water. "So far, the flounders are in the lead again!" Roger says through the speaker. "You got this!" I yelled. Eric surfaces and gets back into the boat before Gina jumps out. "You got this Gina!" I cheered with Dylan.
Gina ran over as soon as the guys dropped the gurney in front of her. She crawled on and was yelling as the boys ran her over to the ATV area. I ran over and threw the keys to Tyler. "You got this, babe!" I yelled before he drove away. The four of us watched Tyler drive against the other pods.
"Come on, Tyler!" We all cheered. "The flounders are still on the lead!" Roger announces. I cheer as Tyler reaches the part where you turn around and race back. "Dogfish are catching up!" Roger announces. "Don't listen to him, Ty! You got this!" I yelled. Tyler only pushed farther.
I smiled as he neared the finish line. He passed the finish line before anyone else could reach it. "Yes!" We all cheered as Tyler jumped off the four wheeler and ran over to us. Tyler engulfed all of us in a group hug. "The flounders won!" Roger announces before running over to us with Dylan. We all hug. "Congratulations Guys!" Dylan smiles. I smile at them as we glance over at tower one.
"We did it guys! We proved everyone wrong!" Eric exclaimed as we pulled away. I smiled at him before hugging Tyler separately. He spun the two of us around.
"You guys did it!" I exclaimed. "We wouldn't have been able to do it without your help, and Dylan's of course." Tyler smiles as he set me down.
"Tower one belongs to The Flounders!" Roger exclaims as the crowd starts to back away. My parents and family smile at the two of us before standing next to Tyler's family.
"You guys can go check it out. I need all the captains in the headquarters ASAP!" Roger yells to everyone. "I'll see you guys in a few. I'm really proud of you guys." I said before kissing Tyler's cheek and following the other captains who's pod made it.
